I love this song. She is very catchy. I cannot agree that they need a young lady in the group. They are similar in style to Limp Bizkit and Linking Park. And as you know, they are popular without women. It's simple, you're not a rock fan. But that doesn't mean the song is bad. Sorry but can't take your opinions seriously... They don't need any tacky costumes or unnecessary things on the stage. That's probably the thing with the type of music you guys like, because the music itself is not very good they need to rely on other stuff. Well, Blind Channel doesn't need all that.

They don't rely on theatrics and unnecessary stuff, they just do their thing. It's honest and enjoyable because you can see that they genuinely enjoy what they're doing. It's just them and their music and I personally love that!

Same here. I think this was the first video ever that I pushed the dislike button. 🤔 I've watched a lot of reactions and they are not always positive and that is ok. But this one was only about mocking and being mean. After watching it I felt like Eurovision song contest is a costume party where you are suppose to be a certain type or you will be mocked. 😕

Not at all, as we said, we don't like rock music. So, we tried to find something else to relate to in the performance, but this just feels like any rock song to us. Guys with long hair and tattoos shouting and being rude to a lot of loud music we don't like. No mocking there, at least not intentionally. People who like this genre obviously love it, we just don't!

Its completely different for sure and Evanescence has their own style. Amy's voice is so special and she is so good live. I don't know, I don't see anything special for this song. And I actually was a big fan of rock music.

To enter , what is essentially a pop music contest, with a metal/rap song (no matter how good it might seem to be in its genre) is like going to a vegan restaurant and expecting steak. This gets the middle finger from me. Sorry Finland.
@@richardkeating3575 eurovision is known for its diversity and all different genres, traditional acts etc. AWS qualified but wasn't in english, ukraine in 2017 wasn't in english finished bottom 5. Softengine in 2014 finished top half and lordi won it and they were both in english

My favourite so far and completely disagree with this not doing well at Eurovision. Finland have the potential to win their semi and be top 5 in the televote in the final. To me there is no doubt they are making the top 10 in the final given that this song is universally loved, even people who are not fans of rock like this song and performance, which bodes well for Eurovision. And calling this non original while stanning every generic pop song is a bit hypocritical.
We don't 'stan' every pop song. We don't like rock, big deal? Move on with your life! If you like the song, then great! Our opinion doesn't affect that in any way!
OK, like for your honest opinion. I can explain why such groups go to Eurovision sometimes - they just go to the national final, win both jury and televoting, especially televoting with a landslide. And Blind Channel did the same. Easily. It will be probably the most confident win among all the national selections this year (along only with The Roop maybe but who knows who from them actually had a better support).
About "usual group with usual tattoos, long hair, guitars, shouting and etc" - have we really seen this so many times before in Eurovision? The answer is one - NO. 2020 had one rock song from Georgia and it wasn't completely rock as we understand it. 2019 had zero rock songs (Hatari, as we mentioned it, not a rock). 2018 had one metal song from Hungary and one country-rock song from The Netherlands. 2017 had one rock song from Ukraine that wasn't really a rock, it was like clear pop song with some electroguitars. 2016 had one pop rock song (Cyprus), one alternative indie rock song (Georgia) and one low-quality pop rock song (Montenegro). So, as we see, this genre is very rare for modern Eurovision. So, that's another reason why they go there and will do well (everyone agrees with it, there's so much televote potential, to say the least)
And you're right, rock is not your kind of music at all. There's some double standarts in your thoughts - you think that all the rock bands are the same, but what about some pop singers that you really like? Every single one from them is very-very unique, isn't it? I don't think so.

Thanks for your comment and explanation! As I said in the video, I don't enjoy rock so the visuals are all I can judge, and yes there have been very few rock bands in the contest, but those that are for me have never done anything interesting enough for me. As for the pop songs, if you follow us you'll know that we will trash any song that we dislike! For example, Norway this year we said the same things; the staging is uninspired and lacking, and the vocals are sub par. It's hard to have much to say about something we really dislike!
@@ToyAndGoy Ok) But it wasn't about "trashy" pop songs (maybe this word isn't that correct). I mean, we have seen much more "the same" pop artists than "the same" rock bands, a hundred times more. I really didn't understand how is it possible to be tired of them if 1)you don't like rock and don't listen to it outside Eurovision 2)there were so little such rock bands, at least in recent years (yes, in 00's there were more because of Lordi's win but not much more). For the first time ever, I disagree with you guys. I love Eurovision but I'm a metalhead. I prefer more extremes of metal, such as black, death & industrial. My heroes are people like Cradle of Filth, My Ruin & Ministry, yet I still love Eurovision & europop (along with blues & classical music, in particular romantic period piano music & composers like Satie & Albéniz). It is possible to like more than 1 genre. I'm delighted that something like this has a place in the competition & can easily see why a band from this genre would want to take part. It's not just about gaining exposure, but also representing your country. Additionally, even if you don't like the genre, surely it is better for it to be included because a wider choice of music is better for the competition, to both keep it fresh & to attract new fans of the competition. I practise what I preach too: I don't like opera nor the fusion of opera & pop, like Sweden 2009 (La Voix), Romania 2013 (It's My Life), Estonia 2018 (La Forza) & 2019 (Zero Gravity), but I'm glad they were in the competition. I loved Italy 2015 (Grande Amore) which certainly surprised me given my antipathy to opera!
I personally like Dark Side. To me it's reminiscent of Nu Metal from the 90s. My wife also compared it to Evanescence, but I can't see it. I think the singer is very good, in tune & perfect for this type of music. I think it's a welcome addition to the competition.
I'm not saying your opinions are wrong; that's not possible, music is subjective & it's good that we don't all think alike. I simply disagree with some of the things you have said on this video. I'll still watch the next video you post, as I love your style & how you complement each other. You're even better when Joy is with you. :-)

