- Thanks for watching. I wanted to provide an easy to follow, no clickbait, loc’d version of lightening hair with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. This is in no way a tutorial and you should use seek additional information and evaluate your hair before in any way attempting to replicate this process. I hold no responsibility for adverse effects.

I do this all of the time and it looks so natural ! So much better than box dye!
How does your hair react to it?! Did it make it dryer?
@@ashley1264 answer pls^^
There’s no going around the dryness with color even if it’s not boxed only thing you can do is keep your hair moisturized
Rinse with cool / cold water to keep the colour and prevent more damage
Does work, using it off and on for years. If you have red undertones and/or dark hair you will have an orange brassy color result-in that case you can apply this method every 6 weeks or so to lessen the brassy-ness,if that's what you like. My thumbnail pic hair color was acheived using baking soda+hydrogen peroxide,my hair is natural blonde that faded to a darker blonde/light brown as I grew older.
Last time I tried boxed color dye, I had an allergic reaction and you’ve definitely helped me to lighten. One thing I don’t see mentioned is to use heat (blow dryer). She’s old school but could be right or wrong. Idk I need a licensed professional for that part. 👍🏾👍🏾
The hair color came out really good
Thank You 🥰
I love how your hair color turned out! Doing mine today😊
This is what I needed to see. I want to put a color rinse in my hair without bleaching it❤❤
You talk really nice btw. I love how it turned out because it looks natural. Not sure if I would do this to my hair though cause I'm not that brave but yours turned out really nice so props to you🌟🌟🌟
Thank you so much!!
That is soooooooo pretty 😍 I can't wait to try it!!!
Sitting here waiting to rinse. Thank you for the vid✨

Awww thank you 🥺 I really appreciate this comment.
You said you left it in for 3 hours. Did you have to keep adding the mixture to keep your hair moist?
No I didn’t, I made sure I added a good amount for it to stay moist when I first applied and then I added a shower cap to seal in moisture.
This helped me. Thank you sis
About to do this on my sisterlocks
Tysm best tutorial. I’m trying to pre-lighten my hair then dye it. Do you think I should mix the two or just wait??
I don’t know about that one. I always try to avoid doing multiple things that can put pressure on hair at the same time. I probably would do one or the other. But I’m not a professional so def ask a stylist.
You are so beautiful, I'm glad I found your video
Ima try it but I'm scared, but im.doing it anyway😂. I just bought dye and bleach but I'm scared to use those chemicals. Somebody give me some reassurance. My hair is natural and is her texture.
It looks so pretty and natural. Did you experience any damage or adverse effects with this method? I want to color my hair but I'm so scared about damaging my locs >.< and want a more natural look.
I didn’t experience any adverse effects, however, everyone’s experience is different so you have to make the decision that is best for you.
Nice! I may try this. I'm going on 8mos loc'd. How many locs do you have?
About 80 something lol. I am currently 10 months loc’d so I’m still in that beginning stage too. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏾
About to try this on my loc extensions right now!!
Thanks
thanks!
oh i like that color on you
Doing this again fingers cross it doesn’t burn 🤪
Can you apply adore hair dye after?
The hydrogen peroxide stripes the color from your hair, so you are free to dye your hair other colors afterwards. Hope this comment was helpful 😊
Why are you so friggin cute!? I can't take it!
Thank you 🥺
Did anyone hair shed worse or fall out?
My hair was fine afterwards. I always give disclaimers because everyone’s hair/scalp is different.
hey boo do u think using purple shampoo after will help it lighten more
I think purple shampoo can help if u don't like too much orange girl
I think it’s worth a try but I have never used purple shampoo. I might want to try it myself.
Girl how many baking soda and hydrogen peroxide for medium hair like 30/40 cm length?? 🙏🏻
I eyeballed it but I say it should have like the thickness of coconut milk so add enough hydrogen peroxide to the point where it’s semi-creamy. I kept making the mixture if I ran out. Hope this helps 😊
beautiful ur awesome
You are so Beautiful & I Love Your Gap
Thank You 🙂
I have it in rn
You don’t need baking soda.. peroxide will do the job
I was wondering if peroxide alone would accomplish the color lifting. I will try it next time.
I think the baking soda just makes the solution to be more of a paste than liquidy
After I dye it so I sit outside or stay inside?
It does not matter. I would stay close to a sink for when you’re ready to wash it out.
I did it y2day around 6pm and it's going on 8:30am now... my color is the same. It didn't work for my hair. Bummer. So this may not work if you've previously dyed your hair, in my case, black, but I haven't dyed it again for about 6 months. It's too dark I guess.
Yea I don’t think it works well on dyed hair. The baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are supposed to lighten natural color of hair. On naturally black hair it still takes a couple of application sessions to get a desired color. But it’s good to know it doesn’t work too well on dyed hair. Thanks for the info.
@@TunedIntoUs I ended up leaving it in until about 10 this morning so 14hrs. No damage though and it wasn't all a loss. The bottom of my locks (I was only going to do the bottom third - it's VERY LONG, to my knees basically!) was kinda grungy looking with build up and whatnot and I think leaving the peroxide and baking soda on that long actually cleaned my locs really really well. They are still a little damp so I can't be sure but they wash was FILTHY! lol! I ride a scooter too, no helmet , all the time so my hair gets car exhaust and dust daily. I wash every day tho but the combo did a thorough deep cleaning. I sprayed it with Moringa tea afterwards and they're still soft to the touch, no breakage!
I never considered it functioning as a deep cleansing method for locs. It’s good to hear the process for you wasn’t a complete waste.
U have to sit in the sun for best results
I did a test and it didn’t work. I added heat for 20mins total. I stopped and looked every 10mins so I didn’t go too far. I’m 3.5 yrs locked and did a permanent that didn’t take 1yr a go. Thank you 🙏🏾
The Sun will make it lighter over a couple of day
I Got 33 Dreads So Ik This Gonna Be Raw On Mines I’m Also Freeform Started With Two Strand Twist Never Twist Again
Is the color permanent, how long does it last ?
It’s permanent
Until it grows out again
It is permanent since it is stripping then natural color off your hair almost like a less aggressive bleach.
Bet
Does this work for natural hair that isn’t locked?
Yes, as long as you are using it on hair that is not dyed it should work.
@@TunedIntoUs thank you!
Is this permanent?
Yes, you are stripping color from your hair.
Hey, do you know how to remove it? Or how long it lasts.
pretty sure you cant the only way is to dye your hair or let it grow
Exactly, this permanently lightens your hair so you would have to dye it to get rid of the color.
Qiie3mm asanti
can it come out?
No, it strips the color from your hair, almost like a bleach.
