“Knowing that it was You who took life, death is sweet. As long as I am with You, death is even sweeter than life itself.” - Rumi Rumi is a devout Muslim, while many Muslims obey by force for fear of hell, Rumi obeys his creator out of love.
They have been trying very hard to detach him from his deeply Sufic path and portray him as some sort of secular poetic genius. They should think why he was being revered and referred to as Moulana. He was a muslim and a Sufi saint.

I disagree with this overzealous Muslim. Rumi never restricted himself to a religion. Religions and false Gods were created by ignorant minds. Deepak Chopra is closer to the truth.
Let me guess, you read translated whitewashed work of Rumi instead from its original language? His name is Maulana Jalaluddin. Yes!! Westerners think of Mawlana and his works as completely divorced from Islam. But Mawlana’s poetry and love come from Islam.
Don't call him Mawlana do you even know what that means in Arabic? Our Mawlana is one and that is Allah alone!!!! This is SHIRK!!

The poem in Persia:
من بنده قرآنم اگر جان دارم
من خاك در محمد مختارم
گر نقل كند جز اين كس از گفتارم
بيزارم از او وز اين سخن بيزارم
you can't even fully understand his work if you don't accept his background ie being a Muslim.
This is Absurd to think that Molana Rumi wasn't a Muslim.
No it's Not, he's a Kafir.
Strange that the majority of Muslims, especially Sunni, consider him and Sufism in general, to be heretical.
