    The Trials Of Life
    Sir David Attenborough continues his study of animal behaviour in the third instalment of his award-winning Life series. Beginning with the ways in which animals arrive in the world and ending with the extraordinary techniques they employ to reproduce, the Trials of Life is one of the most comprehensive wildlife documentaries ever made. Taking some three and a half years to make, Attenborough travelled almost a quarter of a million miles to complete this fascinating and insightful documentary.

      I think there is a reason why people do certain things in majority- very often, the thing most people do, is benefitial to them. If something is too risky or detrimental, very few people will try to do it.
      However, that's different from doing things just for approval instead of safety. I feel like the problem nowadays with media is that people will do anything to feel included, instead of doing what actually is the better option for them.

    • @Salted_Fysh
      @Salted_Fysh 2 года назад +7

      @@masteroogway1586 It's an unconfirmed myth that crustaceans are not capable of feeling pain. Strangely enough, it is perpetrated mostly by people in the business of cooking lobsters alive (or eating them).
      We have no scientific basis to conclude that Arthropods or any other animal for that matter does not feel pain because we have no way of measuring suffering which is usually included in the definition. A common argument used to be that if the animal shows behavior similar to a human or has a similar neurological make-up as a human, it likely feels pain. But this approach is flawed in several ways and very anthropocentric since we represent but one line of evolution. For example, there are animals that can see without having human eyes - or any at all.
      The truth of the matter is, we simply do not know. We don't even truly, unambiguously know if other people feel pain. Outside our own, personal and individual experience, pain is an assumption.
      There are however several clues that point towards animals having a pain response. Especially in crustaceans there is enough evidence to at least consider the strong possiblity that they do in fact experience pain. And unless we are 100% sure, I believe subjecting them to especially painful and torturous death during prep is just inhumane and barbaric.
      But that's the human way I guess. I mean we are pretty certain ducks experience pain, yet foie gras still exists.
      PS:. Fish can't choose the way they eat their meals. We can. That's the crucial difference.
