Wow! They was still playing the raccoons in the late 90s. I used to love that cartoon. But I specifically remember watching it in the early part of the 90s. Great to see Mathew Kelly too. I'd spend every weekend at my grandparents and we used to love watching "you bet" on a Saturday night. Man, you get me right in the feels every time you upload vids like this. Thank you.🙏🏻👊
Ooh, I remember watching things like You Bet round my grandparents' house, too! There was that, Catchphrase, Bob's Full House, Opportunity Knocks, The Generation Game... Gladiators was too much for them once that started, though!
@@VideotapeFTW great shows. Great memories. Remember jim Davisons big break? That was another we used to love watching. Man, the Saturday morning and evening tv shows in the 80s n 90s was golden. We really did have it all. Good times.👍
I remember watching the Racoons on Children’s BBC in the early 90’s and not in 1998. Hmmm how I could of missed that? I was most likely watching SM:TV Live that year that’s why lol 😂
Oh, CBBC definitely had some great presenters, too - whichever one you prefer is fine! The funny thing is that the people higher up don't really care about the output at all, as long as the ratings are good. :-)
@@meridian2000 SMTV: Live was trying to cater to both kids and teens at the same time, hence the mixture of content and I can see why that would have been a turn off for some, but some may argue the opposite and say that SM:TV Live actually helped CITV at this point by establishing a permanent Saturday morning show that lasted for years, rather than looking at temporary ideas that only lasted for one series like Tricky did. But at this point CITV would eventually go through an identity crisis and by the early 2000's, decided to overhaul their content as fears were being raised that they were showing too much 'violent content'.
I wondered what happened when Sage and Onion (the Leprechaun's) were on screen and thought to myself, that's a bit strange that the Beeb censored the credits on The Raccoons, it was bad enough that they interrupted the song LOL. But I see that was you, fair enough. Yeah sorry this is what comes of being more of a CITV fan then a CBBC fan, though 1998 was the year that I really started to branch out and see more stuff from the Beeb and yes this was 1998. :) Oh and thanks again ever so much. :)
Thank _you,_ as always! Yeah, the video actually got blocked by the rightsholders of The Raccoons - just for the end credits, which are being spoken over. I couldn't believe it! I'm really careful, and that's the first time that's happened to me in years. Still, a little blurring, and everyone's happy. I didn't want anyone to miss the Sage and Onion bits!
It's definitely Easter Saturday, and there was something that suggested 1997 to me, but I can't remember what. It absolutely could be 1998, though - what makes you think it is?

The Raccoons were aired on CBBC till around 2003.

@@TheRetroManRandySavage Oh, yeah - Big Break was always one to watch too! Although, now I think about it, my grandparents never had Bullseye on...

Yeah, this was the era when CITV really started to overtake CBBC across the board in terms of ratings - and SM:TV Live was a major factor in that!

CBBC would often air The Raccoons up till around 2003.

The episode of The Raccoons on 11 April 1998 is The Intruders because I can instantly recognise the screenshots used in the end credits

@Daniel’s Random Channel You're absolutely right - it *is* 1998. I'll update the description - thank you all!
