As a person with Chronic depression, I can actually relate with a lot of this. Like how people and friends say they care, but you say other wise. And trying to do something to feel better, except it doesn't work. I also even get panic attacks as well. Not to mention dark thoughts. Regardless of all the failures that came out the Sonic franchise, many great games have also come out of it including the fan games. Also, the 2020 movie was able to do something the majority of video game movies couldn't: be successful.
Frontiers actually brought along more fans of the series than haters. The DMC5 and MGRR stans, veterans who wanted to try a newer installment out for nostalgia's sake, newer fans who only know about a blue hedgehog that was one of the most successful of the gaming industry as a whole. And the game awards? They were just jealous that Sonic was a good game and Genshin Impact wasn't.

You will keep encountering them as that just how life goes,. And if you don't like that thought, well.. I completely understand. However, you have got to accept that life isn't about winning or keeping the good things consistent (as much as we would like that idea), it's actually about living and learning. I've been taught, that in order to reach your highest points, you need your lowest points. As a wise person once said ''Never quit! If you stumble, get back up. What happened yesterday, no longer matters. Today is another day, so get back on track. Move closer to your goals!''

Also, for a hint to lean you into the right direction(incase you missed it), the final choices have a couple of red herrings, that is to say, there'll be choices where one may seem like the obvious answer, however, it's actually the opposite choice. (As a tip of advice, when someone is having a nervous breakdown, which Sonic is having by the time you reach Blue Peak, they don't always think straight, this should help out a bit) And again, thanks for the feedback, it'll help me to know what to do when adding the rest of the game's content.

Sonic's franchise had a really good name and number against Mario back when he was first released, but getting into 3D like the Adventure series, Sonic Heroes, Sonic '06 especially and others, had no exact plot or good gameplay either. They were full of bugs, and the Boom series, I heard that's probably the worst of all, if you add the redesign of characters to those other reasons. Imagine Sonic going through all of this criticism, and added neglect of Sega about his fame. Won't he be breaking too? Won't he have depression? The things that happen in the are unfortunately what most people with depression feel like: it’s a never ending cycle you have to keep fighting and it’s either sink or swim…. As a person with depression with the right support systems and therapist you can get through it struggles and all but some it’s harder… to those who struggle like myself with depression and every dark part with it: you are all wonderful people and even when you guys don’t have the support or enough support, there’s always a person known or not in your corner

Honestly I was trying not to cry from this. I have always loved him ever since I was younger (ignoring the fact I was in love with him) and then just him saying those fans do that to him just makes me super mad. Personally i feel like the game is selling you more on the story itself than the gameplay, which i don't really see as a bad thing. Cause given past events with Sonic Colors Ultimate and Sonic Forces it's understandable some fans would think Sonic is in the same rut he was in back in during the mid 2000s.

Me talking to sonic directly: Sonic, depression is a tough and horrid thing but finding where it stems from is step one. Now you said before that, fans are partially to blame due to the fact that they make you look worse because they constantly judge you negatively. I’m not one of those fans… I’m a fan who genuinely wants this series to succeed so badly. It makes me sad too when sonic games become a laughing stock when I know there have been games that have been wonderful shining examples of true potential. I have longed for the day when sonic games will move out of that phase of hit or miss. I also want to clarify that I am also not one of those disgusting fans who decide to bastardize you with horrendous and cringy art. I am deeply invested in the REAL story of sonic. There will be a day where this series will live and breathe again, hopefully it comes soon with the eventual release of frontiers.
Man when there was a choice of Mania vs Unleashed, both should work honestly Unleashed in recent years has just become a playground of fun, a cult classic of modern titles, and, in my opinion, one of the best modern titles out there to date. There's a lot of love in the community and uh, Don't be afraid to reach out, even if you have to call a hotline or finally set up a meeting/appointment with family or a doctor. Don't bottle it up until it gets this bad. Don't do it. I know i'm a big fat hypocrite because I'm in a constant cycle of the pain, but, don't do it, just, put yourself out to get help. Sonic, depression is a tough and horrid thing but finding where it stems from is step one. Now you said before that, fans are partially to blame due to the fact that they make you look worse because they constantly judge you negatively. I’m not one of those fans… I’m a fan who genuinely wants this series to succeed so badly. It makes me sad too when sonic games become a laughing stock when I know there have been games that have been wonderful shining examples of true potential. I have longed for the day when sonic games will move out of that phase of hit or miss. I also want to clarify that I am also not one of those disgusting fans who decide to bastardize you with horrendous and cringy art. I am deeply invested in the REAL story of sonic. There will be a day where this series will live and breathe again, hopefully it comes soon with the eventual release of frontiers.

Unleashed in recent years has just become a playground of fun, a cult classic of modern titles, and, in my opinion, one of the best modern titles out there to date. There's a lot of love in the community and uh, Don't be afraid to reach out, even if you have to call a hotline or finally set up a meeting/appointment with family or a doctor.
Don't bottle it up until it gets this bad. Don't do it.
I know i'm a big fat hypocrite because I'm in a constant cycle of the pain, but, don't do it, just, put yourself out to get help. Even if its as simple as having a self-care day, staying in bed and doing feel-good stuff. If you can take a day off every week, just to care for yourself. It's a step in the right direction.

If i were to be talking to Sonic, i would say something based on a true story. Like: "Listen buddy. Many people i have seen like this are just straight up assholes that barely even know how to respect what you have. But then again, despite everything, i gotta tell you the truth and say that people like this are in the most minimal amount. There are always and will forever be alot more actual fans that adore what you do. And that will never change.
