Ren was born in March, 1990 and I always think he looks like he's in his 20's. He was also spending 20+hrs a day in his bedroom for years because he was so sick. He said music and reading is all that got him through his struggles. It was his focus. He even said in his new song, Illist of Our Time that depression was a blessing in disguise. If he didn't go through it, he would have had a different trajectory in life. I fell down the Ren rabbit hole at the beginning of the year and can't get enough. His mate Sam Tompkins is amazing too. Thank you guys for this reaction. Spread the world of Ren ❤
Heck yea man this guy is a true student. Watch Ren with the big push performing I shot the sheriff/road to Zion/hip hop. The dead prez tribute had me bouncing!
My ex and I used to laugh about the freeze frame images that resulted from her pausing a programme to go do something. She always managed to pause it with the person on screen looking their absolute worst. When you paused it for the rant about Ren being a student of rap. So perfect. Almost like a frozen Wednesday dance 😁
I think it was Mike Goyette who said that he thought he wouldn't get that feeling of a song changing everything again, because he thought it could only happen when you're younger. The last time it happened for him was Smells Like Teen Spirit, so he was blown away when he got that buzz from Hi Ren. One of the best things about Ren is how many folk say what you did: that they had been disillusioned by new music and suddenly Ren pulled them back in. Often people decades older than him and more, which is wonderful and pretty rare I think. You guys got on why, it's because he knows good music from multiple decades and genres and everyone can hear their preferences within his creations.
When he was talking about that I got the chills. It was such a genuine reaction, and there was almost this look of wonder in his eyes that hit me in the chest. I’ve seen a few of the reactors that are also musicians mention that they feel inspired/reinvigorated musically. That they’ve never heard anything like his music, and they are excited to create and experiment with their own.
i love how deep the homage goes… not just the beat and style, but little things. like the line “fresh like grass when the grass is green” is such a great callback to the beastie’s “fresh like a box of krispy kreme” from 3 mcs and 1 dj 💜
Haha Ren has a few live busking videos with Sam Tompkins and Ren is wearing a Miami Dolphins jersey, then I saw him in the cowboys jacket and it reminded me of being in high school in the 90's here in New York when we all were wearing the football and basketball starter jackets and the 8-ball jackets haha But man my milky white ass can't dance for sh*t. Last time I danced in public somebody called an ambulance cuz he thought I was having a seizure haha But seriously Sam Tompkins is somebody you should check out with Ren. There's one video of them busting live and they're doing "Earned it" by The Weekend, "Man's World" and "Falling" by Alicia Keys. It's phenomenonal. Ren's playing guitar and they're both singing their asses off. They both been friends for a very long time. But if you watched any of those videos with them two you'll see why Sam Tompkins is blowing up and has opened up for Justin Bieber a bunch of times. Dude can siiiing
I think ‘Genesis’ will not only show you that he’s a student of hip hop but a rising master of his craft in his own right - he takes it to the next level and makes his mark with that. ‘I Shot the Sheriff’ with his band The Big Push (6.7m views version) will blow your minds too.
Bittersweet Symphony... the original singers from the Verge actually tracked him down, and gave him one of their vintage guitars! They Loved his version of it! It's a Great "Reping for Britain" video!!!
There are so many more gems..pls react to: Hunger... Money Game part 1 & 2... Genesis... Power... And great vocals in: Chalk Outline... How to be Me... I Shot the Sheriff/ Road to Zion/ hip hop... Englishman in New York...
What you said about Ren being a true student of hip-hop is true of all of his approach to music, from what I've seen and heard. I'm an old-school old musician (around since the late 1950's), and I'm seeing him understanding and bringing to life Bob Marley and even Black Sabbath (in two separate medleys), channeling the old styles and putting new spins on them. He references everything from Leonard Cohen to Freddy Mercury to Mary Poppins "Spoonful of Sugar," and even adds classical guitar and medieval raconteur storytelling to the mix (what he calls "bardcore"). He's one to watch for sure! Subbed! 🤠
I love what you said about Ren being a student of hip hop. He also studies classical, jazz, blues, even stuff from medieval times (his Bard stuff). He plays the cello, guitar, bass, (probably piano), writes his own beats (unless it says retake), writes his own lyrics, etc. All of this genius from a hospital room or his bedroom. Prodigy. Thanks for lifting him up for others to appreciate.
Ren is music incarnate, bro just rolled out the womb beat boxing. And we've been so musically malnutritioned for decades that it's like eating prime rib after decades of canned ravioli. The fact that everything I've heard about him as a person, the way he's been making sure reactors can monetize their videos using his songs and how he interacts with them, the way he tries to lift other artists up doing little collabs, the way he picked up Sam Tompkins, his view on the political bs, the guy is just top notch on every level. And still humble AF. I don't even think Ren himself could find the words to describe how incredible he is ❤️🔥
I feel exactly the same! I was really struggling to find any new music I actually liked until I was introduced to Ren by Justin Hawkins Rides Again one evening here on youtube.I love these reactions because I guess when you feel so excited by something it's great to see other people having the same feelings. I think that's why reaction videos are so addictive because it's something about empathy. I've always loved sharing stuff I have discovered like a great film with other people and seeing them enjoy it too. I think this grass roots approach Ren is taking by sharing his music with reaction channels is the best way to actually build a career and I haven't seen one reactor say they like what the music industry is churning out these days. What I'm hoping is that truly talented musicians are going to get to us via this way and won't need to be signed by record labels anymore and have to be restricted in their creativity by a bunch of suits. I listened to radio 1 in the UK all day in the car recently and there was not one song I can remember or felt was interesting or creative so Ren has been like a breath of fresh air. I honestly don't feel that there is another artist around that I want to listen to right now so I've also been going back and listening to older music and feeling like I was getting old but it's not my nature to be nostalgic as I like new things and novelty but I find music so dull these days. I honestly don't get it. There is stuff that's okay but nothing that actually excites or inspires me so to understand that other people were feeling the same is validating. I love that you never know what Rens going to do next because he can do everything and transcend genres. I feel in awe of his talent and I love watching other people discover him and give him compliments. He's really building up a dedicated and loyal fanbase of people that want him to succeed and I feel like we are coming together through the appreciation of an artist. The comment sections of these reaction videos are all positive and full of love which is not something I've seen on youtube before. He's getting other people to open up and talk and through Ren I've met people online that I have shown love to me. He's created a really great community full of kind and enthusiastic people or bought these traits out of people through his art.
Loved Chaos' point about Ren being a student of hip hop...and, that's just the beginning, though it's his deepest influence and the musical and cultural life he's lived (clothes, vocab., and so much more). But as you get into more and more of his catalogue, your minds may be blown as you discover he is a deep student of many genres, from classical to jazz, R&B, soul and reggae...and more. And not just a student, but a sponge...if a sponge could sing, act and play multiple instruments, pulling in this, that and the other from various genres with an unerring feel for what will most precisely, excitingly and honestly serve the music and its message. Can't wait to see this unfold for you and watch those minds get blown, and share your amazement and joy as it happens! Thanks for another great reaction! I've loved all of 'em, though I was kind of disappointed when your reveling in his technical skills led to your seeming to miss not only the plot twist, but the emotional (and social) content of the story and the characters' ends. Don't know if this is practical or if you'd want to do it, given all the other reactions on your list, but I'd love it if you could re-watch the trilogy, this time free to focus more on the story and his message.
I never dance... not with my lady at least. But, I have a confession to make... I danced around the living room at 3am with our cat and wireless headphones... she was like "you usually carry me around to smell new stuff, we bouncin now? I kinda dig it". Oh and when Ren starts with the "I got what you want, I got what you need"... DEFINITE AFROMAN VIBES!
You are the first person I have found that agrees with me on the Afroman vibe! Thank you! I knew I was hearing that! I keep saying it’s a cross between Beastie Boys and Afroman!
@@angelaphillips7970 And you're my first that has agreed or heard it too. I've said it on a few reactors... we must not have crossed paths until now. Also, "Will You Help Me Repair My Door" by Afroman is HILARIOUS!!!
You've got to listen to Genisis and Losing it. you guys would love them both. you guys are very passionate with the music and it can tell how much you enjoy with these reactions. keep up the great videos mates.
Honestly as a 52 year old man I grew up absolutely loving music of all kinds since I very young I mean since I heard walk this way RUN DMC and fight for your right to party mixed with my love of country, rock, metal and just about everything in between I have to agree REN is a true musical phenomenon so great
The blond guy in the purple tracksuit is Viktus, who plays the pig character & is in multiple Ren videos. This track & “Down on the Beat” are my faves from those two.
Loved this reaction. Best one from you guys that I’ve seen. You e got to react to love misic Part 1,2 and 3. You will be walking round you couch for hours…
100% a student of the old arts. Coming from an old Hip Hop head from the 80's Boston. His unfortunate circumstances has created a musical genius for life.
I feel like ren goes into the studio and makes each song like it’s his last, going for broke each time. Each song is different and that’s why he has captured the world by storm. True talent!
Great reaction guys.More Ren please for rap listen to Power,Losing it,Genesis,The hunger and for singing Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla live version and he's done some awesome stuff with his band The Big push I shot the sheriff/Zion/hip hop version and some of there own stuff sweet little lady ,watch out live version everything he does is 🔥

