I have a 48 " length driver I use to calibrate my timing. I use it as a training aid. It forces me to slow down and really feel what I am doing. After a few shots, I can get it going the right height, direction and distance. All of your body parts must function together and in order. I switch then to my 3W on a tee. It seems effortless to hit them straight and I get 225 to 235 IF I remain smooth and like you said not trying to act all overly strong and go as fast as I can. The only thought is smooth and easy. At my advanced age, I will live with that distance I am getting. You are SO RIGHT about penalty drives from the tee. Water, sand, out of bounds, woods, all are terrible. I do not carry a driver. It does not reward me in any way. I do hit 5W or 7W a LOT from the tee and that 3W when I can. I have a 16 handicap. Being a short hitter, I do practice mostly on the shorter clubs and putting. Those are my money shots. All of my irons I know my distances with a half shot. That alone is like having twice the number of irons. I spent 28yrs in the Army, infantry. I have trained a lot of soldiers. We have a saying, smooth is fast. We worked on drills with weapons to put them in action smoothly, zero mistakes. Once smooth is achieved, tiny increases in speed will naturally come. Smooth also allows the potential for accuracy (given all the fundamentals of shooting are correct, much like a golf swing). I love your videos. You motivate me to do better with my golf. My war against poor golf can only be won by winning the mental side of said war. (course management, high percentage shots, eliminating lost balls, etc.). THANKS!
I’ve recently refined my swing and am hitting more accurately off the tee. Incidentally, I also hit my longest in play drive ever (measured on the course, not counting driving range) at 318 yards. Being able to strike the ball more accurately will naturally increase distance for the reasons you said.
Finally!!! Someone listed the downsides of gaining distance 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I've always said the further you hit it the more chance you have to be 3 off the tee. 2 lost balls off the tee negates all that extra distance.

I've found that cycling between rounds of golf (especially if you are clipped in to your pedals because you can engage the hamstrings on the up-stroke) is a primo way to stretch out the hamstrings and the quads and the calves. Also flushes out the fatigue build-up in the leg muscles. Just my anecdotal experience FWIW.

I sprained a muscle in my back, not allowing me to swing at even 80%. Shot my lowest round ever 93, only lost one ball off the T, and hit my driver the most consistent and longest distances I ever have lol.
Yea coach matt!!!! Had best stretch of golf of my 38 years of playing golf. From hole 13-18. Birdie , eagle, par par par par. In play off tee. Stay away from trouble. Toe down chipping. Boo fricken Ya!
When I played regularly I used to avg about 210m with driver, I never overswing. I remember my very rare 280+m drives for two things. They were smooth as cheesy easy peasy swings. Flush out of the middle and exquisitely compressed. A completely different feeling and never been able to recapture it, as I don't know what I did different. The second thing was, I didn't get the birdies

Went from shooting in the hundreds to shooting an 83 this year just by working on my short game, and swinging the club at 60-70% power.

This advice is spot on. I drive around 240 on average. I played with a guy today who hit a couple drives over 300. Was consistently driving over 290. He had 247 on his second shot on a par 5, hit 3 wood to 35 ft. He 3 putted for par(I also made par on that hole.) In the end, I shot 82, he shot 87. Hitting longer is great. I would love to hit it longer. But I would never trade accuracy for distance.
Happens similar where I outdrive someone by 50 yards, I hit it on the green in 2 on the par 5 and they wedge it for their 3rd shot and also birdie. It's all about natural distance and supremo accuracy like a BAUS

Now i don't lose my bad balls ahahah
Yep, I have reeeaaaaallllll slow swing speed (top out at 73mph with an 18 degree hybrid), I hope to bring that up to the hi 70s but my only real chance of gaining significant distance is to bump up my smash factor. Which means just somehow getting super-efficient at squaring the clubface at impact and finding the club-ball combo that will maximize ball speed with an acceptable amount of spin for the short game. Easy peasy, yeah? 😅
I got a guy in my comments saying he's 65 years old and drives it 330 yards. Another was 73 years old and drives it 290 yards. I think these guys wasted their senior years. Could have made millions on the Champions Tour. Obviously distance is everything, noo need to be able to make a score, just knock the cover off it.
It's baffling to me that people brag about wedge distance. I don't hit a "full swing" wedge shot with any wedge. It's always a Pelz type finesse swing.
I just found the best driver person in my area and I have hired him to drive for me. Now I am further down the fairway and in play. I am currently searching for the best putter in my area who will putt for me. My scores are dropping.
This is exactly what I needed to see after having a driver fitting yesterday, and being told to swing faster then I normally would and to change my swing to suit the club, not for the club to suit me 🤣

Could have made millions on the Champions Tour. Obviously distance is everything, noo need to be able to make a score, just knock the cover off it.
3 wood for me off the tee is money even on par 5s, based on those stats I can reach the 0 strokes gained needed.
Never a socks ad has been more convincing.... I mean, trackman stats dude
Wise words.
Ahí es justo donde yo vivo... en “Oscar Bravo”... 😂😂😂
blasted those creators with those scores lol
How many yards will the hat add to my drive? Good video
I just don't understand this black socks trend.
It's baffling to me that people brag about wedge distance. I don't hit a "full swing" wedge shot with any wedge. It's always a Pelz type finesse swing.
Lou Stagnant 😂. Shots fired.
Gold gold gold
I’m going to always remember “not dua lipa not dua lipa, just single ladies” 😅😅😅
Control = accurate strikes = distance
Is it possible to do a video for women golfers
Love to increase my distance especially when the ground is wet with no rolling!!!
Every video is for women golfers. I dont just roll out of bed looking this fly
His channel promotes good course management. It literally caters to a woman’s game. But men need it too!
I just found the best driver person in my area and I have hired him to drive for me. Now I am further down the fairway and in play. I am currently searching for the best putter in my area who will putt for me. My scores are dropping.
Money!
Don't forget to plant birdies out there!
Always be planting
I found a Great Blue Heron feather my last round, hopefully I get a big birdie today.
I saw a Bird's feather at Our very own KPGA in KL, was it planted by you? 🤗
Trackman ➡️ Trackperson
😂😂😂
Why has it been changed to Track person?! lol
This is exactly what I needed to see after having a driver fitting yesterday, and being told to swing faster then I normally would and to change my swing to suit the club, not for the club to suit me 🤣
WHAT!!!!
Oh man ... I hope you're kidding.
“Swing hard in case you hit it”
Rory says he hits his driver with +4-5 AOA

You have to make a video for the above 55 years old now, since we are clearly the majority of your wievers!
VKTRY insoles got it. Do I still need to watch the videos with my Red Tiger rangefinder?
Not only penalty shots but mishits cost you dearly.
LOL. Beyonce Yes, Dual Lipa No. That is easy to remember
I ain’t Rory Mcilroy and neither are you 😂😂😂😂😂
Playahhhh!
Buy the insoles. "Trust the Science."
Track person 😂😂😂
Let the big dog eat.
😂
Lou Stagnant 😆
The ending reminded me of George Bush hahah
Are you south african?
i like his vidoes but I wish he'd leave out the socks nonsense!
Wait until you hear him about the tiger range finder. Not the elephant range finder, not the hippo range finder, but the tiger range finder. 😂🥳

I literally gained almost 50 yards when I stopped trying to kill the ball. Nice smooth swings is all I do now.
