I think that the title can be read two ways. One is "Body Conquest" as you've done here, and the other is "Bodycon Quest", which is probably the more obvious way for a Japanese speaker, and closer to "Dragon Quest". "Bodycon", short for "Body Conscious", was a fashion trend in Japan in the 80s and 90s involving tight (often lycra or spandex) one-piece mini-dresses and high heels. The red tagline on the right side of the cover says "The ultimate bodycon parody". Not that there seems to be much bodycon fashion in the actual game.
Not the April Fool I expected, but a welcomed surprise! I am pretty sure the correct title should be *Bodycon Quest* , considering the obvious parody of Dragon Quest, the theme of the game and the period it released - Bodycon / _bodikon_ / ボディコン was a pretty common buzzword in Japan back then. I am not even sure the "Body Conquest" wordplay is intentional. (YT does not like links in comments but Wiktionary has a dedicated and worksafe English entry explaining ボディコン for anyone interested.)
the Dragon Quest IV "parody" box art is genius, it's so brazen outside of this being something Japanese players uh... got off if you know what I'm sayin also I'm somewhat familiar with that modified Famicom, I recall watching a Japanese RUclips video covering the specific one by Hacker
9:54 "This is another point where you're gonna wanna stop and GRIND for a while" takes on a new meaning in this game! Another REVEALING review, thanks... 😂
Oh, hah! I wasn't expecting you to cover this game of all things, just days after discovering your channel! I developed a NSFW homebrew game, inspired by BodyconQuest, a couple of years ago. It had an interface more inspired by Hydlide, though. Since it was a collaboration with an artist friend of mine, the smut was furry-themed, instead of anime-themed.
This comment was from 3 months ago, but if you are ever interested in making another homebrew NES game which is an RPG with pirates and sea shanties by yours truly, in the game world style of Tobidase Daisakusen, I just might have a game design document you've been looking for.
At first I was thinking, "Wait a minute, I don't remember this game coming out at this point in FDS history"... and then I looked at the calendar. Well played, sir.
The first chords to that overworld music make me think of that Gundam game that kept playing... Gosh, I had to look up whether it was Zeta Gundam's second opening or Gundam Double Zeta's second opening, even though I knew it was a Zeta Gundam game.
oh, so this is one of *those* games. and that logo looks awfully familiar. it sounds interesting, technically speaking at least. honestly haven't laughed this much at one of these in a while, so well done!
@@SuperKlondike64 oh you're probably right, but I mean the one on the box... obviously they went to far to be 'inspired by' DQ4 they even borrowed enxi's logo, lol.
Another interesting release by Hacker under their Indies Soft brand is the Comic Sakka series, which were either games of blackjack or just a much worse Gradius. What's intriguing is that for each game in the series, they collaborated with different manga artists for the anime girl designs.
I spent far too long comparing the art and trying to see the parody/rip-off. Not paying any attention to the title, text, etc. Because the images themselves don't really have much in common, however everything else, yeah, total rip-off.
@justmeherethereandeverywhere It's just the image itself that isn't stolen. The text with the castle in the background, the reversed Enix logo, and everything else _is_ the same.
I always wondered who the market for these games or those god awful atari games were, even during that time frame surely a nude mag or doujin would serve the same purpose and you wouldn't have to suffer through god awful gameplay to get to the bits you want. Regardless, great video as always.
Super Pig! What a cute mascot for such a disgusting company. April 1st is as good a time as any to cover a crappy unlicensed game. You should do this every April 1st!
I see that "totally *not* the Enix logo just rotated 180 degrees" and would like to know if there's any connection between the 2 (aside from ripping-off DQ).
I knew about these Hacker International guys but I wasn't aware that they actually did make " hacker " stuff. Oh yeah and they parodied the enix logo which is kinda funny

The way it's usually rendered with latin characters is Body ConQuest with the intercap, but that doesn't show up when you use all caps.
Thank you for protecting my virgin eyes, Disk-Kun. I must stay on the path of virtue!

somehow, for unlicensed NES/Famicom standards, this is top tier. The graphics and music are competent and it at least feels like an actual game

We need more furry games on the market.

@@Icelink256 Considering the tradition of PC eroge in Japan, I'd be very surprised if there weren't a few hentai Ys clones.
Thanks for the pics, bro. I'll try to make it work.
I ripped some sprites from this game on TSR, but I'm too much of a wuss to do the cutscenes.

I didn't know, a video output mod was even out there back in the day. Really cool!
I'm just really amused at the "we copied Dragon Quest's homework" map graphics paired with the imitation Ys combat.
Bootleg FDS games are fascinating
Bootleg NES games in general, really.
Wait the sequel?? Are you planning on covering pc engine games?? Truly we are already so blessed!!
good news :3

Still better than Outlanders, but maybe it's time to reevaluate some things 🤔
I'd rather play Super Monkey Daibouken than Outlanders.

Fitting for the first of April
$54 for five nude pictures and a demo-length RPG?
I'm glad porn was on the internet by the time I wanted to look it up. 😂
Sexy princesses _and_ sexy bosses, great value!
