Hi Ben! What an amazing experiences that you are having! Thank you so much for sharing them!! Im going in November to Mauritania and i was wondering if there is another way to go from Chingetti to Terjit and avoid going to Atar again to reach Terjit. It looks like you did it on a gravel road right?

Hello! Thanks for reaching out. Yes there is, Google Maps doesn't show it and Osmand only does it when you put it to Walking mode. However, you can easily drive it, even with a 2wd.
This is the location of the left turn when you come from Chinguetti.
      Coordinates:
      20,5081921, -12,8269813
      Google Maps Coordinates:
      7CG9G55F+76
After that you simply follow the road until you reach the main road again where you turn right. Both turns are in the video for visual reference. ;)

    Some very interesting insights….
As a solo traveller…do you feel safer traveling in Mauritania than Morocco or about the same?

That's a difficult question. I would say that I felt safer in Mauritania. But that might be because by then I had more travel experience. Then there are less people, so it's less likely that you encounter someone "criminal". And I had not so good experiences in Morocco, which makes me think that way as well. Overall it was never unsafe in that sense. Hope that helps somehow. Thanks for watching! 💛
