What other snare heads would you recommend for brushes?

Thanks for the question! I like the Evans UV1 heads as the coating last a long time. I also used to use the Aquarian Texture Coated which is also great for brushes.

@@LuvskiDrums actually, since this series is more onto jazz... how would you play brushes on a 6/8 groove, i.e. All Blues

You've got yourself a new subscriber! Would you care to comment on using smaller snare drums, for example 13, 12 or even 10 inch? I've seen some guys playing with brushes on 10 inch snares with great sound and without crashing their brushes. I guess that some of the more complicated brush patterns could be troublesome. My idea is to set up a minimalist kit with smaller drum sizes so I'm wondering how much sense would it make to use brushes on a 10 inch snare drum, at least with your "lateral" method. By the way, what cymbals do you use, are those Bosphorus?

Thanks so much for subscribing! Theoretically yes, you could implement my method on a 10 inch snare. But you have to be very precise and efficient in your movement as there's such little room for error. Personally, I wouldn't go any smaller than a 12 inch though. Just a little more versatile than a 10. Yes, these are Bosphorus cymbals that I picked up from their factory in Istanbul a few years ago.
