I want to thank you Gary, from the bottom of my heart for making this video! Something I could not wrap my head around through the whole year of research lectures, I have learned through your video! I hope to continue to learn from you...
Hi Gary, thank you for a very digestable introduction to coding. I am a very visual person and our examples has helped me to see how it comes together! thanks!
I'm taking an online class with vague instructions so Gary, thank you thank you thank you. This was a great video and still helps in 2021. Students, this is the best video to organize and sort out your qualitative data.
I have to agree with all the comments below! Gary you rock ! It was concise ! Thank you so much for your video ! it helped a lot to understand how you go from coding to themes
I got as far as coding and getting the common experiences by the different people interviewed but had no idea how to write this up. These I put as themes. I understand now seperate sentences with individual quotes from transcript. It'll still be tricky to write up the conclusions but this has been most helpful.
This was very helpful because you did this in a word file. I’m using Maxqda, and I’m getting lost in my codes. I believe it’s useful to imagine how you would do things without a software or computer , and word or sticky notes is probably the closest thing to that
Andthis is still relevant and helpful today - thank you for sharing this. It was genuinely helpful - MSc, qualitative data, slow lap top and a new found dislike of NVIVO software brought me here.
Thank you very much for this video. However, why if you've identified different codes for the different parts of the paper, they are all in same colour?
Can I ask something? Our group is planning to categorize in themes the legends behind the name of the barangays within a town, is thematic analysis applicable?
is there a particular program that researchers use. I have read about quite a few but they all cost money to use and a trial period etc. Is there a program that you would recommend or just use a google doc. I am doing a basic qualitative study for dissertation. personal interviews (15) and 6 interview questions.
Can I apply grounded thoery to analyse a specific character on data created by multiple novels. For example, analysis 'women' in English literature; can that be done by using grounded theory?
While conducting an evaluation of employee performance in a certain organization, the evaluator asked this question- “What influenced your choice of this profession?” and the following responses were captured: Participant 1: I took up social work as a vocation, because I wanted to work with people. I was interested in working with people, face to face! To be there! Where there is a need for people who are ready to talk, to help others and to resolve social problems Participant 2: When I was in my 3rd or 4th year of secondary school, it was a time of mobilization among students and I developed a concern for social problems. From then, I started doing volunteering work and I became interested in the whole ideal of social change. That is what motivated me to choose this profession. Participant 3: It is a profession that allows me to work on myself […] to be a better communicator and also to become the best person that I can be [...] to be a model who can inspire others. Participant 4: Having been through difficult experiences in my life turned me toward this work [...] social work corresponded with what I wanted from my university studies after my wild youth. As a PhD student working on analyzing my qualitative data, this was EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you!

Hi Gary, thank you for a very digestable introduction to coding. I am a very visual person and our examples has helped me to see how it comes together! thanks!
You were born a teacher. I am trying to analyse qual data for my sequential explanatory research design, and this came in handy. Bravo!!
Thank you Gary. This makes coding easier to understand.
Thank you Gary. This was so helpful, I’ve been struggling with coding on my research project but this video made it easier to get the gist of it xxx

Thank you, Sir Gramenz! This video is truly helpful and inspiring. I really appreciate this!

God bless you richly, you made this easy and quick for me to apply this in my project. I have finally completed my thesis and passed!
I am beyond grateful. Thank you, Sir Gary!
Thanks Gary. I couldn't have explained nor demonstrated it better!

This was very useful and easy to follow step by step whilst making notes.
Thank you, Gary! Very helpful!
Thanks so much, Gary. The examples are quite helpful.
thank you Gary! I couldn`t find such info anywhere else!

Thank you - well explained and interesting
Wonderful!!! Thanks, Gary!
Thank you. This is very helpful!
Really helpful!! thank you so much!
Thank you for an excellent lecture.

So helpful! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your help!
Thank you so much Gary this is so helpful
thank you so much. really beneficial
This is exactly what I wanted! thank you soooo much!
Thank you simple and very informative.
Very helpful as a PhD candidate, these basics are everything but the senior guys don't want to go through it all.
that's a great help. thank you so much
As a student obtaining a master degree, this is indeed helpful.
The video was really helpful.
Thank you Garry, this video helped me a lot..
thank you so much! very helpful

U actually makes it seems so fun 🤣 it's like a game haha can't wait to write my final year paper
Hi! Great video because you're explaining it very clearly. Was just wondering- it's the same process for the phenomenological method right? THank you!
very helpful, thank you

Our group is planning to categorize in themes the legends behind the name of the barangays within a town, is thematic analysis applicable?
Using open coding , what brings about the errors ,in the quotes e.g the quote is comes out in a different languages other than english
Thank you so much!!!!
Thank you!!!!
how do you get those side table things on the side of your document. I'm currently doing my coding for my dissertation.

can you also make a video how to apply colaizzi, giorgi and van kaam method of data analysis

I love you Gary I was cooked but you have saved me here
thank you. what is the text book used?
Good presentation. Is it easier using themes if you use a structured interview
thanx so much
AMAZZZINNNGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!
Thank you
How so you create a word document like that? With the left and right notes
I use thematic analysis in analysing self-reflection data. Is it allowed?
Why not? It is reflecting on your reflection. A higher level of reflexifity.
Hi, is all of qualitative analysis using this method? I mean, qualitative study using thematic analysis or IPA went this method as well?
Do you give online private coaching?
❤❤❤
Thank you, Gary pet of Spongebob.
Pls which app are you using to do all this
we need this in life?
very nice sir.... can I ask you a question? sir is it ok if your theme will exceed in five words?
