  • Welcome to the first episode of "This Old Manikin".
In this episode, we uncrate our first manikin and start how you should always start, With cleaning. We go over some of the basic techniques and have two very special guests on to talk about some of the advanced methods of cleaning a manikin.
Thank you to Amy Follmer & Sarah Rucker for joining us as our first guests!
I would like to also thank Sim2Go for being our first sponsor. Find out more information about their Medication Administration system at www.sim2grow.com
We will be taking this manikin through the process of refurbishment, fixing what we can and what makes sense along the way. We will also have different types of episodes, from projects, tips and tricks, vendor showcases, and even a few awesome surprises along the way. I hope you will enjoy it and join us in watching our future episodes. As always, feedback is appreciated, so like, subscribe and comment. You can always send us an email to Sales@SimulationTek.com
Hope to see you in the shop again soon,
    David Shablak, NRP, CHSOS-A.

Great content. Thanks for producing ! I have found cottonseed oil to be an excellent way to clean our manikins with a microfiber cloth. Makes them look like new !

Btw. The main microphone shut off as I hit record so what you get is the best I could make out of the camera mic. I’ll get that fixed for next time. My apologies. I’m no pro, just trying to do good.

SimpleGreen and Fantastik come to mind as safe cleaners (The former being mostly ONLY soap and surfactant.. you can literally DRINK it lol).. the ammonia in them is diluted enough to where I've used them on plastics and shit in IT. for YEARS..
Def a good point on the PPE too. Also, some in the vintage PC/electronics industry use a peroxide base plus outdoor or UV light for "retrobriting" vintage electronics. Seems like same principle here. 40% peroxide cream from Sally Beauty Supply works well for most plastics, but you have to know and TEST what it is you're dealing with first sometimes
