What i really like aboit this episode is that Annie and Reiner fight with purpose. They have determination. When fighting before they were tired, guilt ridden, and miserable. Here they have a goal worth fighting for and you can see it in their expression
@@franzroast6658I don't know for a fact, but didn't you see her shed a tear or two when Levi cut her jaw bust open, and grabbed Eren from her mouth? @@ralvolvi7668 TBH, The Yeagerists were fighting phenomenally here. They were wrecking Titans and working in cohesion to do it, when just 5 years ago they were terrified of what Titans were. You really gotta hand it to them. They were my favorite peeps in the story.
Survey corps are extremely fearsome in the S4, even groups of titan shifters are afraid of them. They don't even need an Ackerman or a titan shifter anymore to be efficient against any menace out there, the marleyan militar tech along with the ODM Gear closed that gap and that's awesome; how we saw them slowly closing it, in less of 10 years how they passed from being completely annihilated in every scout excursion, to being a world class elite forces who made three elite trained, special featured and veteran titans needing help to survive.
@@indescribablecardinal6571 nope they still need a titan shifter Marley has way more number than paradise doesn't matter how much they can't dodge none of peick guns except John or zeke piches the island needs help also they really need a Ackerman they carry the whole team no matter what levi sheesh still carries and Mikasa paradise would be doomed without any help
Dogsh bootlicking Reiner and Annie 16 yr old creamers. Look at yall traitors siding with Marley and Armin in the end. Holy damn the world will truly be in trouble if shtf.
Look at how far Paradis Island has come in defeating the titans with the advent of new tech like thunder spears, only to realise the real enemies are not the titans..
The craziest thing is how well the yaegerists are handling reiner and annie, this is one of their first times actually fighting titans and they're doing way better than Levi's whole squad did against Annie by herself in season 1. Goes to show how strong of an invention thunder spears are and how much odm technology has improved.
the spears are hella powerful yeah what makes annie so strong is how acrobatic her titan is, and how good she is at controlling the titan body. but it doesn't really matter when you can just shoot her in the face multiple times.
Am I the only one in the world that saw that Annie in this fight didnt use her hardening ability EVEN ONCE like she didn't harden to hit buildings like she used to do she didn't harden to protect herself like she used to do like wtf
I’d say Levi’s squad did pretty good. With only 5 people they managed to almost completely disable her movement and eyesight. They only lost because they had no idea how smart the female titan could be, nor her healing factor and skin hardening. The yeagerists disable Annie here, but only after losing a small army’s worth of soldiers to her lmao.
Reiner's armor looks a little stronger here. He got shot with two thunder spears in the arm and nothing but a clinking sound and when he almost got shot directly on the nape it's like clinking sounds, no shattered armor. But when he got those thunder spears to the face protecting annie that's when the battle started to turn.
It didn't penetrate around the muscle between the armor plates if it did it would've blown apart like when mikasa shot into the muscle around the nape and in the armored titans mouth.
It’s pretty cool symbolism that Hange invented the thunder spear to help save humanity, and now it is being used as a weapon to kill people, and it is being used against her. There a lot of real world examples of that happening.
Its pretty stupid. Former. Did u forget season 1-3. Now everybody feels sorry for em because they r about to get wiped out. Killing friends to save the enemies. Team eren all day

