I wish this channel existed back in 2004 when I married my Turkish wife. It's been almost 20 years and I still don't understand her when she's screaming at me (lol)...I think I might surprise her one day by subscribing to your channel and practicing! :)
You're awesome. I'm living in Turkey trying to learn the language from native speakers and they don't know why they say things the way they do. Not helpful 😂. This has really helped a lot. Thank you so much!!
Explaining grammar rules requires very good knowledge and you can't expect everyone to know each grammatical rule, people learn but forgets over time and explaining these rules in English also need an advanced level of English, which you can find someone having both at the same time rarely in Turkey.
Since native speakers of a language tend to absorb it rather than learn, that happens. But once you learn something there are very few exceptions in grammar so it'll be easy to remember :)

Öğretmenlik yaptığım sene aklıma geldi, bu kadar gülümseyebilmek başlı başına büyük efor gerçekten. Çalıştığım müfredatta öğretemediğim konu yoktu, öğrencilerim derse de bağlanıyorlardı ama bütün şamatalarımıza rağmen öğrencilerimin benden korkmasına engel olamadım. Bilgi öyle ya da böyle bulunur ama böyle pozitif mizaç zor bulunur, tebrikler.
You are very good at this work. My wife is Turkish and I am making what feels like my 10th attempt to learn the language and you have been so helpful. Regards from Çeşme.
I have struggled to learn Turkish for years but found it impossible. However, I thought this lesson was accessible and comprehensible: well done! The ‘hard’ consonants are not easy to recall but that might improve with practice. Speaking as a teacher, I think this is an excellent lesson.
Now I understand “Bir fırt çek, dudakta, sönecek yangın” teh grammatical sense.. hehe! Thanks Turkishle and Gülşen! Because have picked up the words from her songs! It’s very interesting to learn the grammar behind all of this!
Çok güzel oldu video 😁 Türkçe öğrenmek isteyen arkadaşlara hep ilk bunu öğretirim. Üstelik çok farklı kullanışları olduğundan, Türkçeyi daha doğal ve daha sık pratik yapabiliyorlar. 👌 Şimdi herhalde unuttukları dersi onlara bu videoyu yollayıp sayenizde yeniden canlandıracağım. 😬🧟♂️
You are the BEST. You help me alot in Turkish i don’t usually comment on videos but your lessons are better and faster then turkish lesson in my college 😂 i get tired because of the slow teaching speed
Thanks for a wonderful clear lesson. All the sharp consonant are voiceless except Ç. In English something similar happens with past -ed eg washed, watched, laughed, mapped asked etc….the ending - ed is pronounced as T.
Another easy way to remember the voiceless (sharp) consonants: they're the ones where you don't feel a vibration when you touch your throat while pronouncing them.

I know this is a video for vowel harmony practice but I'd like to point out something for people who'd like to further their writing in Turkish. At 10:07 we see some examples with 'proper names'. In speaking we usally follow the rule in the video by following the vowel harmony, such as "Gaziantep'te"; however, in writing the suffixes that come after an apostrophe are always written as -de or -da because the word and the suffix are seperated by the apostrophe. So, in writing, it is always written as "Gaziantep'de" rather than "Gaziantep'te" despite the harmony rule.
Nice lesson! 2 questions: - Kimde should be .. Whose isn't it? - does the locative case work with time too ? I mean for saying "it is 7.00 o clock, in January, 3 years ago.. "
We can't simply translate this tenses to English. "Gittim" "I went" if you use this tense that means you witnessed that action. You can use "Verb-mişim" when you didn't aware of what you did. "6 yerine 5 kalem almışım." "(I notice that) I bought 5 pencil instead of 6." You can also use when you performed an act that pleased you or you did properly. "Bir makarna yapmışım ki tatman lazım." "I made a (well-cooked) pasta that you should taste." That usage sometimes can imply an exageration. "Bir keresinde tek oturuşta 6 elma yemiştim" "I once ate 6 apples in one sitting." "İstanbul'a gitmiştim." "I have been to Istanbul." If you want to say "She have gone to school" then you should just say "Okula gitti" because there is no perfect tense in Turkish. In order to point out the sense of perfect tense we need other words, for instance we say "Demin okula gitti." "demin" means "just before". Other usages "Ocağı söndürmedin mi?" "Haven't you turned off the oven?" "Söndürmüştüm." "(I am not certainly sure but I think) I have." "Pencereyi örtmüştüm ama odaya döndüğümde açıktı." "I had closed the window but when I returned to room it was open." These are the examples that come to my mind.
@@defnesaglam2368 No, "gitmiştim" is "I had gone". It's past of the past. For example "Beni aradığında çoktan sahile gitmiştim". (When you called me I had already gone to the beach). Another one: "Sana bunu yapma demiştim, neden yaptın?" (I had told you not to do this, why did you do?). And sometimes we use it for distant past: 15 yıl önce ameliyat olmuştum. (I had surgery 15 years ago ) But for this one you don't necessarily use -miştim, you can also use -tim. So it is also correct to say 15 yıl önce ameliyat oldum. It has completely the same meaning. But -miştim gives more of a "distant past" vibe.
Same rule applies. (A-I-O-U, LAR) & (E-İ-Ö-Ü, LER) You need to look at the last vowel. E.g. Kalem: last vowel is 'E' so it's kalemler. Kitap: last vowel is 'A' so kitaplar. Be smart, Turkish is a logical language.

