Yeah, I learned that back in the 60s in Boy Scouts. I carried cotton balls in a 35mm film canister. The Vaseline helps the fire last longer. I enjoy your videos on the stove. Thanks for stopping by.
Mark - I'd love to get together, but will need to get past the eclipse first. We're very busy setting up for emergency communications at the county EOC. Once thru with the event, I'll have free time.@@MarkKratzMC
Hey Eddie, I have a marinade for you. Identical to the Japanese barbecue sauce for a fraction of the price. I learned it from a Filipino ships cook. It’s equal parts of soy sauce and Italian salad dressing. For diabetics add 1/2 part honey. The normal recipe calls for 1/2 part sugar or one can of 7-Up. It’s great on chicken or beef, marinate, overnight and grill out side or on your barbecue. It would make a great video.
Note: even if you use sugar, most of it’s going to remain in the marinade or get cooked off the surface during cooking. And you could always avoid eating the skin. But it should be low on the glycemic index.
My type of meal. Mushrooms and Asparagus. Frog legs are also good. I have never bbqed them before. Good to see you back Mark. I use your ferro rod still love it.
Thanks Jeff! If you want to simulate the barbecue sauce, combine equal parts of soy sauce and bottled Italian salad dressing. Do one half part sugar or honey. You can substitute for sugar for one can of 7-Up. I learned this from a Filipino cook who was in the merchant marine. Try it on chicken marinate overnight. Cook it on the outdoor grill. It would make a great video.
Mark, I'm so happy to see you back! I'd definitely give these a try. The boys would love them. Now Im curious: Did you harvest the frogs yourself, or can you buy them at a store? Jarlic! The best invention.
I bought them in the store. I showed the package at the beginning. Try this homemade Marinade it’s identical to the Japanese barbecue sauce. Equal parts soy sauce, and bottled Italian salad dressing. 1/2 part sugar. Try it on chicken first. Marinate overnight and bake or cook on an outdoor grill. That might make a good video for you.
Great to hear from you too, David. I feel rejuvenated after my hiatus. Sometimes frog legs can leave a pond water taste in your mouth, but that depends where you get them. I find that marinating them draws out any off taste. But even so they are pretty tasty.
Hey Del! It’s great to hear from you. I’m sure you could come up with some type of gasoline powered frog gigging device. I had a nice little break from RUclips. I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to. Take care.
#1👍🏻 Croaking; I mean WATCHING🐸 Holy cow! 😮 I have nt had frog legs since my dad, Uncle and us kids, were on our way to Disneyland! Stopped along the road somewhere in Death Valley, and cooked up some frog legs on the old Hibatchi grill! 🔥 Tasted like chicken. Mighty good with mustard! Nice to see Kermie the frog has joined you. 🤣 Thanks for sharing, "007"😎 Nice seeing you again💋 P.S. Nice chopping action! 🍀BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH🍀
Some of the smaller grocery stores around here carry them but you can usually find them in an Asian grocery market. You should try a marinade that taste very similar. I learned it from a Filipino ships cook. It’s equal parts of soy sauce and bottled Italian salad dressing. With an equal part of 7-Up. Or 1/2 part sugar. Try it on chicken and Grill it outside. It’s also great on beef and pork ribs.
Hey, Mark! So good to see you back & cooking up some tasty food. I'm with you about frog legs being different than chicken. Different texture and you can taste the water. I like the idea of the Japanese BBQ marinade and grilling up everything. I hope that you are doing well and that we'll be able to see more of you. Later, brother!
Thanks Jonny. The marinade will remove any pond flavoring. To simulate a Marinade, and save money try this: 1 cup soy sauce, 1 cup, bottled Italian salad dressing and 1/2 cup sugar. Try it on chicken first marinate overnight and cook it on your grill. It would make a good video. It’s always good to hear from you.
They are really good, especially when you marinate them. Sometimes frog legs will taste like the pond they were in. The marinade really draws any off taste out. Thanks for stopping by.
Bet those were hoping good! I've never had frog legs before. The idea of those poor frogs having to around in little wheelchairs makes me sad. 😂😂😉 Thanks for the video brother
Lol. Hey, here’s a marinade for you to try. It would make a good video. It taste similar to the Japanese barbecue sauce but it’s cheaper. Equal parts of soy sauce, bottled, Italian salad dressing. The cheaper the better. And 1/2 part of sugar. I learned this from a Filipino ships cook. But he would use one can of 7-Up instead of sugar. It’s great on any meat. Preferably grilled but you can bake the chicken at 350° for an hour or until done.
Frog legs - one of the best meals a man can have. There a few restaurants that serve frog legs here in Tennessee. I will be in Missouri April 8th and visit a resaurant just for its frog legs. Thanks for sharing Mark!
It is useful information. I didn't know that. It seems like the main difference is the white ones are continuously covered so that they maintain that color. @@MarkKratzMC
Hey Mark!! Been a minute. Hope all is well your way. Frog legs are delicious. Been a minute since I went out and gigged for some frogs. That marinade looked good. I enjoy that Japanese BBQ sauce. Thanks for sharing dude.
Good to hear from you Mike. I had a nice hiatus from RUclips and slowly getting back in. Anyway, I need to see what you’ve been up to. Thanks for stopping by.
🇺🇸🙋♀️🐴🍃 Looks good!

They are tasty. Thanks for stopping by Dan.
I was so "hoppy" to see your frog legs post! Love your wooden serving plate.
Thanks Mike. Now it’s about a good time to come out for a barbecue. So get a hold of me and we can get together.

I love frog legs. Jami would not be caught dead eating them. You are a real survivalist and a great cook. Love ya brother.

Very cool. I had some frog legs recently. Had them at Lebleu's at exit 20 off I-10 on my trip to see Eddie a couple of weeks ago.

Hey Dave. You should do a video short of your meal. Thanks for stopping by.
We grow asparagus over at Mom and Pops house. They're already putting out. You're making me hungry Mark.
Asparagus is a plant that keeps on giving. White asparagus doesn’t make your pee smell as bad. I know that’s probably useful information.
