Great video, i just ordered my son-in-law the Sand Scorcher Bug and i'm getting one to, we're going to build them together. Back in 1982 i had a real 1969 bug with a really hot engine in it cut down just exactly like the Sand Scorcher. My son-in-law has a 1970 bug (not chopped down) he is restoring now, it runs good and he drives it but he's restoring it back to original, Take care my friend, Terry
Nice! I was (and still am) so happy to hear about the re-release of the Sand Scorcher, i couln't afford on back in the day. Sounds like you still have the Bug virus and passed it on to your son-in-law ;-) Eight years ago i finished someones 1975 Beetle restoration project and bought it. Great little car which is big fun to drive through the narrow streets and roads here. The Sand Scorcher always accompanies me to Beetle meetings. Have fun building and driving them my friend!
***** I'm still surprised how well it handles everytime i take it out on some trail ride. Seems like the sand is the only surface it struggles with, lol! Thanks for stopping by brother, i hope you're well!
tomnwoo It's been too long since i've made a Scorcher video, so this one's for the Scorcher fans! Thanks for the great compliment mate, i'm glad you liked it!
Cool video my friend and a welcome return its been too long. I hear you about the time and weather buddy. So glad you found some free time. Freaky that I also found myself out with an RC bug. Great minds think alike hey. I love mine but ooh I wish I had one like yours!
paulmcnamara16 You've got my attention, i'll check that out in a couple of minutes! It was about time i took it out for a ride, wasn't it. Thanks for stopping by and don't worry mate, i'll see you end up with one sooner or later ;)
Really enjoyed was very easy going, that bug looks really smart, I like the catch protective cages in the window :-) the specs, look and performance of the thing are all pretty darn sweet :-p
battonfive For the (extra) weight and the 30-year old design, it still surprises me how well this Bug handles. I'll have to do this again with my other one, which i "redesigned" to be more of a lightweight classic racer (which might turn into a nice video). It's such a great car to make parts for and it's never done, glad i bought it :D Thanks for watching mate!
2stroke4me welcome ji :-p mm the extra weight might be the thing giving it that realistic feel :-) it would be cool to see your other redesign and see it on similar terrain to make a comparison :-p It does look pretty solid something tells me I will break before that bug does :-p I cant find the 'parts print' button on this keyboard :-) would be so frigging handy :-D
battonfive It does but the weight also makes it handle bad on higher speed, which is why i geared it down. The other one is made for better handling and has got high speed gearing. You bet it's solid, the bodyshell is an integral part of the chassis' stiffness. I've made a more rigid chassis and braces for the lightweight Scorcher so the bodyshell's rigidity is excluded. A parts print button, oh yes, that would be handy ;-)
2stroke4me mmm the gear down does suit the shell well and the crawling :-) I like the feel the weight and speed give here :-D like a gentle 1:1 scale rock when driving over stuff, not to much tilt, not to little tilt justttt right :-) Lol the Scorcher sounds like the uncontrollable older brother of the duo :-) looking forward to seeing how it moves and takes the corners :-)
Nice Scorcher footage, always looks awesome on the trails! Haven't seen you in a bit and hope all is well brother. I am not sure yet but I may be getting a Scorcher soon as a very welcome surprise gift from someone called the RC Elf! Hope to hear from you soon!
Hey my friend. I'm taking a break from RUclips at the moment. My brother recently passed away and i'm having a very hard time coping with it. The pain in my back, leg and neck are playing up badly for the last couple of months. But i'm working on a project and a video about it. The Scorcher would be an awesome gift brother! You're going to love building and driving it, guaranteed!
@@2stroke4me My condolences on the loss of your brother my friend, it truly saddens me to hear of this and I can only imagine how hard it is for you and your family. Be strong and know that his spirit will always be with you. I got the original Scorcher at the end of 1979 and had it many years before regretfully selling it in hard times. I don't know if you have heard of the RC Elf but he has been generously gifting many channels with the blessings of RC's, mostly Tamiyas. I happened to be one of them. It is crazy to see this RC car come back to me in this way for it was my first kit built hobby grade RC and sparked my passion for RC so many years ago! Stay strong and recover quickly brother. I look forward to seeing you soon!
Thanks brother! I remember seeing the Scorcher at a hobby shop, but couldnt afford it. By the time i could, it was no longer sold. The re-release was the best thing ever! Never heard of the RC Elf, but it sure sounds like a very nice gesture!
@@2stroke4me You're very welcome my friend. It has always been a pricey kit even in 79. Look around the RC channels the RC Elf has gifted many people around the world. If it wasn't for the re release I would not be receiving this amazing gift of kindness. Now I'm off to watch your video! :-)
@@mikesrcgarage Amazing! I just searched for RC Elf and there's loads of RC channels blessed with gifts :D We need these kind of people to support RC channels! Can't wait to see your unboxing and "How to make a Sand Scorcher" video (no pressure) ;-)
BTCC90s Hi mate, at the moment i'm not capable of making any videos due to a spinal injury :( But i've made some onboard videos in the past: ruclips.net/video/d_IC3JzfM0A/видео.html ruclips.net/video/lEQOkUGV1C4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/wosN8cNdw10/видео.html If you haven't seen these before, enjoy them :)
Ben eens benieuwd! :)
That's the thing with RC videos. The first week or so they get watched by subscribers and then go into obscurity. RC is not a trend (unfortunately) and rarely recommended by RUclips.
one of the best looking rcs tamiya ever made in my opinion
I can only agree :-)
Nice to see the Sand Scorcher again!
***** It was nice to drive it again too :) Thanks for stopping by Matteo!
That's an awesome Sand Scorcher! Looking great on the trails! :D
Thanks my friend! It's a surprisingly capable offroader and it's a lot of fun driving it!

Shame bout software buddy but so glad you persevered. It was a joy to watch as always