@@MuhammedAYDIN actually I find it complicated because you need to observe all the time the changes of last letters because of those vowels and consonants..I think speaking Turkish is a whole lots of process unlike other languages.
It's interesting that in Dutch grammar we have a mnemonic very similar to Fıstıkçı Şahap: "'t fokschaap" (the breeding sheep) or, alternatively, " 't kofschip" (some sort of ship). Apart from the absence of ç and ş (whose sounds only play a very minor role in Dutch except in loanwords), and keeping in mind that Turkish ´h´ is closer to Dutch ´ch´, the list is identical.

God!! learning Turkish would be so easy for me. Grammar is easy and simple. I am very familiar with prononciation. And many words has Arabic origin or we use in Syrian Dialect anyway. I always loved this language ❤️
its just because turkish has easy grammar rules.. turkish is an altaic language and arabic is an semitic language, we have common words since ottomans used arabic letters, but in daily life today we don't really use this arabic words and grammarly they are soooo different. as a turkish, arabic is hard for me as hell. i suggest you to learn original turkish words, you don't need to learn arabic again right? trust me it sounds softer and more beautiful than arabic.
Believe me, Turkish and Arabic are not similar. Turkish and Arabic come from different language families and it is really difficult for an Arab to learn Turkish.

That was a great lesson. Very clear. Thank you so much!
Now I understand “Bir fırt çek, dudakta, sönecek yangın” teh grammatical sense.. hehe! Thanks Turkishle and Gülşen! Because have picked up the words from her songs! It’s very interesting to learn the grammar behind all of this!
Konuşman insanı kendine çekiyor. Çok güzel ve akıcı konuşuyorsun güzel de anlatıyorsun. İnsanın videoyu sonuna kadar izleyesi geliyor.💛
I swear this channel is the most helpful channel ever ❤
Thanks. One of the more clearer language videos I have seen (in any language).
I noticed too, very clear and easy to remember
Çok güzel oldu video 😁 Türkçe öğrenmek isteyen arkadaşlara hep ilk bunu öğretirim. Üstelik çok farklı kullanışları olduğundan, Türkçeyi daha doğal ve daha sık pratik yapabiliyorlar. 👌 Şimdi herhalde unuttukları dersi onlara bu videoyu yollayıp sayenizde yeniden canlandıracağım. 😬🧟♂️
Kutluyorum sizi yapmış olduğunuz çalışmalar aynı zamanda ülkemizin yumuşak gücünü ifade ediyor diğer ülke ve toplumlara karşı.

Appreciate it! This video helped me alot in learning turkish ... Please continue these lessons . Lots of love ✨
Thanks for a wonderful clear lesson. All the sharp consonant are voiceless except Ç. In English something similar happens with past -ed eg washed, watched, laughed, mapped asked etc….the ending - ed is pronounced as T.
Really good video, helping me recover my basic turkish! You have a really contagious smile as well, couldn't stop smiling throughout this video.

Another easy way to remember the voiceless (sharp) consonants: they're the ones where you don't feel a vibration when you touch your throat while pronouncing them.

