- Butterscotch flavour is the king of flavours. When you melt sugar it becomes caramel. When you add butter to caramel it becomes butterscotch. If you add chopped dry nuts to it and grind, it will become praline. If you add milk or cream to butterscotch then it becomes butterscotch sauce.
Making a butterscotch cake with all the original flavours of butterscotch, without any artificial flavors, was a challenge. Usually butterscotch cake is a vanilla sponge base cake with praline and butterscotch sauce added to icing or topping.
Here we made an original butterscotch base cake with a prominent butterscotch flavour by adding praline and sauce to cake batter itself, it was tough to get a correct proportion, still we succeeded...
So this is our butterscotch cake for you. Without any added artificial flavors or colours.
This recipe also explains in detail the making of praline and butterscotch sauce.

I made the cake today. It tastes great but I got hard sides and doomed. This is my second baking, I don't know where the mistake was... Rest praline, sause was good.
@@priyankas1887 sorry to hear that.cake sinks if u fill the cake pan more than half.cake gets harder if u overbake.after half an check the cake if it is done.baking time may vary with different types of oven
I should admit that I over baked it, but it was great. Whole family is loving it.

@gomes d non dairy whipping cream ,if have beaten till stiff peak, will hold its shape. But don't use fresh cream or whipping cream powder. U can make the cake and keep refrigerated one day prior.

Hi shammy, today I made a trial cake. But it got burnt, flat and hard.
I made for half kg.
Wet Ingredients:
-50 gms butter
-155 gms powdered sugar
-3 eggs
-1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Dry Ingredients:
-155 gms wheat flour
-94 gms of maida
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-2 teaspoons of raw milk
I used hand whisk to beat and mix ingredients.
I did this cake in pressure cooker. preheated cooker for 10 mins in low to medium flame, baked it in medium flame for 45 mins.
I didn't use butter sheet in cake mould. I coated it with oil and dust it with maida.
I used 10 litre aluminium cooker with black sand at bottom and covered sand completely with aluminium plate then placed a ring above it and put my cake tin above that ring. I didn't use gasket and whistle in cooker.
My cake mould is black metal half kg mould.
Is baking soda must?
I ve only whipping cream powder 100 gms. didn't get whipping cream in my area. how much powder will be needed for half kg cake frosting?

Ingredients u have taken is wrong.while deciding quantity of flour ,u should consider both wheat flour and maida as one.155 gm of wheat flour and 94 gm of maida is around 250 gm of flour.lt is almost 2 cups of flour.so u hv to take double the quantity what u hv taken.ingredients u hv taken is enough for only one cup(125 gm). U should bake in low flame after preheating.

Yes, ucan. Add little by little. Be careful not to loosen the frosting. Butterscotch syrup is prepared by adding milk to the butterscotch sauce.

Dairy creams has low fat content and they don't whip into a stable form. Ingredients of non dairy cream help it to be more stable.

How to prepare the syrup? By adding the sauce to sugar syrup?
Butterscotch syrup is prepared by adding enough milk ( not sugar syrup) to the butterscotch sauce to watery consistency.it gives nice butterscotch flavour to the cake.

U can bake cake at 180 degree c for 30-40 min.it may slightly vary among different OTG.after 30 min ucan check the cake with toothpick or skewer.if it comes out clean then it is done.

All the ingredients should be at room temperature
Cake Batter should not be more than three fourth of the pan
U should not open the oven very frequently or else centre will sink.after 30 min u can open

Whipping cream powder never gave us perfection inspite of trying somany times. Non dairy whipping cream like Fiona and tropolite gave good results.

Your cream seems stiff
Cream should b stiff.otherwise u can't make the designs properly. U get stiff cream with nondairy whipping cream.

When caramel becomes dark brown,u should reduce the flame.if u overheat the caramel, milk will split after adding.or ucan switch off the flame after adding butter and then add milk

If u cook the butterscotch sauce for long time it will become thick after cooling .you can add milk or fresh cream and mix properly to reduce the thickness.if it is difficult to mix I can slightly warm the sauce
