I'm so over the whole we all gonna die pandemic fear. Wear that darned special occasion dress to the Dollar Store, look good, it's perfectly fine to feel good in whatever you want to wear where ever you want to wear it. Start living!!! I thought the look book was pretty classy, great job bringing it to us! ......editing to say I LOVE the jumpsuit look but HATE having to strip down to go to the bathroom.
I have never liked the asymmetric pieces hanging off tops, dresses, and skirts-they all look alike to me and “homemade”. I actually liked the halter top jumpsuit but not for my age bracket, reminds me so much of the seventies.
Don’t get me wrong-I don’t like any of these patterns but I think you may be off base with the timing of this release. I feel like with the end of the pandemic all the vacations and weddings and events that got postponed are going to explode in the coming year and we will have allll the parties to go to. So I actually think they are being pretty smart giving us fancy designs so when those things start popping up we’ll be ready. I just wish the actual patterns were more to my taste.
You are so amazing! I am glad that you talked a minute about Rachel Comey because I have V1501, and am going to look for V1799 along with V1645 (because I love the Zadie jumpsuit after making it this year, and it looks like a similar effect). You've inspired some sewing for sure!
Hi Lindsey - Thanks for another great review. I really appreciate when you point out things to check for in regards to fit based on how the garment looks on the model. So helpful! With SO many raglan sleeves across all pattern makers this season, I wonder if you'd consider doing a tutorial on fitting 2-piece raglans? Mine end up looking like I need 1980s 2" shoulder pads!
I’m obviously not their target demographic, lol. You said things as I thought them. (Caftan, ice skating, uniform, water wings) I🤣 I’m glad there are other options.
I just realized Vogue is where I need to go for the tailored things I want to make for my sons. Went through some old patterns trying to Frankenstein some favorite aspects for slacks. Found a Vogue one that, no lie, had every single aspect I was looking for in the one pattern. I was shocked and happy, but mad at myself for overlooking it and making about 3 pair that I just wasn't happy with from other designers.
I get your opinions, but as a musician I hope I can finally go back to having concerts anytime soon, and these fancy skirts would be perfect for that.. I do hope this will be coming back! 😉🥺
All wrapped up like a big pink present for the Zandra Rhodes dress. But the dress lines are really nice! I laughed out loud at water wings in V1800! I thought of balloons when I saw it.
I find vogue patterns to be very nice. I’m intimidated to try. But I’m going to do so!!! I was like 😮 when you said the dress looks like a choir gown 😭
Love the tops by Marcy and Sandra. And I also think some of the dresses were holdovers from this same time last year. p.s. Every time your computer dinged for a new email, I looked at my inbox. haha.
The line drawing for V1803 looks like an old-fashioed night dress. V1809 is from between the WW1 and WW2 as well as held over into the 1950s. Many young unmarried women lived either at home until marriage or shared an apt = how you got the buttons done up. Same time stamp for V1815 pants.
I loved the dress with the pink belt. Probably because everything else looked like a tent or was a way too deep v neck. And that’s saying something for me because I don’t usually fancy scarf type hems. Anyway it’s still nice to see what everyone else will be wearing 😀
I love the first pair of pants I love the last pair of pants. The little vest the front is gorgeous the back not so much doesn’t have enough fit. What’s with all the baggy baggy dresses. Yes I know it’s just my opinion. Shall we go work on the farm. And yes I can say that because I have a small farm come on vogue step it up a bit more
Yay Zandra- Sandra-MarciT ? The bias stripe loose fit shorter length with a wide belt? cause I liked the bias sleeves or in chiffon with a flesh coloured slip.
Thank you for these videos. I know they take a lot of time and effort. And thank you for taking the pandemic seriously! There’s a light at the end of the tunnel now.... but even so, I don’t know if these are the clothes I want to wear when outside opens back up. 😂
Re the buttons/snaps situation of the 1809, I’m thinking it might be a case of the snaps are sewn on the inside with the buttons over them on the outside which would cover any stitches that might come through and add an interesting detail? Loved your extra sass in this one, I really like the black/white chevron dress but I’ve unsurprisingly got nowhere to go in it, I think we’ve all been living Cinderella’s life for way too long and maybe the day will come when it’ll be one long party 😂
Just because you can doesn't mean you should! LOL! Great remark! I think with some of these styles they are trying to boost sales for fabric companies!
Are they really telling us that shoulder pads are back?? Those needs to stay on the 80’s. Some Vogue patterns are okay but all in all my life is too practical for Vogue patterns. But I do love some of the details Thank you for doing these videos, they are super fun to view! :)
