When I go into a bar and see the singles scene I swear the lyrics 'Everyone here knows everyone here is thinking about somebody else. Well it's best if we all keep this under our heads" fit's the scene like a glove. This song makes me think that my heartbreak isn't the only one that matters and I see friends in just ordinary strangers. Since we are all trying to find love and get by in this cruel world. So I always play this song on the jukebox.
This is still one of my top favorite songs of all time, Rob has the gift 🎉!👨🚒⚡️💥✨He has a way of reaching into your soul with this! What ever you have gone through, music can get deeper than anything , except Jesus . Jesus is Lord!
That's a bunch of bs ofcourse, even aside from the original artist still making new music, there's millions of musicians on our planet, so there's probably multiple bands making music like this.
My mom passed away from a drug overdose in 2011...My sister and I got a tattoo dedicated to this song and my mom, we listened to the song in the car in the way to the consultation not knowing what we had wanted... after hearing “we’re all grown now, yeah but we don’t know how to get it back to good,” - we knew within an instant that this would be a part of it. We miss our mom immensely and this song defined it perfectly.
I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you are able to forgive your mom for her shortcomings. I've been clean for 13 years now and as an addict, I can tell you, we never stop loving our families, there's just a drug that takes first priority and it's not on purpose. Our brains are just too strong and powerful. They know what our body wants and it overpowers everything else. Again I'm sorry
Crazy how this song meant something totally different when I was in my early 20s. I'm 36, now. Today is the first time I've listen to this song in over a decade. Now I actually understand what the song is about. #lifelessons.
@JesusLovesGunViolence I don't think I actually quite knew or understood exactly what the song was saying. I just liked it for whatever reason. Typical teen heartbreaks and "love" that you don't even understand then, but u think u do. Then ur an adult and you REALLY get it and understand. Idk. It like I never really understood this song until I heard it again a few weeks ago. Can't really explain it. Just life things I guess. 🤷♀️
Reminds me of one of the most painful times of my life..and yet I can't help but listen to it.... this song says sooo much....its about REAL LIFE. ..Just wondering will it EVER BE BACK TO GOOD????
One of the best singers of our time seriously. Rob Thomas is so underrated. I cant think of anyone who ...cones close as far as emotion and. Inflection... and he sounds even better live. He is so good...no one can capture and feel a song like he can .no one.
Aerosmith came to Charlotte NC in 2004 and was byfar the best concert I've every been to and I've seen Jason aldean, Motley crew, Trent tomlinson, Wayne Newton, jimmy wayne, Avenge sevenfold, 3 doors down, kid rock, Aerosmith
"If you see me out, you dont know me. Try to turn your head, try and give me some room to figure out just what Im gonna do." That gets me every time. So sad.
21 years old almost 22, my uncle recommended me this band, I’m truly mind blown. This is the first song I’m hearing from them and I can’t wait to hear what more they came out with.
So my interpretation of this song is that there are three very different parts/stages. At first he is trying to rationalize that what he is doing is normal. The second is him asking if he’s the only one thinking this way. The third is that he’s decided that there’s no “getting back to good.” Honestly, it’s heartbreaking. It kind of reminds me of someone who rationalizes cheating, but realizes in the end that they messed up. There is no getting back to good.
I think that, if you really scrutinize the lyrics, you will see that your phases of the song are right but the context is deeper. He is definitely trying to convince someone to leave with him and he is using that to convince himself to leave with them... But thats not all. Each verse he is less specific in his words but his meaning cuts closer to his personal feelings that he alludes to when he says "I won't go there 'cause I don't want to." In verse one he is trying to not think about why he is trying to talk them into coming, that being his old relationship has imploded. His summery is that he's lonely and he can't fix his old relationship anyway. In Verse two we see more of his feelings as he tris to assert that the person he is talking to can't claim control over him. He is just getting through the hurt caused by the previous love trying to tell him what he could think and how he was allowed to feel. The puzzle of the death of his relationship is coming together. In verse three we get the last pieces: he had been thinking of infidelity. I think its implied that he hadn't ACTED on the thoughts because of verse two and the line "everyone hides SHADES of shame." However, old flame learned of his thoughts and counted it as being as bad as actually following through on the fantasy and terminated the relationship. His mind replays to that point and he is forced to confront what he didn't want to talk about in verse one. Its over now. He tries to return to his first verse intent, "lets keep this under our belts" but he can't convince himself and he falls back into the despair hes been trying to escape with the whole scene. It's over now and he can't get back to good. Sorry for the wall of text. I've been stewing on these lyrics for a couple of hours and needed to spew them out somewhere.
I love matchbox 20 songs, because certain lyrics relate to my love life, then the next could deal with my friends, the next about one friend in particular, the next how I see myself... I love it :)
I think this one has been playing quietly in the background of my life for like 20 years and seriously I didn't acknowledge it existed until I was walking through Wal Mart about a month ago and I heard this softly in the background and it was like a weird switch activated in my brain that I knew that song all along - so now it will be my karaoke anthem going forward :)
I'm not sad or emo, but it keeps me play it over and over again. So many songs on my playlist that sang by Lifehouse, Incubus, 3 Doors Down, Blink 182, Dishwalla, Staind, Gin Blossoms, Goo Goo Dolls etc.. but this song of Matchbox 20, keeps me wondering why? "I couldn't tell, if anyone here was feeling the way I do"