We are also open to every type of song being in the competition, but we simply don't enjoy this type of music so our critiques are aimed at the things that can be used to engage non fans, like the staging. For us, this just simply didn't work and did nothing for us! As you will know, if we don't like something we will simply say it!

I love rock, I love this song and they are my winners so far. I'm just waiting for Georgia to decide which rock song is my favourite this year.
Lordi won because they had an accessible form of rock for non-rock fans to get behind and this does too to certain extent. There are some people who don't like rock/metal who enjoy this, myself included. Your opinions are completely valid here, if you don't like rock/metal that's completely fine, and if you prefer female vocalists to male vocalists that's also fine, but I think it's great for variety sake that all genres are welcome and we have a mix of male and female vocalists. :) Lordi didn't have a female singer by the way! ;)

@@janro8677 I have heard that the backing singer in that performance is a man named Pasi Rantanen (he's wearing a black hooded cape or something), who is not a member of the band. Although it looks like the keyboard player is singing too, I don't really know...

I disagree with the staging point. Because they are real, rock is not supposed to be what eurovison is. Being real is part of the rock thing. It would lose its purpose, if they put some angel wings on and white glimmery shirts, oh hell no. Im glad they are doing theyre own thing and just bringing Finland on the stage, not eurovision and how eurovision should look like on stage. I personally think the performance looked great, more pyro and fire and it is perfect. So sorry guys, not with you on this matter.

This is not exactly my kind of music. I like more heavier stuff and I don't like rap, but somehow in this song rap parts don't bother me at all. Founded this band only week ago and now this ear worm is stuck in my head...
I think boys have ingeniously created a song that unites listeners from many genres. Super catchy chorus and energy on the show forced me to check out their other stuff too. There is absolutely few gems, something for everyone, the diversity in the songs is amazing. Definitely will check them also in future.
Whatever happens at ESC, they have already received a lot of good publicity, which will hopefully help them reach their dreams.

I personally love Blind Channel and the fact they are being who they are and not trying to do something gimmicky just for Eurovision’s sake. That being said, what I love about Eurovision the most is the diversity of songs/genres and people’s opinions. It would be an awfully boring show if every country sent a song in the same genre and all the people voted for the same song. Nobody would watch that.

A really cool song in my opinion
Just wondering why eurovision isnt't the target audience for these guys? As we have all seen with this particular band, it DOES make a positive impact of a big variety of people and their music taste. I for example have always thought that I'm not so into rock, especially when it comes to screaming. But these guys have proven me wrong.
I'm totally fine with that you don't like this song, but the way you were mocking everything from their appearance to their ability to sing is just pure disrespect.
This year is the first time since Lordi when I'm going to watch ESC purely because BC. Since Lordi won, I think the competition has gone worse because of all the costumes and ridiculous staging. After all it IS a singing contest.
And by the way I would like you to check out their cover of Linkin Park Numb. I think that it's not that heavy, so you can really focus and to see that both of these guys have beautiful voices.
No no, we weren't saying it's not the right audience, we were just raising a discussion point as to why bands like this enter the competition, as so few ever have over the years. It's great to have a variety of songs, we totally agree, but from the moment this song started we just knew it wasn't for us. We are sorry if you feel we are disrespectful, but we are simply two normal people having a chat about the songs! We only say here what we would say in real life! It would be super boring if we just said that we loved everything and every song was great! People are very upset by us not liking them, but our opinion doesn't really matter at all! It's hard to have much to say when you don't like something and it just reinforces to you personally why you don't like it.