I’ve never liked shoulder pads and have always ripped them out apart from ones in tailored jackets, thankfully my shoulders are pretty level so I don’t need them and American footballer isn’t the look I’m going for 😂
Mostly blah for me ...more big loose fitting for taller people I guess... Looser fitting is nice for summer, but Vogue patterns are excessive in the fabric requirements...V1809 is nice 40s style blouse....Great review as always Lindsey! Thank you!
That red dress with the tie in the back is just the same old tent dress, but it has a bow collar. Just make it in cotton or linen and it's casual. The high collar is not summery. This dress can be formal or casual depending on the fabric.
I plan to go to as many Bday parties, Weddings, picnics and church services I can. There are vaccines and testing facilities every where. Take all necessary precautions but LIVE a life worth living. Match the mask to the pretty dress should be your next #. Love to listen to you reviews!
#1802 looks super casual to me just as is. It looks perfect for summertime especially if they suggest fabrics like seersucker. I would never wear that dress to anything formal
“THE 2020 of me doesnt’ want to alter” You read my mind. I’m over it, but alas…. we have to. You had me in stitches in some of these comments like the 2.5 yards of fabric on that belt… Yeah not gonna happen. In all seriousness, I gotta tell you, not loving this Vogue collection this time around. I’m gonna pass on Vogue summer altogether. I’m not going to a gala party anytime soon but I would at least expect a handful of dresses I can wear to a restaurant.
That formal skirt would be adorable on you in a more casual cotton. Maybe the broadcloth suggestion? Also, seems like you’d have lots of fabric left from that 6 yards of border print to make a second shirt, say a tee or cami.
'[Insert pattern name here] is too fancy for everyday wear.' Or- orrrrrrr...! You can shun the ridiculous notions of societal norms and wear a prom dress to get groceries. Who's really gonna tell you off for wearing it? And if someone does have the nerve to try dulling your sparkle, tell 'em it ain't their call to make.
I like the artistic flair of marcy tiltons designs especially this one. Also like sandra betzinas pattern. Some of these vogue patterns have to many fussy details, too much going on.
I like the red dress but not the tie; hence no need to purchase. Like the first jumpsuit but with a non-shear fabric so no need for shorts. Sandra’s was one I would consider purchasing but I’ve made so many capris already for summer, so I really need another pattern??? Not really anything to get excited about-if I don’t count the ridiculous amounts of fabric required. Sorry, Vogue, I usually love you but not this time around.
Vogue patterns have always been avant-garde. Translation: their highlighted collection has always been butt-ugly. Even when I was in my 20's (back in the 80's), I remember saying yuck! to all of their front pages fashions.
I was not impressed with the summer offerings from Vogue. I have plenty of patterns to choose from so I’m passing on these. Nothing was catching my eye or what I would add to my wardrobe. I have some McCalls that I just bought for the $1.99 sale that I am eager to make.
You read my mind. The bias cut dress in light green looks like a choir robe when you see the line drawing. The Big Four need better designers. New ideas are lacking.
The first few patterns I love. I wish I didn't need to wear a bra because I'd make all of them. Would definitely like to make the first one with the sheer legs. Love that detail. I also love the wide leg pants at the end and the dress that's so similar to V9013 (I think.) Overall, the in-house patterns are solid offerings. But boy, the designer patterns, just awful. The Platt and Rhodes patterns look so dated and weird and the Covey dresses give me hospital gown vibes. I don't know how some of the designers Vogue works with fits into the aesthetic they are going for. Some nice patterns otherwise.
Ugh, sorry but most of these outfits log like bags and not flattering for a lot of body types. Plus those super wide pants, they just drag a person down in height, great if you’re tall, not so great when you’re short.
Does anyone even sell gabardine? Ye gads I hope not... Terrible fabric.. So hot and terrible for the planet, skin, etc. I live in the desert, so I'm about the linen, cotton, rayon, and the likes Lol how did Vogue ruin lagenlook even?? I'm so smh confused by this collection. But as always, like the review. Thank you!
What the hell has happened to the pattern designers?? ESP simplicity? Everyone is going for old woman vibe. New sewers are not wanting old lady. Lots of New sewers are making corsets and tight fitting things or cottage core. I don’t know why they are making these horrible patterns.
Your use of "old woman vibe" and "old lady" is incredibly demeaning. Everybody ages, hopefully, and with that aging comes some changes in muscle mass etc. Wearing looser clothing usually happens because comfort becomes a greater consideration.
I'm so over the whole we all gonna die pandemic fear. I adore the halter jumpsuit!