Not simping but female titan for someone who hasn't got out of a cacoon in 4 years and never though thunder spears before she did good, if she never had to keep taking hits for the humans I think she could have beaten the recruit units but lost to the elites
The moment where Armin tries in vain to stop Connie from killing those dudes out of fear.....man that still gives me chills. Talk no Jutsu doesn't work when a bullet destroys your windpipe.
@@Star-pj8jc he is not, he is the result of a human pushed beyond their moral limit, and he proved it, look at everyone, killing their comrade for the sake of the little humanity they have left, just to realize they have become like floch, to push beyond human ethics and morality and kill. Many yeagerists were young men who didn't know the whole story, they saw their island attached and signed up, they have never been outside the walls and see that not everyone is there to kill them, but they were killed by their own comrades.
It’s crazy how much the survey corps evolved up to this part of the show. From scared and afraid to having little to no fear going head to head with Titan shifters.
It really shows that we only fear on something we didnt understand. After knowing the titan shifters are only humans, they basically seeing them like a human in giant armor.
Everything involving Annie post-awakening seriously changed my opinion of her. I didn’t hate her in season 1 but she was definitely one of those characters I forgot about (considering she’s gone for so long lol) Seeing her back in action and just the changes in the expressions on her face + listening to her dialogue now makes me seriously appreciate her as a character. Annie is not a good person, and sure, she fights for selfish reasons, but who can blame her? She is someone who from the moment of her birth was never taught the value of human life. There is a single person in her life that matters to her pre-paradis invasion and even then, he is kind of a piece of shit. Who *wouldn’t* hate the world in her shoes? She’s never been given anything to be grateful for and until spending years living under the Paradis roof, never learned just how precious and valuable life was because she was trained as a weapon to give someone else a better life. We see her crying in season 1 after losing the battle in the forest and within wall Sina. The fact of the matter is that she (along with Reiner and Bertholdt) had *no* choice but to do what she did. Those things are unforgivable, yes, but here we see her and Reiner now fighting to protect. Despite what she says her intentions are, Annie is now fighting to protect a world that wronged her in just about every way possible. She’s my fav AoT character for sure and unintelligent one-note yeargerists aside, I hope this season and part 3 have/will have helped more people appreciate her.
I don't know. She killed a lot of survey corps members back in season 1, and the facial expressions while killing those soldiers, clearly proved she enjoyed killing them.
@@trickleman5478 It's pretty obvious that they made the female titan look like she "enjoyed" killing the scouts in season 1 for the fear factor. Everything was still a mystery at that point and we didn't even know she was a shifter until later. I recommend rewatching the show/Lost Girls OVA because she *clearly* never wanted to do the things she was forced to do; she tried ending the mission with Reiner multiple times, still has nightmares about Marco, was seen crying in the forest scene with the Levi squad, admits to Hitch after waking up that the things she's done are unforgivable, etc.
@@tulip135 It's pretty obvious that she smiled when she killed those scouts, it's not to create fear, but because she really enjoyed killing them. There were many times when she just could dispatch or just throw the scouts away, but no she decided to kill them. And I watched the OVAs, she clearly had a choice. She threw the corpse, because it was a hindrance to her mission. That man never get the justice he deserved. She had a choice to spare Marco, she didn't even give Marco a chance to talk through it. She just followed Reiner. And now, she regretted the decisions she made. If she didn't kill the Levi squad, they could be a big help in killing those titans, since they're veteran soldiers and are skilled enough.
yes, but i am yeagerist side, i never kill my friends like mikasa team for unknown peoples, qountinty no metters, always protect yours home no metter what, like a 'floch and eren
Nah Marley are still villains and everyone from there, they just teached everyone to hate Paradis from birth, Eren should just wipe out every enemies across the sea spoiler: ending is still trash for me
Everyone saying Reiner, Annie are the mvps of this fight, but did you see Connie just oblitareting everyone with such a smooth precision? Not even suprising since he has been through everything the others have and he not only survived but fought very hard.
@@dinneyney4043 Definitely not in height, haha. Funnily enough, this scene is even better when you consider that he says at one point he wants to eventually pay back Reiner and Annie for saving him the times that they did, being at utgard castle and the barracks in trost respectively. and he got to do that finally in this scene. Another neat attention to detail that make this series even more impressive. :)
To be fair he did have the same hatred Levi had for Zeke since he turned Ragako village into titans so it would’ve made since if Levi trained him to be up to the challange
I haven't watched or read AoT in years, it just became not my thing, but I do enjoy watching scenes of it now and again and Connie is my favourite part of this one, it harkens back to what Keith Shadis said about him during his evaluation. "He's slow on the uptake, but he makes 'very' sharp turns." Cut to now and Connie literally turns 180 degrees in an instant to go from kill to kill, that's actually badass attention to detail.
Something I've noticed between the new Survey Corps and the old is that the old Survey Corps were actually willing to risk their lives. They were brave. Meanwhile these guys looked like they were in over their heads. Not that they didn't pose a threat to Reiner and Annie, but they really seem like they were trying and failing to imitate their predecessors.
