    ⚡ 💕 / 🕉 ☮
This song was intended to be a mix of Indian style with BABYMETAL's brand of metal.
Before it was officially titled, this song was on their setlists as "Ind-Metal".
"Shanti" means "Peace" in Sanskrit and related languages, and repeated three times, like the song title, refers to peace in body, speech, and mind.
    From the song:
"Shanti Shanti, Prana of living beings
    Shanti Shanti, Chakra blooming life
Shanti Shanti, Samsara of living beings
Shanti Shanti, Karma, be in high spirits"
It's great that Su has an opportunity for some vocal pyrotechnics on this one.
And I'm sure they loved learning this choreography.
Moa mentioned in an interview that the hand gestures were pretty challenging since the dance style is so different from what she's used to.
The theme of 'Metal Galaxy', the third studio album, was to travel the galaxy picking up musical influences.
Apparently there's at least one Bollywood planet out there, which sounds great to me.

Great reaction - and well done, as you thought this is their tribute to India and Indian music and dance. In the Metal Galaxy album they have explored some different musical styles from around the world and paid homage to those in a few of the songs.
Shanti is a Sanskrit word (Sanskrit is a written Indian language) meaning peace. Repeated 3 times it means peace in body, mind and spirit (or in thought, word and deed).
There is some sitar and traditional Indian drums (I can't remember what they're called) used here and the kaleidoscope visual effects are the sort of thing I would expect in an Indian video. I think the official music video editor got a bit too carried away with those at the expense of missing a lot of the excellent choreo.
The live performances, where the kaleidoscope effects are limited to the big screen behind them, are better as you can watch what they are doing in the choreo.
Moa has said that learning the hand movements in particular was difficult as they are quite different to anything she may have done with Japanese dance and the hand movements used in that.
Once again Su-metal absolutely nails a completely different singing style at her first attempt.
The third girl in the official video was the Avenger Kano. In the live compilation I'm not sure if I saw all 3 Avengers - the other two were Riho and Momoko.

You raised some great points about the "avengers", the supporting dancers for 2019-2021.
According to MIKIKO, BABYMETAL's choreographer, it was essential that the avengers have the right "shared DNA" with the BABYMETAL members.
Riho Sayashi is probably best known for her time in the Idol group Morning Musume, where she became their "Absolute Ace".
Before joining that group, she was a student at Actor's School Hiroshima (ASH), where she overlapped with Suzuka Nakamoto for a few years.
They would even compete for the lead in singing and dancing routines.
(MIKIKO was an original staff member at ASH.)
Kano Fujihira is a Sakura Gakuin graduate.
Like Su and Moa before her, she was President of the group in her senior year.
While Kano only appeared with BABYMETAL five times, she managed to be in three of the official music videos (including 'Shanti Shanti Shanti') and many concerts on DVD & Blu-ray.
Momoko Okazaki is also a Sakura Gakuin graduate.
She was the only member ever entrusted with developing a dance routine for the group, for which she created a "Super Dance Unit".
Both Kano and Momoko are considered to be among the best dancers in Sakura Gakuin.
Riho signed with the talent agency "Japan Music Entertainment" in September 2020 and has been pursuing a solo career as a singer and actress.
Kano appears to be pretty busy in her new JPop group @onefive, as well as TV appearances on variety shows.
The supporting dancer at the last 25 BABYMETAL appearances was Momoko, including all of the 2021 concerts at Nippon Budokan.
After the final Budokan show, she was a contestant on the KPop Idol survival show Girls Planet 999, although her group didn't make it into the finals.

