  • Getting to a peak performance headset takes a certain kind of focus and approach. You can’t force yourself into the ZONE. You have to keep your focus on what you’re doing, relax and let the performance come to you.
    Winning, getting a certain time, beating a specific opponent or achieving your outcome goals in this competition requires the understanding that the more conscious you are of your goals, the less chance you’ll have of achieving them. And the more your focus stays in the moment on what you’re doing, so that your goals are not on your radar screen, then the greater chance you’ll have of actually achieving them.
    These are Unprecedented and Scary Times. As Sports Performance Consultants, we’re here to help athletes, coaches and parents manage this incredible stress and help them stay calm, motivated and mentally tough!

    I would add just hearing other sports phycologist is just to make peace with the vary worst outcome but don't git stuck in it. Example say u scared of loseing . We'll get over the fear of loseing then lol. Make peace with knowing even if it happens you're gonna move on with life eventually and so will everyone else . Once u realize even the worst ain't that bad u really become fearless and can go at it hard with recklace abandon . Just relax and go .

    Hi Dr. Goldberg, thanks for the great video! What advice would you have for a Quarterback who's competing for the starting job with another QB, and overcoming the pressure of having to come on up with your performance?

    • @TheCompetitivedge
      @TheCompetitivedge  3 года назад +3

      The key here is to keep your focus on what YOU are doing and when you're under competitive pressure, making sure that your focus stays on the action, on "seeing, reading and reacting" and away from your thoughts about your performance, what the coaches may be thinking about you or what the other quarterback is doing.
      You don't out-compete another by focusing on them and what they have done! That will simply make you more anxious, undermine your confidence and distract you from focusing on what is important!
      So when you find yourself thinking about your competition or the coaches, or evaluating what you just did or what you think you need to do, you want to immediately bring your focus back to the action and this play right now!