With the introduction to new technologies they think they've got the upper hand but experience in battle always overtakes whatever equipment or upper hand you may have. Never underestimate your enemy because it could mean your defeat. Another example of this is when Marley invades Shinganchina in a last ditch effort to take the founder.
This isn’t really the survey corps at all tbh. They’re not fighting for the benefit of all humans, they’re only fighting for themselves and “their” people, the very thing the survey corps wasn’t intended to do.
Well consider the situation as well they just got betrayed by the very best of their corps. With that being said they still manage to beat Reiner and Annie they only lost cause of the interference of mikasa and co Annie and Reiner were dead
That would make them think though (hopefully). If the 10 people closest to Eren, 10 people all war heroes all who have fought to save their homeland since childhood, of they all betrayed Eren, then whats truly going on? 'Course it might also just deepen their resolve... humans are fickle things.
@@LeviAckerman-sm8ij Well we see that Marley is fascist racist and they were about to do a genocide on Paradis. I understand what you're saying but they sided with the outside world and let Eldia be destroyed
I must say, as a huge Annie fan since s1 it was so awesome to see her titan form once again in action after not seeing her for years. The amount of serotonin I felt after could get keep me afloat for a long time lol
I never understood why he didn't train his blue hardening. Guess he didn't have that much time pre island invasion and not on paradis as he only used it few times during his time there, only at the beginning and end. But he had time in Marley. Unless he was told not to use his titan unnecessarily during the 4 year war so he would always be ready to go on full energy. But he clearly had the blue crystal hardening in season 3 when he created claws, just nowhere near as mastered as Annie or Eren, though can't give em credit because of females ability and Eren drinking a fluid to gain it instantly. But the blue hardening mastering would make him way more durable against thunder spears and in 1v1 against hardened titan like Eren, so you'd think he would have trained it after the failure
@@damnsonwheredyoufindthis.3830 He knows how to use Hardening Ability. He's used before, from what I heard, two times. Reiner has another ability, which is unique, he can transfer his consciousness to all around his body, meaning he doesn't die, but it's only used as a last resort. And he never uses it again, because no one really tries to murder him, so he didn't see the use of it. They just attack his face, and other body parts. Not his nape, a lot of times. And hid Hardening Ability has pointing finger nails, and toes. Which seems to be used for climbing, and stabbing. Yeah it can punch too, but I see why I don't utilize it too. I am not the jaw titan, my claws aren't as sharp as yours, and I have a good human fist, on my titan.
@@josefzalusky7307 meh kinda hard to really say both of them because Reiner still kept fighting regardless, galliard got mauled by the scouts and eren and Reiner had to save him. When every charackter feels so natural while moving the story forward, it takes you some time to realize they just managed to pull off the "enemies become friends and fight together" trope so flawless.
Bullshit. This entire arc felt forced, unnatural and unsatisfying to me. They should still hate each other's guts, specifically because Reiner, Bertholt and Annie just randomly invaded their home and killed all their friends and loved ones, so how they just become fucking friends is laughable at best. @@DAS_k1ishEe Manic anti-hero attachment disorder? If that's what you mean, then no, I'm not attached to Eren, never was. In fact, I hated him for the first 3 seasons for how shallow and cringeworthy of a character he was. Here, however, I'm not necessarily rooting for him, but rather against the squad of traitors and walmart zuko's. The titan shifters have no excuse for what they did and thus deserve no empathy from me, and the rest of Eren's friends goes out of their way to 1. reconcile with their sworn enemies who joyfully killed hundreds of their friends and family, 2. kill their former comrades without hesitation or remorse and 3. actively doom their own country and people to save those who literally just declared war on them for existing. The only person in season 4 who still has a backbone is his body is Levi for not cheerfully wishing Annie a good life when that bitch ditches. Everyone else just talks that decade of terror and loss out on a cozy night at a campfire... I don't know what to tell you, but that's not how human emotions work. @@mildlyobesegoat7262 ok, not m.a.a.d. But do you know what charackter development is? All you are describing is what happens to the charackters and not what they learn from what is happening to them. The Yeagerists for example, did not do so. Both behaviours are human and it works for the majority of the viewers so you not seeing this is most likely not on the wirting. It's probably on yourself.
@@DAS_k1ishEe I'm a hobby author and story analyst myself, so I know quite well what character development is. The development of the 104th quardett's joining forces with their arch enemies however is rushed and poorly executed. Armin and Mikasa go from risking their lives to save Eren and their people to teaming up with the guys they just fought against and trying to stop their friend and the rescue of everything they know in the same time it takes Eren's founding Titan to cross that narrow sea. The only talk about their entire past they ever have is at that campfire, and they should not move past all the shit that's happened so easily. They only do because Isayama needs them to settle things quickly so the plot can happen, which could work, if it was actually an alliance out of desperation and not team fucking friendship. The way they say goodbye to Annie is a giant fuck you to everyone that blonde bitch has joyfully killed back in season 1. That's not character development, that's character assassination.

