Those who never invest in the capital markets may turn out to be the real winners ( according to the iron cage of modernization thesis) in alternative aspects of a life worth living, all things being equal or there about.

Thanks for a great series. Bond ETF's have been as poor as most Index ETF's on average over the past couple of years. You mention bonds being (good) ballast when times are bad, but on the downside they would also be (poor) ballast when times are good? Given ETF's are long term (20 years +), my view is that bonds aren't that good in a long term ETF portfolio. I agree you still need a solid base of cash an other assets (property) outside of your ETF portfolio. Just my 2 cents worth.

Bro spruiking this shit like we aint about to enter a huge recession. Buy a portfolio of ASX shares now and you will be down hugely within a year, doesnt matter what. The only responsible things to tell people to buy right now are shares in gold miners (many of them up 30-60% in the past 6 months as the price of gold explodes to record highs owing to an impending recession)

Even the best investors can never forecast booms and busts, the market could crash tomorrow or power on for a few more years. The beauty of long term investing is that recessions look like small corrections down the track. I'm still buying the dips but would love nothing more than a 20-30% crash.

There won't be any recession, according to mainstream media: Ukraine is beating Russia, and advancing on Moscow and the Volga river. Zelensky will be in Vladivostok soon. China is about to tip into an economic depression. The United States has an extremely strong and capable leader. European NATO is extremely united and a peace-loving organisation that encourages global unity. 🤡🤡🤡💩😓💩💩
