  • 22 years ago (before I was even born) 1948-built Peppercorn A2 No: 60532 "Blue Peter" was withdrawn from traffic had that was that. Or so we all thought, after a number of years sitting in Barrow Hill Roundhouse, 60532 was purchased by the Royal Scot Locomotive and General Trust direct from the Drury Family in 2014.
60532 then left Barrow Hill Roundhouse destined for the Locomotive Services Limited workshop at Crewe. Over the next 10 years Blue Peter was stripped apart, overhauled and returned to steam in March of 2024, moving under it's own power for the first time in 22 years. 60523 moved to the Severn Valley Railway for testing. Following successful testing and a static appearance at the SVR's Spring Steam Gala, 60532 headed back to Crewe via the Mainline. A series of successful mainline tests were then conducted after which the locomotive headed into the paintshop at Crewe for final paint and lining
On Friday 12th July 2024, 60532 moved from the Locomotive Services depot in Crewe to their depot in Southall, London. Yesternday, Saturday 13th July 2024, the locomotive was rededicated at London Kings Cross Station, following this she headed to Private Train to York. She finally got the strech those weiry legs.
A massive well done to every single person involved in her Overhaul.
With thanks to Nosmo1997 and JRS for their clips too

I remember when I was a kid watching the program Blue Peter on the bbc who helped raise money to help save the locomotive