I really like that ridiculous plaid. It's a lovely pattern. I made something like this in the eighties out of a wool blend.
You are so amazing! I am glad that you talked a minute about Rachel Comey because I have V1501, and am going to look for V1799 along with V1645 (because I love the Zadie jumpsuit after making it this year, and it looks like a similar effect). You've inspired some sewing for sure!
I like most of these patterns.
I really like the last pair of pants.

I liked a few! Thanks for the preview

That asymmetrical skirt with the pieces missing in the front and back would be a cool concert or event skirt!
@@theresasmith1000 definitely 👌🙂
Love your reviews
V1801 reminds me of one of the characters on an old TV show, Threes Company. LOL. And yes, water wings are a wonderful kids swimming pool thing.
All wrapped up like a big pink present for the Zandra Rhodes dress. But the dress lines are really nice! I laughed out loud at water wings in V1800! I thought of balloons when I saw it.

Thank you, Lindsey. It helps to see this mess through another’s view, knowing it is not just me either. ~ L

The tunic is the only one I would wear. But all those buttons!
I always love your pattern commentaries. If you haven't done liesl & co and sew over it, please put them on your list. I would love your impression.
I still like Vogue😀

I paid $33. Canadian for vogue on sale at 40%off. Still $18. I don’t know how they sell any here!
Just because you can doesn't mean you should! LOL! Great remark! I think with some of these styles they are trying to boost sales for fabric companies!
"Silk Mikado" IS polyester. It has a smidgen of actual silk in it.
Ahhhh! Thanks for that tidbit of knowledge!!

I’d like to see some older models here. What is Vogue’s demographic?
It would be helpful if you looked at the patterns in the store to see what some of the construction techniques are that you question.
Mostly blah for me ...more big loose fitting for taller people I guess... Looser fitting is nice for summer, but Vogue patterns are excessive in the fabric requirements...V1809 is nice 40s style blouse....Great review as always Lindsey! Thank you!
I noticed these Vogue patterns were $5.99. Where can I buy these.
Joanne sells them for 5.99 when they have their sales
Something delightful dot com.
Do you think she has shoulder pads in the bias cut dress?
I do not.

Clearly I don't have a Vogue lifestyle. Truthfully I never did. HaHaHa!

To be fair, I think some of the indie company designs give off hospital gown vibes. Or Handmaid’s Tale.
@leslie Beachwood I won't argue with you there!
Fabulously reviewed as always 👌 🙌 😉😘
@aloadofbobbins
Good lord. I feel bad for Vogue. I used to love their patterns. There isn’t 1 thing in the collection I would wear.
😩
Not to mention black and white says waitress

Can’t see me buying any vogue patterns from this collection at all. What a disappointment.
I don’t get Vogue this time around. Disappointed overall so thumbs down 👎
Plat stuff is so ugly even for us older ladies. Icky
Horrible.
How disappointing.
What the hell has happened to the pattern designers?? ESP simplicity? Everyone is going for old woman vibe. New sewers are not wanting old lady. Lots of New sewers are making corsets and tight fitting things or cottage core. I don’t know why they are making these horrible patterns.
Sweetheart I’m a 66-year-old woman and I wouldn’t wear 99% of the stuff. I still wear fitted clothes high-heeled boots hats scarves sexy attire

@@marec61354 lol, Get over yourself I’m 66 so I can use it maybe you can’t but I can. So I will keep using it. LOL
I think more people are going with indie patterns.
