Just remember that if you live alone, it will often require a higher budget for groceries per person compared to a several person household. Also, if the lady you were referring to had two kids, considering what their ages are they might be needing less food a week than grown ups.
I don't live in the US so I don't know what is a realistic 1 person household budget for groceries over there however.
    Thanks for sharing!

TinxyBee I think you mean it requires less money if you live alone, and she kept the same grocery budget until her kids grew up. Thanks for watching!

@@castironandcrochet No, I meant that the expenses for food for 1 person in a 4 people household will most often be less than the expenses for food for the 1 person in a single household. The family household can often buy more in bulk which is less expensive + making dinners for just a single person will often wind up being more expensive per portion of food than the cost of 1 portion when making dinner for 4 people at the same time. Which has to do with likely more waste, the fact that you often have to buy ingredients for more than just 1 person/1 portion at once which you won't always be able to utilize every ounce of etc.
The overall cost for 4 people is of course higher than that of a single person. But if you divide the needed budget of a household of 4 with 4 and find the cost for 1 person in that household, the cost per person will more often than not be less than the cost for the single person.
Do I explain myself better now?
Of course how much each household budgets for food for 1 person will vary, and some people spend more on food, eats better/fancier than others and so forth. And that is why I mention that I don't know what a realistic budget for food for a single person in the US is.
But if you estimate that the single person household and the 4 people household eats the same meals, the expenses for 1 person will most often be more for the single person household.
A bit of a long winded explanation there, but I thought I might make myself better understood that way than the first time around :)
