I prefer Stephen Fry's anecdote about the poker party- Clarkson lost early on, said "what do I do now?" and Fry responded with " there's a shotgun in the cabinet. " I always got the impression Fry was only half-joking.
@@tummasmohr7160 You’ll often hear about cars how fast they accelerate, for example from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4 seconds. (I don’t know when exactly this interview was recorded, but) Jeremy Clarkson was 45 years old in 2005, but looked a bit older perhaps. Not the handsomest man. So then the joke is that in 45 years of living, he had aged to look like a 60 year old, and it is phrased like the acceleration of a car.
That's what I like about Jeremy Clarkson. When he review cars, he kinda says everything about it whether it's good...or bad. So it's like letting the viewer decide if it's a good car or a bad car...for them. Because all people are different. A car can be perfect for one person but the worst car for another.
He said they dont tell you if a car is good or bad jeremy isent meant to say that he tells you whats good and whats bad if he said it was a good car it would be biased where if he says the good and bad points as well as all the details of the car and then gives his opinion on wether he likes it ir not he keeps everyone happy
***** How do you figure? Maybe he's a car enthusiast? God Forbid. And the SLR vs SLK could possibly be the simplest thing ever. SLR has big ugly Gull Wing Doors. SLK does not. Very Easy.
***** Well, buying an imitation designer handbag at full cost is truly an egg on your face experience. Seriously though, Knowledge is Power, My Friend.
He is a cool guy. Can you even imagine anyone taking his place? Although you may have a different opinion, i respect it but according to me, he is a cool and genuine guy!
That's why he's earning millions and hosting the best car show in the world. Yeah right. You think as you like and I respect that but according to me, he should be back.
I love Top Gear but these guy's are clearly just joking so no need to get offended as I'm sure Jeremy Clarkson wasn't offended by this he asked Jimmy Carr to be in Top Gear after this.
@Natemire motorway limit is 70mph btw, in one of the reviews, VW Lupo Petrol v VW Lupo Diesel, he said 0-60 is never done in real life, instead its 50-70
I know in the USA they used to rate cars on the 0-60 because that was the average highway speed. It was to compare how long it would take a car turning onto an on ramp to get to highway speed.
I love how, most comedians will say Jeremy is an idiot, and (especially given it is Jimmy Carr) I thought it would be more of the same. Finally, someone knows what they're talking about!
at about 4:08 he's talking about the SL55, that was included in the actual clip. Funny thing is, after he likens supercars to a hard to handle meal, he says "In essence then, this is a prawn and avocado sandwich" They just chose whatever suited their plans. I know they're kidding and all but I manlove JC so much I can't stand watching people laugh at him rofl xD I love how he emphasizes "BOWL"
He meant that they made it so that it was easy to handle around, so that anyone could get in a drive it well. Because traditionally supercars have been hard to manage.
What JC meant was that Merc put a V8 on a chassis that can actually handle it without you having to be a professional driver - being the professional driver a spoon, a fork or a couple chinese sticks. *Flies away*
It's 'TV Heaven, Telly Hell' - celebrity guests came on to discuss their favourite and least favourite tv shows. It was hosted by Sean Lock like 5 years ago :)
@lanswipe Room 101 was a TV series where guests would attempt to banish their pet hates into "Room 101", named after the torture room from George Orwell's "1984". Sean Lock's episode is on you tube
Thoughts on this video: 1) My god, I had no idea Sean Lock had a show like this in 2008 (or earlier). I also had no idea just how much Jimmy Carr's face has changed in the almost-decade since. That guy has had some work done. 2) I find it amusing that right after likening Clarkson to a 14 year-old, Jimmy straight away wants an opinion handed to him on a plate, and rejects neutral or complex interpretations that aim to let the viewer judge based on the info.
I wouldn't say that he's being pedantic. One's a small, harmless sports car that does 35+ to the gallon. And the other is built in tandem with one of the worlds best racing teams and also tops out above 200mph+.
Don't see you hosting Top Gear evaluating 6 figure priced cars. I'm not the biggest Clarkson fan. But he is a great person to host and give a commentary on these cars we will never drive :P
"Everyone likes Top Gear, even me, and I hate it."

"I wouldn't spend half that much to get my daughter out of a Turkish prison"
I Love that line, I'm so going to use it sometime
did you use it yet
How did it go down?(if answered no to question A please skip to next question)
He is reportedly killed by his two daughters.
His daughters are now in a Turkish prison as a result
What did he mean by that?
At 1:12 Jeremy becomes Arnold Schwarzenegger. seriously. look at him.
I thought exactly the same. LOL
+Tivers whatever ,though, its a major improvement,facelift !
its just starting to resemble arnie's facelift
I'll be back.
Shit! You're right!
Or as Ashens would say: "Nought-to-60 in 2.9 sad onions."
Great clip. Jimmy Carr seems to actually understand Top Gear and Clarkson in way which many don't. I wonder if Chris Evans has seen this clip?
I think everyone is missing the point, Jimmy Carr is actually saying he LIKES Top Gear.
"I am an alien" tip of the hat to the Fast Show.
Damn do I miss Sean Lock already :(
Jimmy Carr is always reliably funny- it's pretty impressive.
"If I don't like prawns is it not the car for me?"
I'm slightly disappointed that nobody else seemed to appreciate that bit lol. 🤣
Man, it's like Clarkson went from 40 years old to 75 in less than a year.
Is it just me, or does Jimmy Carr look like a cheap 1970's ventriloquist doll...?
You should probably ascribe that quote to the woman who originally said it some years ago. 😉

It's a McLaren Mercedes SLR not a SLK... Clarkson for president!

I have to correct you there. The SLR's doors are not gull wings. Gull wing doors open straight up, not forwards and slightly raised. Mercedes used gull wings on the original 300 SL and the SLS but not the SLR, nor any car since the SLS went out of production. Not to sound arrogant but I should know, having been to Mercedes' UK headquarters twice. Personally I prefer the SLR to the SLK. The SLK was a sports car originally designed for women and then given a much bigger engine that was made to look over priced by the comparable BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxter. Where as the SLR was a full on supercar with a 626 horsepower engine that could achieve 208 miles per hour. Admittedly it was more expensive than the compatible Lambos or Ferraris but with the SLR you were paying for luxury unrivalled by any other supercar which meant you could drive it long distance and hammer it round a track without getting tired. I miss the SLR and I wish more had been sold in Britain so that you cold see more at motoring events, saw one at Goodwood this year for the first time in years!
Epic expression on Jimmy Carr's face at the end.
Clarkson is a great guy. Can't wait to see his new show!

how do u not get the bread reference?

He was talking about SLR
What show is this from?
What was the Turkish prison a reference to?
It was a show called TV Heaven, Telly Hell. They discuss the TV shows they love and hate.
jimmy carr said the exact same joke when he was on top gear "thats more than i get in a week"
I can be fairly certain Sean Lock hasn't played the game Skifree after he said a monster stopped chasing him after 59mph
anyone trying to do a review while driving that slr at top speed on an open track would be using similiar inflexions.
