Thanks for a great video and great advice David. Can you please tell me what type of adhesive you would use to re-anchor some magnetic tabs, into the recessed sections of a "Kyoto Kagaku" brand "Eye examination Manikin". Unfortunately the rear of their silicon sponge feeling head is supposed to attach using magnetic relocation tabs which have pulled away. I'm very handy with fixing things, but thought I'd consult an expert regarding the best adhesive to use. Thanks for your great videos and really helpful advice.
Can’t wait!!
You going to the class?
Thank you for these great resources. I have been in simulation for sometime but now being able to confidently dabble in makeup and follow proper safety precautions to protect SPs was great to learn. Thank you again.
Love this! Thank you so much. More to come!
My manager came up with using a condom catheter. The larger end is stretched over the gallon of distilled water. The smaller end is stretched over the IV bag. It takes a little over a minute to fill the bag.
Very cool. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks guys for putting this together!
No problem sir! Glad you liked it
Awesome work guys! We play around with ballistic gel too and it’s exciting to learn more about it. The temperature issue is definitely a real thing. We found that melted gel in a crock pot sits at 260 F and the combustion can occur (according to the manufacturers) at 275 F. Regardless, it can get smoky if you leave it too long, especially if you add psyllium powder, which can sink to the bottom and burn. Something you could try for things that can’t withstand the heat of the gel (like 3D printed models) is taking a thin ‘disk’ or layer of gel that is cooled and using a heat gun to melt the gel over the item. We do that for our abdominal fetus phantoms and we always carry those ‘disks’ of gel with us in case we need to patch things. :)
That sounds awesome. Have any pictures of that you wouldn’t mind sharing?
Thanks David and Dr. Crawford for making this video. I've been waiting for this since I asked about ballistic gel during the Moulage Workshop at SimGhosts. Great information!!
Thank you for watching! I really tried to get this one out quick. I hope you enjoyed it.
Great information about synthetic gelatins! I've purchased so much Knox gelatin that I could put a coworker's stapler in jello everyday for 45 years and still have leftovers
Hahahahaa. Never was a fan of the office, but that’s a classic scene.
What can you use to seal up IV sticks on a IV hand trainer. Is there a certain material that works well? Thanks for all your great videos
Sadly there isn’t any material that I have found that will heal up your sticks. If it’s a silicone skin, you could try to clean it with acetone and then use sil-poxy, but I’ve only have some small success. Wish I had a better answer for you.
@@SimulationTek Thanks for the quick response...
Interesting puck design. Still I have a 2014 Gaumard Victoria that can do more…for less than this. I was quoted almost $96k for this MamaAnne. thanks David
There are a lot of great manikins out there to meet our learners needs. Thanks for the comment.
@@SimulationTek agreed. Appreciate you! Any chance you can do more of these with other simulators?
That’s the goal! It up to the other companies. This is a great start
Great work! Love it.
Thank you sir!
Wait? You can use the JADA and the Bakri?!? That’s huge!
Right? I thought those were awesome features!
Thanks for showing the features of Mama Anne
Happy to help
Incredible well done Laerdal designers
Thank you for the great review!
Thank you sir!
As someone who always tries to figure out how things are molded,, it looks like they are 3D printing molds to make some of the silicone parts.
Yup. It’s a pre-production piece.
This brand new manikin... 😀
Hahahhahaha #guiltyascharged. My wife wanted me to duct tape over the old, with new. Guess she was right.
Amazing work guys! All you need to know on using the new Laerdal family member! Keep it up! We want more
Thank you sir. More to come. And sooner.
Excellent review of MamaAnn!! Great JOB!
Thank you sir. She’s pretty great. A leap forward for sure.
Great work Shabby!
Thank you so much! More to come.
where in the UK can I buy this
Really looking forward to the cream episode - very exciting!
I have a tear on the flap covering the power button. If I ever have time, Ill try this for sure.
Which manikin?
Thank you David! I love watermelon too! I just got my manager to invest in a big bottle so getting ready to start making wounds 😃
That’s awesome!!! Enjoy.
Love it!! Can't wait to learn more from you at the SimGhost Pre-con!!
Can’t wait to see you.
Mr Davey noted my omission of a release spray on my UltraCal 30 mold. Yes! You should use one for sure. He notes that he likes Murphy’s Oil Soap for the release. BRILLIANT! I’ll have to try that out. Thank you sir.
Amazing as per usual sir! Special shout out to your new background! How does it behave on larger pours? Same as the smaller ones you showed?
