I did a TDY there when I was stationed at Charleston AFB. It was one of the most exciting experience. The people are AMAZING!

In May 1965, I was sent to Ramey with an intelligence unit in United States Army. We set up on the flightline and a P 51 of the rebel forces of the Dominican republic landed without permission. Sirens went off. Hey follow me met him and he texted up to base operations I was standing right there. Someone asked him in Spanish are you aren’t meaning is his airplane armed he answered sí! It was fully armed. The base commander and the intelligence chief were both relieved that was 1965 fast forward to 2021. I was talking to my ophthalmologist who is a Dominican republican about the story in Spanish, and he got very quiet, he lightly touched my shoulder and said, “Él era mi tío.” he was my uncle. He then went on to say his name was Robert Mendez, and he was a hero to the Dominican people. He was ordered to bomb and straif the city of Santo Domingo. He said to himself my family lives there I’m not gonna bomb it and accordingly deserted.

I was there at that time. I was in OMS we would have to go out to the P51 and start it up an run the engine every few weeks.

Thank you for sharing. Do you know any honest real estate agents there?

I would recommend you Bengie Rodríguez he is a well-known real estate agent in the west coast (especially in Aguadilla). His website: www.bengie.com/.