You explain really well. I love your videos. Would you please do one on tenses? Thank you.
Thank you very well explained. I think from now on I will not make any mistakes on this topic again. I just need to remember those sharp consonants
fıstıkçı şahap baby. once you get used to it you dont need to think about it coz its all about logic.
Yabancı arkadaşlarımıza Türkçe öğrenme işinde bol şans
You explaination is as beautiful as you are.... 👍only got confused with the last 2 sentences....
OMG I needed this topic badly. Thanks for posting.
Turkish is an intelligent brain sport
çok teşekkür ederim! çok iyi bir öğretmensin, ve videoların gerçekten harika bu yüzden çok şey öğreniyorum! ❤︎
This blows my mind. Adjectives with pronoun endings? No prepositional phrases? At least I've learned yok, but you're still a good teacher. I will be watching this several times.
Thankyou so much first time I understand Turkish so well. çok çok teşekkür ederim❤
Wonderfully explained. TEŞEKUR EDERIM😊
Tarafsız bir gözle Ana dilim Türkçe ve Dünyanın en zor dillerinden bir tanesi.Ama bir çok Avrupa dilinden daha kurallı...
Matematik gibi bir dil deniyor her yerde. Net kurallara sahip ve çok çok az istisnası var. Telaffuz dışında eğlencelidir aslında dışarıdan öğrenmesi :D
I'm really happy that I found out about the lessons if Turkishle now because of them I can learn Turkish fast thank you so much funda
gülmek çok yakışıyor
aynen
You really explained it so well!! 😘🙏🏽
Nice lesson!
2 questions:
- Kimde should be .. Whose isn't it?
- does the locative case work with time too ? I mean for saying "it is 7.00 o clock, in January, 3 years ago.. "
Anlatıcı arkadaş bana ingilizce öğretmenimi hatırlattı. O'da sizin gibi hep gülerdi. Videolar harika tam gaz devam. ^^
After watching this I found myself talking fluent turkish
Then I relized I was in turkey
Then I remembered I was Türk 😭😭
You are the best one in your channel tesekkür ederim
Sizi dinlemek çok keyif verici..
Geçmiş zamanın hakkında konuşabilir misiniz? Mesela, gittim-gitmişim-gitmiştim arasındaki fark nedir? Bu konu hep kafam karıştırıyor ... 🙏😊
Gittim=simple past tense
Gitmişim= past tense +rumor (learned past tense )
Gitmiştim=past tense +rumor +know past tense
We can't simply translate this tenses to English.
"Gittim" "I went" if you use this tense that means you witnessed that action.
You can use "Verb-mişim" when you didn't aware of what you did.
"6 yerine 5 kalem almışım." "(I notice that) I bought 5 pencil instead of 6."
You can also use when you performed an act that pleased you or you did properly.
"Bir makarna yapmışım ki tatman lazım." "I made a (well-cooked) pasta that you should taste."
That usage sometimes can imply an exageration.
"Bir keresinde tek oturuşta 6 elma yemiştim" "I once ate 6 apples in one sitting."
"İstanbul'a gitmiştim." "I have been to Istanbul."
If you want to say "She have gone to school" then you should just say "Okula gitti" because there is no perfect tense in Turkish. In order to point out the sense of perfect tense we need other words, for instance we say "Demin okula gitti." "demin" means "just before".
Other usages
"Ocağı söndürmedin mi?" "Haven't you turned off the oven?"
"Söndürmüştüm." "(I am not certainly sure but I think) I have."
"Pencereyi örtmüştüm ama odaya döndüğümde açıktı." "I had closed the window but when I returned to room it was open."
These are the examples that come to my mind.
But -miştim gives more of a "distant past" vibe.
very clear, congratulations!
Funda hanım ne güzel anlatıyorsun :)

ne kadar guzel bir kiz Turkcemi unutasim geldi :b
I love this
Really well explained...what about plural suffixes : Lar / Ler? Thank you
Same rule applies. (A-I-O-U, LAR) & (E-İ-Ö-Ü, LER) You need to look at the last vowel. E.g. Kalem: last vowel is 'E' so it's kalemler. Kitap: last vowel is 'A' so kitaplar. Be smart, Turkish is a logical language.
@@MuhammedAYDIN ahh ok ok I got it...thr same
Thank you soo much❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗
Oh yes it's a really logic language
@@MuhammedAYDIN mantıklı değil de tutarlı deniyor sanırım 😂
@@Sakura-zr8ib mantık diyebilirsin. Birçok dilde mantık(akıl yürütme) aranmıyor ezber ve sözlüğe bakmak gerekiyor, turkcede ise bir kurala tabi kuraldan sonuca ulaşabiliyorsun.
SoFT KeTCHuP as well.
Ana dilim olmasına rağmen Fundayı izlemek büyük bir ayrıcalık

This was a really good lesson! Thank you for this content it’s really well made 😊
You're very welcome! 🤗
I love turkey
God!! learning Turkish would be so easy for me.