Wow jumping so fast to 3rd BM album, didn't expect it this, but is cool because you'll notice the evolution and more complex choreo in this.
This journey to Metal Galaxy on their 3rd album got a lot of songs picking up rhythms from all over the world and combine with the unique sound of BM.
Shanti Shanti Shanti got a Indian influence and elements, others songs got folk metal or latin rhythms, or Thai rap, so this journey is wild.
The album concept is about to collide the Light And Darkness side and this song belongs to the Light side. I noticed many girls love this songs so probably their pop sound is more relatable, idk, for me sounds exotic and that's what it hook me up. As long as you enjoyed is all good, there's BM for everyone. ❤️
Since this was after YuiMetal left the third backup dancer here is called an _avenger_ there were three of them, in this song is Kano Fujihira, just remember none of them got official name revealed and not official members, they only dance, no sing. In the live comp is also Momoko Okazaki.
You got it right once again about the difficult on dance this along with new partners, MoaMetal talked about this saying it was one of the hardest thing to match up and get in sync with every one of them, especially at Legend Metal Galaxy when all the avengers switch up in the same show (also taking it a break) while Moa performing the full set 🥵
But it was a great experience for her, YuiMetal was also known as the "angel of dance" (you'll see more at BM guide) and she was the most technical among them, Moa took this challenge after she left and focus on this dance aspect learning a lot from the experience with the avengers and backup dancers before them.
Now that you mentioned the outfit, you can find a in-depth analysis on BM costume at "Andrew Hartley" ch. He talks along with two other experts about this, one of them was part of the design in some of those.
As for the Doki Doki Morning MV I think is the right choice, there's a kawaii live version at Sakura Gakuin but is cut off so only do this for fun whenever you want, and other live version like live at Budokan 2014 and after with the Kami Band are with the girls already grown up and without the younger look of the official MV, but still kawaii as always UwU
Keep enjoying BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘❤️

Shanti Shanti Shanti is a great song, many Indian reactors have commented on how respectful the song is to Indian culture and religion. The official video of this doesn't really do the choreography justice, because during the dance breakdown, they put up a lot of kaleidoscope effects which blocked out the wonder dancing the girls did. Good thing you watched the live version too. 😁😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘

  • @DeePal072

This song was first premiered outside Japan at Glastonbury Festival, in 2019. BABYMETAL went through a dreadful 2018, a difficult tour without YUI, the death of Mikio Fujioka , most of all they needed something that could surprise the world again, even though they already proved the point with PA PA YA!!, to me, that song was Shanti, shockingly fresh and totally unexpected, exactly the BM way! 🤘🦊⚡

    • @DeePal072
      @DeePal072 2 года назад +1

I'd like to add that I completely agree on your analysis on the way they evolved their stage presence. That also has to to do with their 2018 tour, at the time MOA was flanked by two dancers/martial artists and she really had to push her dancing skills to a higher level, which she did. Even on their older songs, her movements were wider thus faster and fiercer than before, in line with the dark era mood. Then the Whole Metal Galaxy Tour was designed to bring the focus on the girls, in a way to both celebrate what they achieved so far and gave them back the confidence they partially had lost. 🤘🦊⚡

    Excellent reaction again, thanks!
Loved this format with the reaction to the MV and the live performance. Good job!
And yes, Su-metal usually kills the performances as she is a total performer and I'd say even a "rare" performer. She always have pushed herself to the limits to get what she always wanted to do which is to sing. If she has to dance to get it, it's okay, she would dance harder that anyone else. And about the choreo, I'm not an expert on this topic, but it looks like she controls the choreo in the way that the movements of the triangle formation seem to pivot on her.
I agree, all the Avengers (Riho, Kano and Momoko) did a great job. They are incredible pros! Special mention to Kano Fujihira (the Avenger on the official MV) being just 14 at the time. And sometimes we forget about her, but an important part of BABYMETAL's success is because of the hard work of Mikiko Mizuno, their choreographer. So, kudos to them all.
Note that I never ever expected to be here discussing about choreos and backup dancers. 😁

Love this song, it's such an interesting experiment by Babymetal. The song was listed on the tour setlist as 'Ind-Metal' so if anyone is still wondering what the influence origin is, no need. This is probably the most (mature) kawaii song of the 3rd album.
If you want to see the borrowed clothes Babymetal wore in the very early days (although they might be the same as in the MV, but this also shows a bit behind the scenes): making of doki doki morning (channel: akane saku)
Don't know if this needs a reaction, but it's something you might want to hear anyway. A video exists of Su-metal singing this song live radio broadcast captured from an in-ear-monitor, RUclips video: BABYMETAL Shanti Shanti Shanti-Suzuka`s In Ear Monitor Sound HD
18:13 now... surprise surprise, Moametal got to be in charge of dance and they got to train 3 girls ('Avengers').
She said she had to do training to be in sync with all of them and it was all different, she is the one who adapts with the one who they are performing with at that moment.

