Also, double or triple walling your base with intra-layer turrets is ideal. In the pvp server im on, im building a triple-layer metal base with turrets in the main room, 1st inner layer, 2nd inner layer, and the outside walls
bait bases have saved me so many times, usually I spend more resources on bait bases than I real real bases, be sure to put a dodo loaded with chow and c4 between all the foundations, then there's the time waster bases where you make a super nice base then don't use it and leave everything empty
My problem is that when people on my server have stegos with 186 armor saddles that reduce turret damage down to 6 per shot there's just no way to outlast that soak. I built a under water cave base and would harpoon the stego an knock them off but with a 100k hp stego that only takes 6 dmg per shot...there's no way.
Try walking your tek stego into ky turrets...rip. oh and also don't forget to throw a man powered turret down as well. I've thwarted many of raid using a rocket turret....God tek stegos don't like rocket turrets....or rock golem lmfao. Some quick tips. Use a few bear traps spread them out don't waste resources spamming them in 1 spot. 1 rockets deletes them, use velos and small fast dinos that are easy to tame as base defense as well there usually fast hard to hit and distract raiders easily. Use a mix of heavy and tek turrets for best effect. Use a few plant species x. Build fence foundations in a box around crop plot to defend them better. Build spike walls further from your base and inside your inner base defense walls. Use living spike walls as well aka kentros, if someone tries soaking with tek stego go naked with 1 c4 and run up and start blowing that stego up. Use rockets poison grenades and tranqs against tek stegos highly effective especially the tranqs because they take full torpor from tranq even tho reduced damage. There's many many other tips but that's what ya get from me for now best of luck defending your base survivors.
@@xD3m0nx there is a better way now for plant x protection. Build one foundy and lower it with pillar then lower it again with foundy next to it then place crop plot on second foundy and then place foundation over the crop plant leveled with the first foundation then use stairs all around it on all four sides, that's the most protected x plant with the more range of fire for the plant x

Dinos still can walk over them like over ground so I don't see how they are better than just the ground

In fact I tend to put it down first as hide and meat and off meat is always useful. I just was wondering about how you would use them in combination with the things you showed here. I know rex and there like can walk over them, but I don't just have one I have them on different angles around the place, but in combi with turrets , just interested.
Overall good beginner info. No seriously a lot of ppl need this. Only issue is plant x has to be armored. Teach, I’ve never seen this but doesn’t the spiderweb of hatch frames create LOS. I’m thinking someone could crawl under it.
Plant x doesn't necessarily need to be armored, it definitely can be and it will always help, however in a cave like oil cave you could easily put a couple in close to the wall. In a situation like that, the wall would need to be destroyed before you can drop them anyways. On top of that, realistically it doesn't matter how armored your plant x are if you don't have any other turrets

It's a lot harder to learn creativity than game mechanics, anyone can know tons about the game, not everyone can use those game mechanics in the way he does and it's insane some of the things he pulls off, even if it is just proof of concept.
Some issues I see with this are 1. I do agree SOME ground turrets can benefit your defense but there is a reason you see so many people making turrents walls instead of this. Simply put ground turrets are very easy to avoid as a simple Pterdon with a decent saddle could barrel roll over them. They take up space and force you to minimize turret damage potential as for the small reward of extended defensive time but this will most likely backfire as any flying or wall climbing creature would have no problem grazing through . But I do agree that they are good for choke points and to help cause pressure and distance for your turrents walls 2. Regarding turrents settings, for heavys you always want to have them on medium or low distance for targeting as once they are all soaked by any player an easy rocket run would take everything down. I always have my Tek on high (player and tames) And most of my heavys on medium ( player only) as they will still shoot the tamed dino if it is blocking LOS of the player 3. The hatch frame spam you mentioned really would have a LOS problem. Not only that but you preach the idea of "destroying all hatch frames" when someone would just obviously destroy the turrents instead so this is just a extremely resource expensive way of having ground turrents. I don't think people realize how expensive giant hatch frames are to craft..

the point is to add raid cost and delay, yes it does work very well, my 6k hours have proven that, setup alarms so you know when a raid starts and you always have time to log on and defend, before turrets limits was introduced it should take raiders close to an hour to offline you, giving ample time for counters as well@@James-zx4us
