- This week I finally fly us from Liverpool to Manchester's second airport, via a little sightseeing flight along the coast. I've been wanting to fly into this busy airport for a very long time and it was great to finally make it here!
Yep
I did my first 13 hours flight training at Barton in the late 90s. I then finished off my PPL at Space Coast regional in Florida, and my American instructor there was baffled at how someone with my limited experience could land in such a short amount of runway.
Barton, it’s like landing in someone’s back yard compared to the massive local strips they have in the US, especially runway 32.
Brings back memories of doing my work experience in the tower and working in the now closed visitors centre as a teen. You flew over my parents house on final.
Great to see you at Barton, my home airfield, Noel! Love the videos 👍🏻
I think that's the South Lakes the IOM would have been about 10 O Clock,
Another fun video. Nice look at Blackpool and a landing on the grass. Cheers
Noel, I think the IOM you're referring to is actually the Lake District.
Yes it was not the IOM
That mountain he points out is black combe. My local hill at 600 something meters. 😂
Great to see the Spitfire again. This must have been a month or so ago but still a great vlog. Thanks for sharing 👍
Great video Noel, i live close to the Mersey, wish i had known, would of seen you flying by....
Have been there myself in NZ rego P750XL, ZK KAY 🇳🇿😎
yep
Nice to see you landing at Barton, I am getting my PPL there. Lovely airfield!
boss vid noel and boss you flew out of Liverpool brilliant 👍👍👍👍👍
Welcome to my city! I guess you flew over my house (maybe), I was at CEG on this day watching the red arrows! Next time you fly in hook me up I’ll show you around the city
Nice one Noel you flew past Southport where I live love your vids mate 👍
I Live in Southport Too
Great video Noel i saw that Blackjack Typhoon at Bournemouth Airshow
you need to take your wee lad to biggin Hill Airport and visit the heritage hanger for a look round, you'd both enjoy it
I was at Ince blundell airfield that day and I seen you fly past.
Still looking forward to hearing you relate wind to runway, decide configuration, final approach speed etc.
"Yep... Yep... Yep... Yep... Yep... Yep..." Does Sam always talk like that or is he just trolling you for the video? Either way it's pretty funny. Making you work hard.
Poor lad wearing dad's DC hand me down headsets with no ANR, while daddy has a BOSE ANR + goodness knows what other tech underneath. Back in 1999/2000 when I first started having flying lessons at age 12/13 respectively; I'd love to mention also that David Clark headsets were selling for 500+GBP. He is deffo trolling dad. Really nice to see a dad and son video.
A Spitfire parked next to you, so feckin cool!
my neck of the woods! used to live about 10 mins from Speke
They seem to have flattened out the notorious Barton Bump halfway down the runway. You'd think you were safely down, then wallop you were ten feet up again with no airspeed!
Hate to be that guy but that's not the iom at 6:54 that's the lake district
Glad you finally made it to my local aerodrome, did you get to the Greggs drive through? Barton used to have a decent air show in the 80s including the Red Arrows. I flew from there to Speke and back as a kid around 1970
I watched you land G-GALB on someone's live stream at Liverpool, very cool to see 👍
Noel, take the challenge, EGNF. A short runway....and only 15 minutes from Gamston...
Would love fly in that with you just chilling and chatting .Id just sit in back and enjoy the view
Noel flew over my house
Yep yep yep yep
how fun.
yep, yep, yeah, yep...... bless him
Yep! Yep! Yep! And on a lighter note, when we flew in to Barton in the late 1980s we were met in the bar "restaurant" by a load of toffee-nosed buggers - a real credit to the General Aviation community.
Was that a Honda jet next to the Spit?
For all the “yep” comments, sometimes in busy ATC areas, for passengers, it’s a little daunting and you don’t want to chat too much for fear of talking when atc are speaking. I’ve been in the right seat around LAX a few times and it’s non stop
Is Lima Bravo your plane, Noel?
not isle of man but black combe in cumbria!!
Yep!
Lol my son is the same . Luk at that ...... Yea
Pretty impressive Sam .... Yea ..... My son is so alike
City Airport ? It's Barton Aerodrome !!
Great video, but filled with questions! How much would a flight like this cost you in fuel? Do you own the plane or do you rent it? How much does that cost? I'd love to do something like this with my son one day.
An always the money questions..
@@s125ish I mean I ask as sometime who would want to do something like this some day, unless it costs an extravagant amount of money. Wish he had included it in the video.
@@hi55us2 Impossible to know Noel’s situation but I fly with a flying group and pay roughly £110 per time hour.
The training is much more expensive per hour, roughly £200/hr for 45-60 hours!
"Yeah"
Could you please call it City airport or City airport Manchester or even just Barton please Noel as opposed to manchester city airport? That name doesn't suit most people round here no matter what others may tell you.
Nice video Noel..and no sign of Josh...yeah.. i think its time to drop the Scouse accent..along with the loo reviews!
Dieting? Very wise!
Yep
