@talhoff You’ve completely changed three generations of hair in my family! My mom, grandma and I are constantly talking about curly hair and referencing your videos. My grandma has started wearing her hair curly for the first time in almost 40 years. Thank you!!! ❤️
You girls are major help to all curly heads nd inspired each nd everyone through your guidance. I also started my journey by watching your videos two years back at the age of 45☺ nd my daughter is also following you. Love you two ❤ nd keep on showering your inspirations on us 😅loads of love from 🇮🇳 India
IVE BEEN FOLLOWING SINCE DAY 1! I’m desperate to bring my curls back and have gone on a crazy non bleaching and hair loss journey! Now my hair is dark and healthy again LETS BRING BACK THE CURL! Watching your videos have always brought me comfort when I miss my curly hair 🤍🤍🤍
This is an interesting method. Most tutorials I've seen (mostly on kinky/coily natural hair) people start from the ends and roll their hair up into the rod (which you did towards the end of the video lol). This also helps the ends stick to the flexi rods. Perhaps another method for someone to try. I've never had the patience to do flexi or perm rods on my own hair (do you see my afro in my picture?!), but always love the results when I see other folks do it. And Amanda's hair turned out great!
I’ve been curl transitioning since may, I’ve also recently started using flexi rods and may I honestly say they work so well, it really helps my curly hair and helps reduce frizz and if there is anyone attempting to try this curl training technique definitely give it a try, it does wonders and helps when you have a mixture of patterns in your hair! 😁😁😁
I will never get tierd of watching these kind of trying videos.. so fun to see the end result regardless of fail or success... and Mell and her sis looks gorgeous dang
The trick to this like when you used it is to make sure its dry. I have been diffusing my hair lately with the trick that once I think its dry, I continue to dry another 10 minutes. Its been working well. I'm so inpatient when it comes to the timing of drying. Thanks for giving me hair confidence!
@mluisxa you've helped me a lot, even though when I discovered your channel I was already pretty informed, I think what really sets your channel apart is the accuracy of your information; the way you put so much effort and research into everything you share with us makes things easier for us to understand and also debunks lots and lots of myths that walk around the curly hair community. thank you so much!!
@evanthea maria you saved my curls when i had no idea how to look after them. never understood how to make them look nice & now im styling & cutting my hair better than ever. love to you guys always ♥️
Love it. You guys just need to come out with a line of wigs lol. I'll need my own seester to accomplish this. Mell, I can't get to a hairdresser right now so I tried your ponytail haircut and it did the trick. ♥️
I started using those type of rods over 25 years ago...have always loved them...but I wrap the ends first to lock them in place under the first rotation...or sometimes if the hair is apt to fly away, I use papers just like a perm....and also, I do smaller sections with the larger rods and larger sections with the small rods, this gives a more even curl throughout the head
@marmalarm I love that you guys are constantly teaching us new and fun (and safe) ways to switch up our hairstyles. Here's to another year of curl friendly content!!! ❣️
Wowza! 😍 I can't wait to try this. And my daughter will love these as well! She isn't ready to commit to her curls yet, but these would let her rock curls more like mine occasionally.
I truly love all of your videos, but the ones in which Amanda is there with you always make me smile the most. That part in the bloopers where you said, "That's seester talk, you don't have to understand." got me right in the feels. I was adopted, and somewhere in the world, i have a sister and a brother that i've never met...i wonder if we could talk without speaking if we ever found each other?
Shukria.yuyu I’ve been using flexirods since May of 2020 and what I found helps is twisting it at the root first (like a two strand twist) and rolling it into a ball after you’ve wrapped the hair. I go to bed and take it out in the morning and most of the time it’s dry!
@yuritaavila When I first started my curly journey I looked up Mel’s videos were my go to. When Amanda started to join in on the videos I was so happy to see the techniques Mel used on her Seester because my hair is more like Amanda’s. I love that you have normalized a curly girls right to straighten out every one in a while. Keep up the great work Ladies!
You guys are hilarious! The seester talk, the vms, IT'S GREAT. And both your curls look banging too :) Missed you last week, hope you've had a lovely Christmas and happy New Year!
@jhutt18 OMG! I nearly peed my pants watching this video! You both are hysterical and informative and such fun!! Looked to me like a whole lot of shrinkage using this method?!? After my years of straightening were over I tried the rods on the pieces around the face that would not curl. Worked okay but my technique was far off from yours. I may try this again. Missed TT last week, so glad you are both back! Happy New Year! 💕
@nudzy Love your curly videos…. You both have brought my curls back to life after almost 12 years of burning and bleaching my hair! Love you and hopefully one day I get a chance to get my hair colored and styled by you Mell ❤️❤️❤️❤️ lots of love for both of you.
Love you girls sm! Thanks to your channel I have not only re sparked my passion for hair this past year, but also learned how to properly care and style my own curls! 😍💜
@curlymissj I love Amanda’s reaction to that first curl 😆 Mel is so good at explaining everything and why you do things a certain way! Good job seesters 🙌🙌🙌
I’m going back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off 😱. I was in the ‘dark place’ and then you uploaded this video. All is right with the world 🙌 I’m going to go hunt out the flexi-curlers I was given years ago and try this. It won’t look this good but it’ll certainly make me (& the family) laugh. Thank you both for being my go-to chill out/info zone 😘
I did this years ago before I committed to Curly girl....it was awesome....I still use only two flexion for loose waves after my blowout....so I looove this tutorial...
@hey.itslizzy Im super grateful for this channel!! I have learned so much about caring for my curly hair and have been inspired to keep it natural more often. thank you both ❤️❤️
This is THE most helpful flexirod vid. After trying a bunch of recs from you, my curls were good but not great. I tried head band curls but my fine, low density hair obeys too well. Big on the sides flat af on the top. Decided to try rods so I could curl the top and bam here you are giving me the info I need. Love the way you explain and love love love that you give a why. Will always stay subscribed.
@Curly Taye Amanda your hair looks fabulous!! I loved the way it turned out! && of course Mell your hair is always stunning, that color is to "dye" for ;) I Love the seesters and am forever grateful for helping me learn to take care of my curly hair!!
@meadowlr I feel like lots of people with straight hair wouldn’t get why people with curly hair would use rodes to curl it but it’s so much fun getting to change up your curl pattern a little!!
thats so beautiful !! would you do a formal hairstyles video with flexi rods hair ? would be so nice and helpful to see what us curly girls can do for big events without using heat

Looks awesome! Going to try it out. Would regularly curling this way help train your curls to curl more evenly, etc? Thanks Mel and Amanda! You two are the best ❤
@Lizziereckmeyer Amanda’s curls are so stunning in this video 🥰 but of course both of you ladies are gorgeous. I love learning so much about my hair from you, Mell! Had no clue how to work with it so just pulled it back in a ponytail all the time. Then came blow dryers and round brushes and I learned how to do the Farrah look. lol I never got the curly thing down UNTIL I started watching you guys!