Hints more towards the theory that the armor strength is tied with willpower as in s3 and beginning of 4 he didn't even want to live and fought because he had to, not because there was a noble goal or determination behind it. And it makes sense as the entire transformation process is linked to thought and goal in the mind. If he didn't really wanna do it but forced himself it makes sense the titan would also turn out weaker than if he was determined and in good state of mind
@@damnsonwheredyoufindthis.3830 This is a good observation, But I dont think that is the reason. The whole will thing is true, but i don't think that effects the entire purpose of his titan. (His armor)

I fully believe that if Falco hadn't shown up to turn the tides, and Keith didn't blow up the reinforcement train the Alliance would have lost right then and there.

Reiner is called the Armoured Titan for a reason. He's the armour of humanity takes all the damage, willingly goes on front to take all damage for the team without hesitation. His titan is the most battered at the end because he takes all the damages using his armour not because he doesn't know how to fight. He's a pretty damn good warrior Infact one of the most powerful among all the 9 titans.
I'm still convinced this is one of the best action scenes in AoT. Which is obviously saying a lot. Between the Female and Armoured fighting together, to the first appearance of the new Jaws, to Mikasa literally raining blood.... Beautiful. 😍
This is where it went kind of mush for me. That flashback scene where Reiner has that one guy killed screaming Let’s talk about it! while he’s getting eaten and this happens. Floch had legitimate reason for doing what he’s doing and yet they made the killing of the Jagerist look satisfying when it wasn’t. I couldn’t enjoy it.
There aren' tany subtitles here, but what Floch exactly said just before getting shot by Gabi seems like an excellent showing of his personality. Notice how he says "The one who is going to save Paradis is ME". The emphasis is on 'ME' as you can figure out by his tone. He might want to save Paradis, but I think his ultimate goal was to receive recognition from it, which I think is fitting to his character.

Reiner has killed way more people but he has seen his wrongdoings and feels true genuine remorse for his actions and as a king he vows to become not only a better man for himself but a better king for his people. Everything involving Annie post-awakening seriously changed my opinion of her. I didn’t hate her in season 1 but she was definitely one of those characters I forgot about (considering she’s gone for so long lol)
Seeing her back in action and just the changes in the expressions on her face + listening to her dialogue now makes me seriously appreciate her as a character.

Cut to now and Connie literally turns 180 degrees in an instant to go from kill to kill, that's actually badass attention to detail.

@@jdjbloggerj8017 Ancient feuds? A few days ago Marley waged war against Paradis lmfao fuck Marley and I’m glad Eren slaughters everyone

Even though the Yeagerists were pretty much just meant to be fodder you gotta hand it to them that despite them not being veterans of the greater days of the scouts they held their own surprisingly well against an Ackerman, 4 Titan shifters, 4 veterans of the Old Survey Corps (Including Keith), and a General of the Marleyan Army. I fully believe that if Falco hadn't shown up to turn the tides, and Keith didn't blow up the reinforcement train the Alliance would have lost right then and there.

Mikasa is a fucking traitor murdering her own people for trying to save themselves
1:15, 1:33 I loved Reiner and Annie protecting civilians
Remember. Reiner, Annie and Pieck are likely responsible for the deaths of many of these people's families and loved ones. And now we get to cheer for them as adults as they massacre more young eldians soldiers... And it's portrayed in such a "cool" "satisfying" way...
Isn’t that is the real world we live in? I know my grandfathers killed many peoples just to live our modern life nowadays.
Because instead of just avenging their loved they try to commit a 'based' genocide
Pieck didn't kill anyone, she just carried the supplies, and assisted the crew.
And Reiner didn't mean to murder, and Bertholdt's kick killer most, and he didn't mean to do it. And he wasn't the cause of civilians death, it was the debris.
And Eren was the cause of people's death to, in the Central wall invasion.
@@earnem4175 Reiner, Berthold, Annie, Pieck and Zeke all collectively contributed to an attack that killed tens of thousands of Eldians. They struck the first, second and third blow and started this whole conflict.

Wild how Flock and the boys almost dismantled 4 titan shifters whilst having to deal with Elite scout traitors.

Bro the plot armor during this part of the anime. Hundreds of soldiers with thunder spears failing to hit the boat at least once and to even kill any member of the alliance who were not even 20, like wtf. It was really good at making support Eren though.

I agree
Hange and Mikasa approaching and Floch just watching this for a moment. That had to have been chilling for him.
Image if Annie still has her mosquito slapping skill, demonstrated in the forest against Levi's squad.
Sounds like Reiner at first when he was a kid. He sought out to make his mother happy but he also wanted glory. Over the years he abandoned the desire for glory and now he's just fighting to stay alive and keep his loved ones safe.

@@MinjaeLee-c9z yeah, Reiner has killed more people then Floch but he is a much better person then he is. He's not a cold hearted bloodthirsty killer who kill anyone and smile about it. Reiner has killed way more people but he has seen his wrongdoings and feels true genuine remorse for his actions and as a king he vows to become not only a better man for himself but a better king for his people. And then theres flochs kingdom, he has killed less but he enjoys to kill and torture. He'd kill anyone, unarmed civilians and even his own allies for not submitting to him. His few kills would turn into the thousands. Who's better? Reiner or Floch?
Tbh, flochs last ditch effort was badass.
Moments like this show you that the Main Characters were pretty much carrying the survey corps.
These yeagorsts aren't the original they are recruits they lack leadership and expirence and despite that they came close to killing Annie and reiner multiple times but kept getting interpreted or switched targets like we see yeagorsts just fly by Annie to fire thunderspears at the engineers turning their back to Annie