To me then it was soley about cheating either emotionally or physically. The more I've listened to it, it's deeper than that. "Everyone here hides shades of shame" tells me that he's saying no one can be accusive bc "we all have something going on, and this is mine, mind your own shit." This songs tells a story of a very long and draining time in 2peoples life that got crazier to the end but alot of learning and thought at this moment of discussion ones trying the other knows nothing but the bed sad but hey life's lessons
This song is really speaking to me now. I've always loves this song but it's until decades later that I find myself relating to it in a very specific manner.
Hi! I'm a fat Hispanic guy and I'll be doing this at karaoke for the first time tonight. This has been Random, Usless Knowledge, with your host, Fake Magic Mike! Good day! 😂

Valeshia Lloyd yeah I hear ya, there are some good ones out there. And some really talented artists as well. The problem is that they have to compete with the other idiot's out there that don't really make any sense or real music for that matter. So they have to make thier name then go on to show thier real talent.
I love this song - could listen to it over & over and definitely agree with what someone else said that it says so much! I know if there was a way I could get things back to good, I sure would do it!
(Live at philips arena).. back 2 good by matchbox 20. It's the freaking beeesssttttt!!!!!! Most live songs are horrificly terrible!!! But, the live philips arena one is the absolute best. Just by the way he moves and sings and feels the song. Its beautiful
This a very important song to me it was at a crazy time in my life. This song came out at the Sametime I was in somewhat of a relationship with long time girlfriend and reconnected with a girl from a my passed. She was also in relationship we talked some but I was real excited to see the next time. we'll we did both of us parted ways with the other people were involved with. almost 19yrs ago and we are still together. this song told how my life was going all those years ago. there's never getting back good... keep ur head up
It’s all good but there’s no getting back to good.
If you could get it back you would still have it to begin with. stop wondering. It breeds hope💔💭
@@southernhot9259 aww Southern hot- u right-don't be breeding hope all over the place
What's wrong with hope????
i've just been sitting on my own tonight like a wee nigel no pals, been drinking lots of beer and feck knows why but thought i'd go on youtube and start listening to any old songs i could rememebr from my younger (only slighter younger!) days. listened to probably all their older songs tonight talk about nostalgia who needs to go out what a great night i've had almost brought tears to my eyes!! Love them so much! Their Concert Performance in August at Jones Beach Theater was awesome! Rob has a powerful, beautiful voice.
That’s so funny I was reading the comenta about this song and I was there too at that concert always go to New York and I go to that beach all the time wow so cool
God, talk about a 90s throwback. This song definitely hits a chord in me. What are everyone else's fav Matchbox 20 songs? Let's start a tally
Push is my favorite. This one is good too, though, or I wouldn't be here.
+Shane Hennenhoefer unwell, push, if your gone
Shame, very catchy and has really good songwriting.
Shane Hennenhoefer Unwell for sure. the best anxiety reducer I've ever seen. I also enjoy if you're gone and long day.
Obviously, Back 2 Good, but also 3 AM , Bright Lights, and Real World.
I've had this song stuck in my head for the past week and I'm not sure why. It's been years since I've heard it on the radio. Definitely a good song. :)
This songs tells a story of a very long and draining time in 2peoples life that got crazier to the end but alot of learning and thought at this moment of discussion ones trying the other knows nothing but the bed sad but hey life's lessons
This song is really speaking to me now. I've always loves this song but it's until decades later that I find myself relating to it in a very specific manner.

Such sweet heartache. I think we can all relate. I love this song.
When self-destruction looms, there's sometimes just no solution but to leave.
Amen....

i love nostalgia brings back so much memories i miss the songs of 70s 80s 90s and 2000 i just wished the songs now made more sense but they don't all they have nae nae and hit this and do that what happened to songs
Valeshia Lloyd ŕ.a
That's just the mainstream. Most of the good music is hidden.
Isn't that the truth!!