If we don't like the music, what else do we have to enjoy. If they had brought this song with some kind of message in the performance that elevated the song then we'd have been able to engage with it. We said, people like this music and we are glad they get to enjoy it. But, by being so niche people who aren't into it are going to be alienated by it, and that's fine! As for the way we said it, well we are just being two people having a normal conversation. We just say what we would say in real life, there's no pretence to our channel!
@@ToyAndGoy there is always a message in every song. In this it's lifting the middle finger up to everything this pandemic triggers. That we all feel sometimes depressed and frustrated, but it's okay to feel like that. It's okay to be messed up. There's light even at the darkest place.

I think live playing and power of this type of songs better than just guy who just dancing with microphone and a couple of other peoples , that’s amazing .
This is a real contender and I place it in the TOP 5. I I'm not even a metal fan- but this is a million times better than ARCADE by Duncan Lawrence, and which I found creepy and cringeworthy. I LOVE BLIND CHANNEL-DARKSIDE. IT'S BRILLIANT!

Having in mind that Blind Channel was inspired by Hatari, which you totally disliked, I'm not surprised you don't like this entry. They both are the music I listen.
I believe after the year of covid restrictions, Blind Channel just wanted a place to perform their song for a wider audience, so they decided to give UMK a go. I don't think they were chasing the Eurovision entry necessarily, but I am glad they won. As you said, I like the variety.
I think everyone will be surprised with this song on the night. I think it might win or definitely top 3 .

Metal/rock is definitely not my favourite genre of music but I love this Finnish entry and do like the staging as it matches the style of song. Not a winner but I think this will qualify for the final.

I completelly agree with you and I'm really sorry some people in this comment section cannot respcet your taste and your opinion. I don't like this entry as well - the staging is unoriginal, the generic clothes you would expect a rock/metal band would wear, nothing special when it comes to lyrics, the song is fully in English - not a single word in the native language... I can appreciate it's a different genre that we don't often see in Eurovision at least...
I think problem is not that they dislike this, broblem is how they say it...
This IS Blind Channel. This is how they look and perform when they perform. Boys said before competition, if they will join, they join in their own selves and do not present anything that they are not.
Song is made before they knew they were taking in part the competition. Lyrics are from how they feel when 2020 lockdown happens. They had big plans touring all over. Message is that even everything is dark and frustrating, you still can party in your own way and show middle fingers to the bad things.
They try to reach stages all over the world, not only in Finland, that's why their music is in english.
In this music genre, music and how you reach audience is more important, than costumes, choreography and looking fabulous.

@@mirvaahonen8083 Thanks for explaining some things that I didn't understand:) I've never been a big fan of rock/metal music (in Eurovision I overall prefere music with traditional ethnic instruments and native language over cheesy generic pop songs in English). But I appreciate a different music genre and obviously everyone's taste and opinions are different:)

I'm sorry you think we presented out opinion badly. We're just saying what we feel, and as we said the music does nothing for us, so we tried to look for something else to draw us in, and unfortunately there wasn't anything. Of course, this is how rock bands perform, and to their fans it's all about the music, we were simple saying that if you're not a fan there's nothing to let us in at all.
I didn't took it so offensive than others, I'm old enough to digest a negative comments. Only one thing took my eye: open mind, open mind and then not so open mind... But that's it, no hurt feelings 😊
I just wanted to explain to Robin Oswald99, why these people didn't like this reaction. And give some backround info about the band.
I started following ESC over 40 years ago, with my mother when I was a little girl. Mostly I listen metal and classical music, still some of my favorites on ESC was Dana, Conchita and Verka. Sometimes it's not all about music, but attitude which make me excited. But only if it's done with good taste. What I love about ESC in recent years is diversity on songs. On other hand often it feels like ESC is more like a circus. I'm happy that in some years also "normal" singers win. I love Alexander Rybak... Sometimes less is more 😄
In this year my favorite is our boys, Blind Channel, nothing can change that, but my second favorite is France, so far. Let see what else is still coming...

Oof. I mean, you have a BIG point, since Lordi won since they #1) had a great song to work with, and #2) really put on a show. For this, they put off the audience at the get-go with "put your middle fingers up" is just well, it is what it is. Take that out and I might have played attention. I mean Finland is the absolute KINGS of metal. And it will stand out as the sole in its genre (though i'm awaiting Georgia, which had a much better singer). Cheers guys, 2sc

I know many ESC contest fans love this entry, but this is my least favorite 2021 song so far. I'll admit I am not really a hard rock guy, but this is just so aggressive, angsty and loud, and the lyrics aren't that great. I have a feeling it will probably do well but not in my ranking.
Finland could have sent the masterpiece of Danny and they chose a song that sounds like a Linkin' Park's scrap song of 20years ago. Awful entry!
