  • Thanks for Checking out my latest Cayenne video on how to replace the battery. It's found under the drivers seat, not the easiest to get to. Hopefully this will make it less painful for you. Stay tuned for future videos! Thanks for watching!

    Did this job today. Thanks for the tips! One thing that I have not seen mentioned, the batteries have a vent port on both sides. I took the plug out of the 2nd vent port on the factory battery and transferred it to the new battery. Otherwise, just as you described.

    Interesting, I was just watching a battery replacement video on car care kiosk for my 2013 958 (thankfully out of curiosity and not necessity). This video is much more in-depth! FYI I work for Advance Auto corporate in Raleigh. Thanks for all of the great videos! I’ll be changing the transfer case fluid tomorrow based on your tutorial. I’m going to talk to the Battery Category Manager to see if they should request VIN number to ensure customers get the right battery on the first trip!

      It comes up with Sorry we don't have recommendations for for this vehicle. I didn't use the vin I wasn't driving the car when I went to the store. But from that response it doesn't look like that would make a difference. Thanks for watching and I hope my transfer case video helps you out.

      @@KevinsEuropeanGarage I know we have other parts categories where VIN is required to get the correct part since some manufacturers change course during production years. Hopefully it’s in the ACES data we get from the supplier to help other customers in the future. Thanks again Kevin!

    One step missed, and I missed it too until I read it on Rennlist. And I'll have to go back in to finish the job.
    Your AGM H8 most likely has two vent holes on either side. You are using the negative side hole, but there is, most likely, also a positive side vent hole that needs to be plugged up. The positive (red) plastic cover that came with your battery has a little red plug attached to it (to be broken off) to plug up the unused hole. This way, only the negative side vent hole is being used.
    Luckily, I found the plastic positive terminal cover in my trash. Now I "think" I can just remove the seat bolts, tilt the seat and pop the cover and get the plug in without removing the battery again, since the hole is very near the top of the batt. Just gotta be careful not the drop the red plug in the battery compartment or I may have to pull the batt out again.

    I don’t know if you did this BTS and forgot to mention but you’re supposed to program the new battery in the ECU. This is done so that the voltage regulator does not overcharge or undercharge the battery. It might fry some control modules as well if you’re not too careful. Just a FYI

    I think we should let everyone know that this is one of the heaviest car batteries I've ever picked up. Plus it's in a kind of awkward position. Take your old battery with you to the parts store because there were 3 different batteries listed. one smaller one longer and one just right.

  • @chrisgandhi6463

    So I changed the battery after still having the original for 8 years. It was working fine. I decided to switch the battery because the voltage was going up to 14.3 or 14.4 and I thought that was kind of high and maybe the alternator is working to hard. After the battery change the voltage it is the same. Is that normal? I was hoping for the voltage to drop into the 13s. Is it because I didn't "register" the battery through software?

    Hi Kevin, I have enjoyed watching your videos. They are concise and to the points of importance. Forgive me asking a question on the battery replacement. Do we need to register the new battery? If so, do you happen to know what to do? I am thinking to purchase the Foxwell NT809TS scanner. They said it can do battery registration. I am not sure if registration is a must or what does it do. Thanks in advance.

    Kevin, thanks a bunch for putting this video together. I'm not very mechancal but by watching your video (multiple times, I might say) I was able to replace the battery in my Cayenne. One question I have is this: after I replaced the battery, I found that the lumbar control and the control for the front of the seat (that expands the seat) are not responding. I must have inadvertantly disconnected those lines. Any advice on what I should be looking for to fix this?

    • @fatfreeheo
      @fatfreeheo 10 месяцев назад

      There are three connectors for the seat. Kevin didn’t disconnect them in this video, at 3:35 you can see those wires come down into the carpet. Double check those two power seat connectors, (DO NOT DISCONNECT THE YELLOW/AIR BAG CONNECTOR)

    Thanks. Porsche says that the QR-Code of the battery needs to be added to the car, so that the car will sense that the battery are replaced. They said that the reason is that if the battery gets bad, it closes som functions to save the battery- and these functions that are turned off need to be restored. I cannot find anything of that information in the videos I have looked at so far. Does anyone have any information about that?
