Love the idea of making this as modular as possible, and the wheels thing is really nice too. Sadly I cant have any bigger equipment where I currently live, so im confined to have a couple of storage shelves with for the most part hand or hand held tools. There is a garage on the horizon though, cant wait to get a proper drill press, band saw, hydraulic press and (if I win the lottery) a lathe.
The only thing I do have that is not really portable these days is a 3D printer station and a small CNC router setup that is mostly a hobby project to get running properly. Those are stacked on top of eachother in a cabinet I built to save some space. The biggest challenge I find to getting stuff done effectively is something you barely touched but I dont think you talked too much about it. I find myself constantly going back and forth, picking up tools or putting them back. Tool cart is sadly not an option as theres a stair between where I store tools and work on things, so the only decent option ive found was to buy a couple of cheap carpentry bag-thingies. The one that looks like a tool box with a handle but made from fabric, no idea what its called in English. Theres still alot of running to get a socket I missed and such but at least I can pack most things with me in one go and bring it all back at once. If you have any good suggestions i'd love to hear it!
    Oh, and hello from Norway!

Well, first and foremost you won't know yourself if you get a garage together and install a drill press, hydraulic press, band saw and lathe. Why not buy a small video camera and document the journey? In fairness a video on workshop organisation is really only useful if you have something that qualifies as a workshop. I did start out with a cupboard in a utility room so I know the feeling of not having a proper tool area. If it's any consolation even with a workshop I still end up sometimes making multiple trips to get the right socket/spanner or other tool. I have a selection of bags and roll up affairs to transport tools to wherever the job is depending on the size of the machine or where it has broken down so it's not always possible to bring the machine to the tools. I think there is probably enough material to make a video on tool transport so keep an eye out in the future for that.
I like the sound of the 3D router and printer, never had the time to get into that (and my wife would kill me if they arrived on the scene).