I'm surprised that you guy's haven't reacted to Ren's new release yet, ILLEST OF OUR TIME. It's 🔥boy's and hope to see it on your channel soon. Unless you want to see a different side of Ren like Ren and his band The Big Push "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" ruclips.net/video/uSeCuR51rek/видео.html You ain't lived until you see Ren cover some Bob Marley and Rap some classic Dead Prez "It's Not Bigger Then a Hip Hop" Proving he's a real student of Hip Hop!!!!😁
You guys should check out his four-part song, Love Music. It's literally all about Ren's live for music, and it's such a brilliant mix of styles. You'd love it.
I totally agree Ren is a student of music, everything I've seen and heard of his is absolutely genius. I'm so happy to see how much he impresses all the reactors with his talent. The fact he hasn't received the attention and recognition he deserves for so long is a fine example of how trash the lamestream industry has become. Its about time! Oh, damn. I JUST caught this during yall's reaction and I've heard this song a dozen times. At 4:50 'whickety whickety.....jump in jump out' May be a shout out to Kriss Kross - Jump
Student of music so right!! So many different genres and influences he's taken and done great tracks with. Rock to Reggae to rap with a twist or cool beat. Great reaction guys 👊👊😁
Guys Fucking help me, I’m 65 years old and going nuts on REN. What’s this guy doing, I’ve never been so excited by about new music. This guy is like a minstrel story teller, Genius and making me 20 again.👍
Another great reaction guys ❤️✌️🤘🏴 He covers war pigs live with his band The Big Push 👍 This man can do no wrong🔥🔥🔥. I'm loving being in the Renaverse ✌️❤️🏴.
You know right, that he recorded most of these, of everything, while he was homebound 23 hours a day and trying no to go insane while no Doctors could properly diagnosis him.... He wrote all his beats, all his lyrics, every video is a one take, the man is fucking next level matrix off the hook insane. In spite of the illness that he's been fighting for almost 17 years. He's simply epic.
i m so glad because somebody finally sow that about him . Yes hi is studier of all good music and if we thing a litle bit abaout his condition when hi said that hi was stack in a room for a lot of time maybe we understand what hi did with his mind to remained healthyyou know like that?
6:22 Yes sir 100%. Want a vibe? easy digestable lyrics but still deep meaning? POWER by Ren. Maybe a bit more Bars and intricate rhymescheme with a vibe hook? Genesis by you guessed it: Ren. Or different completely, want a kick in the face, energy and all that from stunning Maids? Band Maid- Warning. Have a fun day all