I would describe it as Su looking satisfied with there performance or when she holds a high note for a long time at the end of a song a look of delight on her face . when she's really happy like at Sonisphere after IDZ or SSA after ROR Su has been known to punch the air and looking back as she leaves the stage doing a Kitsune sign waving it and smiling at the audince . Nice reaction. Shanti Shanti Shanti is a great example of how their travels around the world influenced the 3rd album. Moa said the hand positions were the hardest thing to learn for the choreography. However, the impressive thing here is how Su shows off some new singing skills here. Her ability to hit the semi tones of the music scales used in this song are amazing. We all knew how talented Su is but her growth in skills IMO is one of the things that makes the 3rd album some of their best work. That and Moa's growth as an artist in general. They got her to sing a lot more on this album and Moa has said she focused a lot more on her dancing. Now with their mature Kawaii metal songs Babymetal starts to enter a new phase. Only the release of their fourth album will we know where it goes from here. Kitsune UPs

BabyMetal goes to Bollywood. The faces of reactors of Hindi culture just light up when they see this, they appreciate the care and authenticity BM brings to their performance.
Loosely related to Bollywood, there is a vid of 2020's music vid, Kingslayer (BM's outstanding collaboration with Bring Me The Horizon), that is set to a completely "over the top" Bollywood musical production. The mash-up is very well done and quite funny.
Lastly and not related to BM, Bollywood metal does exist. Bloodywood's Ari, Ari went viral a couple of years ago and the shock on reactor's faces is great fun. Something akin to people seeing Gimme Chocolate for the first time. Worth ck'ing out.

Su has such an incredible range of vocals. In this video Moa was 19-20, St was 20-21 and the Avenger, Kano was 14 years old. Kano only performed with Babymetal at Japan shows as she still had commitments to Sakura Gakuin and her other Idol Group @onefive.
During a SG segment, Kano expressed her admiration for "Moa-sama" (-sama is an even higher honorific than -san) because she performed a BM song with 2 of the other girls in SG at an Idol festival and they were completely wiped out afterward from the intense choreography, where normally they would perform multiple songs. The "teacher" Mori-sensei gave her grief for giving Moa such an honorific. Lol.

Shanti is definitely one of their songs that doesn't get enough reactions, so I was happy to see this! You were right that it's (intentionally) Indian-inspired, and that comes out both in the music and the dance. They brought in a lot of different cultural influences for the third album, both as a way to challenge themselves (Su had to learn several new styles of singing, including this one, and Moa and the Avengers of course had to learn different dance styles) and to keep things fresh. BM has always made it clear that they're not really interested in treading water stylistically speaking.
If you do Doki Doki Morning, I would vote for the MV. It's one of the good ones, and it shows off just how young they were when they started. Plus, I don't really feel like there are any live performances of it that are head and shoulders above the rest, and also the ones that _are_ in my opinion the best unfortunately tend to get either partially or completely audio blocked. :(

Fyi, the pronounciation of Yui is "Yuuee" as "i" in "India" , her full name is Yui Mizuno "Youee Meezūnō" , Kitsune up! 🤘🦊

Compilation videos suck and I'm sure I've said that before. There are numerous ways around copyright infringement - I suggest that you investigate how other reacters manage to get around that problem. But it's your show and if you're willing to settle for half-assed then that's your business. 😢

Well at least she did react to the official MV first, i think BMRR got a watermarked logo version but since she does pause a lot it's way harder to editing that, watching the original clip while putting the logo clip for us. The live compilation isn't the best one but at least serves as a help to get through this odd and focus on the dance analysis.
Plus she worked really hard to upload Akatsuki Unfinished Version so i think she deserves some indulgence.
I do share with you live comps isn't the best way to experience BM songs for first time watching but like i said, she did watched the official MV first at least.
Keep supporting BM and reactors who share the Fox God love 🦊🤘

@@jakemuller8626 I agree and I'll give kudos for watching the official MV first but any Babymetal compilation for any viewer is like eating prime rib that somebody else chewed. Those who make these comp vids are nothing less than pirates taking advantage of gullible viewers. And although BMRR is an option, I think their watermark is so "thick" and encompassing that it's hardly worth the effort to watch. In fact, I'm under the impression that, for as many times that she pauses and chats about the video, she shouldn't have any copyright problems at all. At least that's the conclusion I've come to watching other reacters. KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

@@Filboid2000 Yeah I get what you said, but the watermarked logo is for us not for the reactor, and trying to react to a full clip without logo and pausing a lot has already been tested for some reactors, trust me, not working, when something is heavily blocked it won't pass, there are clips with heavy audio blocked, those are even worse. And not to mention she did experience by herself with the Akatsuki Unfinished Ver. x_x
We can make some exceptions with valuable reactors like her 🙏
      Thanks for understanding this 🦊🤘