Awesome question. It’s good for thinner appliances. The thicker the appliance you have to get trickey with it. Better to stick to thin stuff. At least till the next video
Question: I’ve used Watermelon in the past and think it, along with many of Michael Davy’s products, are a treasure of great products that a lot of people don’t know about. Anyway - Watermelon does leave a slightly glossy shine when dry. Now, when I paint with silicone paints I add a small amount of Cabosil (fumed silica) to some Naptha (or other appropriate solvent for silicone) and mix that into my silicone paint. The Cabosil will matte the entire silicone piece where you’ve painted. I’m curious if Watermelon would work the same way if you added Cabosil to a small mount of water and mixed it in or just add a small amount direct into your Watermelon? I’d try the experiment myself but I let my BIG bottle of Watermelon age about 5 years. Now I have a really BIG bottle of just Melon!🤣
We will have to try that for sure. I wonder if hitting it with powdered sugar might work as well.
Something to consider as an alternative to mesh is the non-sticky fiberglass tape for dry wall repair. It’s all I use now. I’ll take a punch or make a round hole with my Exacto knife at the very end(s) of the silicone tear. That hole does wonders to prevent any additional tearing and, along with the fiberglass tape/Silpoxy, this makes the tear nearly impossible to tear again.
Thank you for posting this! Who would have thought of this. Awesome tip. Thank you.
Terrific video David!
Thank you so much. More to come!
Great video! Enjoying the new background as well.
Well sir, you better. Your the reason #causeirespectyouandyourknowledge
Good stuff! Seaming and patching is an art form in itself on the SFX side. Lucky most of us here are not dealing with movie level patch work 😅
Yeah I want that to be a future episode. There are a few patchers and seamers that are just pure magicians!
What is the larger weave mesh you are using? I've used powermesh but I'm not familiar with the one with the larger holes. Thanks!
It should be this mesh. I’m still looking for the “right mesh” and this isn’t it, but it’s close. Let me know if you find something better, but this is pretty good. a.co/d/ddJahH5
Yes let’s see the next section. Great content! By the way, is there a reason you don’t use gloves? Does nitrile or pvc gloves interact chemically with the materials?
Thank you so much. No. No real reason. To be honest, I’m sure I should so thank you for keeping me honest! I’ll add doing a trim and beauty coat on the arm, to the list of episode. Thanks again for the comment.
Great content. Thanks for producing ! I have found cottonseed oil to be an excellent way to clean our manikins with a microfiber cloth. Makes them look like new !
Neat!! I’ll have to try that one out. Thanks for the comment!
I use a similar method but just stick the endit tip on my kangaroo bag and put the iv bag in the sink and walk away. Another thing I do is use an enema bag (end cut off), central line (end cut off) slid into enema line, and attach extention tubing to as many ends as there are. I use this to refill flushes.
Enfit
That’s awesome! Thank you for sharing!
We want more! ❤🎉
LOVE this! Such a common need. Nice shout out to Ed :)
Hahaha. Yes. Let’s see how long it takes him to find out. Don’t tell!!
Try Tech-Bond
When i try to add a monitor nothing is appearing i want to use lleap lite.
gr8 info thank you!
Excellent overview! Thanks for all the work you put in to help others!
Thank you so much. I try to help for sure.
Used your techniques to make 3d hives. However, went one step further since when i try to remove a tegaderm it turns into a little sticky ball. I created the hive and attached it silicone adhesive tape which stiffened it and made it easier to remove and store on wax paper fir future use. Thanks David!!
Awesome work! Thanks for the tip!
Nice! I can use this technique in my simulation lab.
I would just open the whole box in one paper sheet and then put it through laminator and then fold it back to original shape.
Good packing tape is readily available. If you want to take durability up a notch, then I highly recommend book repair tape or book binding tape. Librarians use it to repair books after children decide to use the cat as a bookmark.
Excellent! We have used tatoo paper for Google images with bruises, etc. But I never realized we could reuse them this way. This is great!!
Can you please share the product information for the silicone tegaderm you used? We need some of that! Excellent tutorial. Thank you for sharing. I love moulage because no matter how much you know, there's always more to learn.
The links should be in the episode descriptions. Tattoo paper and three sizes of Laerdal Tegaderm. The links working ok
David - I’m sure you are probably aware of this but I buy Tagederm in 6” X 15’ rolls. I don’t remember the price but it was very reasonable compared to standard Tagederm in paper frames. I purchased a roll from Amazon last year and still haven’t used it all. BTW: Great video, buddy!
Yessir. I love the rolls. I also love the size that you can tape to the back of a clipboard. That’s actually my all time favorite size for this. Miss you buddy. We gotta talk more this year please sir.
merci bucket
Glad you like it Ms.
LOVE IT! Thanks for doing this! I needed it.
Awesome. Glad to help! You like the new shirt?
I used the flannel as a hat tip to this old house but I’m not a fan of plaid lol
@@SimulationTek It looks awesome!
