Worshippers are also requested not to encourage such developments. The place is best as it should have been. God created it the way it is and it should stay the same.

The elevated geographical region that we call as the Himalayas today including parts of north and north-east India, Nepal, Bhutan is a gigantic fold mountain system formed when the Indian plate collided with the Eurasian plate about 50 million years ago. The elevated geographical region that we call as the Himalayas today including parts of north and north-east India, Nepal, Bhutan is a gigantic fold mountain system formed when the Indian plate collided with the Eurasian plate about 50 million years ago. This collision continues as we speak and gets manifested as earthquakes now and then in the region.
The mountain's geology and mineralogy reveals that the soil, rocks are nothing but submerged oceanic crust and continental shelf that lay between the two plates and got thrust up due to the collision. Therefore fossilised remains of oceanic creatures are often found in the seemingly unlikeliest of places (high up in the mountains). What people worship as Saligrama stones are fossilised remains of ammonites.
BUT... whether you are deeply religious or you have a scientific bent of mind, DON'T harm nature. Whenever you visit such fragile ecosystems, don't carry anything except memories and don't leave behind anything but footprints.

you have to read Indian puranas how in your language so called ammonite fossil is present and found only in Damodar Kunda and Gandaki periphery.
Puranas are far advance than modern science but very rare people understand and interprete the puranas exactly. The best way to reveal it is to practice it as religious rituals in your daily routine.

All I said was whenever we visit ecologically sensitive areas it is better to take nothing else other than memories and leave back nothing other than footprints. This is what advaita actually propagates. See divinity in everything. But that shouldn't stop you from understanding it.
I am a practicing vaidika dharmika smartha brahmin. I don't pluck flowers to offer during pooja because plucking flowers is like separating infants from their parents.
I am also a student of logic and research. You are right - our puranas are profound and are an infinite source of wisdom. I am too small a person to talk about them. I shall forever remain a student of scientific fact and evidence because our Upanishads and Vedas encourage and inspire all to question and analyze.
