  • Playing low C#, B, and Bb is not an easy task for any saxophone player and there's certain things you have to consider when playing these notes.
Firstly, remember to blow lots of air to prevent the notes from breaking. Secondly, your left pinky has to roll smoothly between the keys.

What's your experience with low notes? Which note is the worst for you? C#, B or Bb?

Very constructive, Martino! Thank you. I haven't gone that low just yet😁. However, tried and had a problem as you said with pinky. Staying in mid and high range. Perhaps, this is a time to start to explore....

Yes, you can start experimenting with low C#, B and Bb so you get used to using your pinky and explore new ways of blowing as well :)

Thanks Martino, you give a clear answer to the problem of low notes. But in addition to blowing hard, do you also agree that you have to work on the mouthpiece by keeping your lips tight? I remember that by forcefully controlling the air outlet, pressing the lips together reduced fatigue. Do you agree?
