Hi everyone! What grade (out of 10) would you give this video?
I wasn't a big fan of the sniper movie(s) Berringer made, but this looked like it was watchable. Hard to say, using a short video clip. 5/10 sounds close.
0 out of 10... not a "Barrett 50 cal", it's a 20mm, which despite being significantly larger than a 50 BMG, doesn't cause vans to explode when it hits their windshield. Lastly, every "sniper" kill in this scene is a compilation of what NOT to do for long distance marksmanship... this is what happens when people who get all their firerarm knowledge from video games think they can make action movies...
Not a bit watchable 2/10. You don't want such a large rifle for a two-bit operation. Alpha-chad line is corny, feminist inclusivity is given a couple of lines:"I can't see him" and then "target down". Not going to ask the name of this.

No one in this scene are using weapons known to mankind. At this point they might as well be firing plasma cannons from Halo with the "pew pew beam beam" sound effects.
These weapons do exist.
No-one in this scene is using weapons that are "unknown". Becket is using a Chey-Tac M-200 Intervention, Miller has an AR-10SB, and "El Diablo" fires an AIC Mag-Fed 20mm.

But the guns are all very well known.

@@scottcline1807no it wouldn't, it would at best make your ears ring from the crack, bullets are made to be aerodynamic, creating the smallest pressure wave possible with their passing so as not to waste energy on the fly.

@@bryanlenihan5012fool any battle caliber rifle will take a chunk out. Then if you’re using a 7.62 then it’s more of a chunk and then the chunks just get bigger as the calibres do. Also the projectile type counts as well. In like a pea out like the plate it was served on.

No. Explosive rounds only explode on impact. The show depicted a High Explosive Proximity (HEP) air burst round taking out the sniper.
1. Its currently impossible to shoot proximity air burst rounds with the small arms calibers he was shooting. (223, 6.8, .7.62). The timed proximity fuse is bigger than those small caliber projectiles.
2. 500 to 1000+ yards isn't close range.
3. HEP rounds are only available in medium caliber guns/ grenade launchers. 25MM, 30mm and up. 25mm Xm307, XM25 smart grenade launcher rifle
The sniper was shooting a 20mm Anzio, which does shoot explosive rounds, but only on impact.

Mk211 Raufoss does that quite handily. But it doesn't have a proximity fuse, it's all impact-actuated.

to be fair, the gun the 'bad guy' is using is essentially a bolt-action/semi-auto 20-30mm rifle. Easy enough to have Explosive rounds in a gun that big.
@@Gwydion_Wolf The title says it's Barrett .50, i.e. 12.7 mm. Look at the beginning of the video. After shooting the ground, which exploded like if it was jot by at least a 40mm grenade, the marksman shoots a couple of other shooters. We are not seeing any blood. A bullet of that caliber (without any explosive) would literally break the body in pieces covering all surrounding area with blood, but the visible effect is like a strikeball hit. But hitting a car instantly results in an explosion.

The only people shooting the 'people' were the 'good guys' and they were using what looked like 1 MK12, which is a 5.56 AR or an M110 which is 308/7.62. And the other was using what looked like a M40A6 which is also a .308/7.62.
None of those guns "blow bodies into pieces" unless you get a direct head-shot and even that only blows out the 'back' due to the skull acting as a compression chamber for the forces at work.
The "Bad Guy" in that scene is using a 20-30mm rifle which would indeed cause significantly more damage, but the only thing HE shot at was the car, nothing else.

Once at the van engine, the other time at the inside of the van.
That's a 25mm anti armor rifle, not a 12.7mm anti material rifle. Details, they matter.

Let's also add that, there haven't been "anti armor rifles" since World War 2.

@@khiemnguyen5727 No, it's probably meant to look like that, but there's no real-life way to do that. It's "rule of cool" for the movies.
The nearest thing to a rifle-caliber explosive round is the .50 Raufoss round, and that goes off when striking a hard target like a vehicle or machinery.
Anything else would require a larger round to be able to fit a fuse, and that fuse wouldn't react to things like humans. You might possibly be able to make it detonate at a pre-set range, but since they can't tell exactly how far away the shooter is, that'd be a crap-shoot as well.
And the rifle Becket uses is the Chay-Tac Intervention. It fires a specific, made-for-the-gun .408 caliber, solid copper-nickel, bullet designed to maximize accuracy at extreme ranges. There is no other ammo for it, and it wouldn't be able to run an explosive round and have the accuracy it's designed for, if you could even make one.

So the bad guys plan was to lug an enormous, rare anti-tank rifle into a skyway and use it to annihilate a van.
But just in case the driver survived or something a bunch of cholos with dollar store automatics would jump out and finish the job.
And the good guys plan was to kill the sniper with the anti-tank rifle, but not before he detonated the van with a high explosive round he could have just used in the first place.
On their side they were using some kind of magical controlled detonation high explosive sniper round able to be fired from a typical rifle that explodes within +/- 1 foot of its intended target while still being MOA accurate to 1000 yards.

When the director sees an actual Barrett 50 cal. and says that’s it? It’s not big enough, I thought you guys said it was huge. Call the props department and tell them to make it bigger, a lot bigger!

@@RTAZalvaroYou’re... incorrect. The “gunner” you referred to were using Anzio 20mm Rifle( 0:05 ) not the 25mm. And the sniper uses CheyTac Intervention ( 0:57 You can see the adjustable stock and its bolt), which fires .408 CheyTac, not the .50BMG

I see you actually commented on the size in the description. I was about to say the same. This is definitely not a Barrret. Going by the sheer size of the gun I'd guess at 20mm Vulcan. So a weapon more like the Anzio 20mm.

That was a proximity bullet, it get's within a certain distance of the target and BOOM!

Also a potential War Crime. Since exploding projectiles under a certain weight was banned in 1899.Part of the reason among others why the XM25 program died because H&K questioned the legality and other issues IIRC.

A not actually existing one. There are no rifle rounds that would explode on proximity like that. And none that would explode on soft-target contact.
The nearest you could get is the .50cal Mk211 Raufoss, but that still require a hard impact.

afaik the enemy sniper is using some highly tech rounds to reach those ranges as accurately as he did, something akin to self-guiding ammo I remember was Excelsior or somefin. The shot that blew up his head should be a Raufoss round or so
Hitting a target at that range is comparatively easy with the gun used. That's what the Intervention is FOR. However, there's no round in the world that can do what the movie showed. It's movie magic and nothing else.