3:22 I just realized something... Is he making fun of his own song "Hi Ren" here? 😆
“Hi Ren! My name is Ren! Nice to meet you!”
“Oh that’s great man…”
Ren achieved his goal with this track about 20 seconds in when you both just had a massive smile on your face.
This is Ren nodding to one of his music leg-ends
Let's all give props and prayers for Ren while he is in Canada getting treatments.
Whenever Ren calls me to do anything - I will!

Searching for Ren reactions, just found this and can honestly say you guys have become my favourite reactors real quick! 🤣
I just love this track, Ren was studying music at Bath uni in England.

Ren is the 1st artist in years that I eagerly wait for new music and wear the hell out of the playlist. I haven't done that since I was a teen. This is absolutely phenomenal, but wait til y’all hear “Losing It” by him. Buckle up boys!!
So true. I’ll mention an old school hip hop artist and I had one young man say “ I only listen to new stuff “ No idea what they’re missing.
Here for the pure joy on your faces watching this lol 😆❤️👏🏼 .
First time hearing this song and it is AMAZING!!!!!

Great reaction guys! I was having flashbacks of the Beastie Boys! Ren is so unique! Love it!❤

Student of music so right!! So many different genres and influences he's taken and done great tracks with.
Rock to Reggae to rap with a twist or cool beat.
Great reaction guys 👊👊😁
I love how he produces his own beats. Besides the Australian Edm beat he uses to do a rap retake of it and that’s still fireeeee
His boy Vik from the Down on the Beat track in the Purple ...thanks guys appreciate you.❤

The Big Push Bongo Bong is a must, for the love of music.

Guys Fucking help me, I’m 65 years old and going nuts on REN. What’s this guy doing, I’ve never been so excited by about new music. This guy is like a minstrel story teller, Genius and making me 20 again.👍
More Ren, please 🙏
Great reaction guys x
I hadn’t heard this one! I love it! Back to the old school! Nice react 🖤
Another great reaction guys ❤️✌️🤘🏴
He covers war pigs live with his band The Big Push 👍
This man can do no wrong🔥🔥🔥.
New sub here guys just from your Ren reactions 👌
FINALLY! Yes, total homage!
Y'all need to do Illest of Our Time next 😀

6:22 Yes sir 100%. Want a vibe? easy digestable lyrics but still deep meaning? POWER by Ren. Maybe a bit more Bars and intricate rhymescheme with a vibe hook? Genesis by you guessed it: Ren. Or different completely, want a kick in the face, energy and all that from stunning Maids? Band Maid- Warning. Have a fun day all
This track should be all over the radio
Don't forget the "wiggity wiggity wack" Jump by Kris Kross for student of hip hop. I was 11 when that came out.
