The Master of the Tiller is at again! Love it sir! Viewed, Liked, Subscribed, Shared, Commented! I am a fan! Anytime you are tilling or grading I'm watching!
Guys it's always a good idea to have underground utilities located before digging near a roadway. Hit a fiber optic line and you are going to learn an expensive lesson! Tim was not digging very deep and I'm sure he walked the area down before starting to identify hazards. Good video
It's very capable - but watching your channel gives me ideas on how to solve issues - I am a relatively new operator and have not had much experience tackling projects - (I'm an IT guy) - I primarily mow with my tractor - but I also use it to plow snow - skid logs for firewood - BTW - how many ears of corn are on a corn stalk? LOL
I'm an IT guy too :-) Check out our website. tractortimewithtim.com Typically, they breed field corn nowadays to put all of its energy into a single ear. There are several reasons for this. ...but I'm not agronomist, so don't put too much stock in my statements. 1) The corn will stand up better if only one ear. Holding up two ears takes a much stronger stalk. 2) Breeding for stalk strength is often contrary to breeding for high yield. ...so breeders want the 'weakest stalk' which will stand up long enough for harvest. 3) If the stalk is optimized for one ear, it will put on that one ear even in stressful (drought) conditions. ...it needs to be persistently determined to put on that single ear. 4) The farmer can optimize the number of plants per acre depending on the quality of the soil. So, rather than more ears per stalk, the farmer plants the corn thicker. I hope this is helpful.
Awesome. The Roto-Tilller and loader w/Heavy Hitch toothbar can move some dirt ! Saved alot of $ not having to pay for a bulldozer, and only disturbed the grass where you were grading. Excellent. Thanks TTWT
Thanks for saying that. We don't see the advantage of the music. If we had more time, we might use a little bit once in awhile, but for the most part, we think the videos are fine without it.
Just found your channel recently and subscribed. I purchased a Kioti cs2210 with a loader and tiller. Been trying to figure out how to fix my front ditch problem and this video just showed me! Thank you sir!
My father had a ditch Witch for years did trenching for water lines and electrical companies. One of the hardest things to get people to go along with, is leaving some dirt piled up on top of the trenches after you backfill, because it will always settle after a rain.
A good example is in a cemetery. After the grave is filled in the workers mound it. Come back in a few years and it will be almost flat. I wish the people who worked in my yard had remembered that because now it has some places where it needs to be leveled.
You've convinced me the 1025r is a workhorse...did you have a 2025r prior to it.i know you started with a 1025r. You and the wife are class act.great job answering your viewers questions !!!!
Nice job Tim I just purchased a ct1025. Really enjoying this size tractor. I own a excavation company so I have larger pieces of equipment but this machine will get a lot done without damaging the customers property!
It's funny, I ran across this video, and when Tim said let's break out the hand rake's to see where we are at, I was thinking TIM?! What about Christy and Vinnie with the power rake?! Then I see this was 5 years ago. Also means you've had that maschio tiller for a long time!
Another job well done !! And thanks for taking us along !! And Christy you choose very inspiring Scripture !! Thank you !! Tim it appeared on the video that the soil was very fertile ? I would guess by now he has grass growing in these areas ! You all please be safe and God bless and keep you !!!!! Eddy
Tim always has such a great composition, in all the videos I am becoming a big fan, i love the relationship with your wife and the interaction thats my kind of culture. I am getting ready to invest in my first JDeere tractor leaning toward a 2038R, Ty for all these great videos
Have you ever though of a mini skidsteer? I rented one this weekend to move some wood and redo some trails in my woods. Maybe instead of going bigger you go more compact for even tighter areas.
I suppose it does take some time. We often encounter folks that want to fix their drainage problems by making their water 'run uphill'. We often cannot convince them that it is uphill until we setup our laser level.
I owe you a special nod. I said the best way to level is with a 3-point box scraper. You said pull behind. I disagreed. Spoke to a friend who levels pasture for a living and he said pull behind hands down. Your the man Tim! Btw I love your toothed bucket, that’s a real workhorse. I checked into adding that accessory teeth to one of my buckets from HLA, but the kit is $2800.
Hello, I gotta ask you about the Loader Joystick. with it being positioned a bit far out off the front fender, do you get arm fatigue having to keep your arm up all day working the loader? On different brands or model sometimes it's positioned next the arm off the frame but I thought I'd ask you as I'm looking to buy one of these but that Joystick positioning does not seem too well-thought of. Also if you don't mind sharing, what do is your fuel consumption like and would you say it's an efficient little tractor? Thanks so much!
Welcome to our channel. Between 0.5 and 1 Gallon per hour depending upon usage. I find the joystick positioned perfectly. Perhaps you should actually try one?
TTWT Family, I just got out of the hospital last night was up there 9 days almost 10 nights no fun almost crooked on mon the 10th.i also needed 2 pints of blood My hemoglobin was 6.1 and is to be 14 even i didn't know how dangerous this was/is till now so if any 1 reads this check it out hemoglobin but TTWT you're the 1st youtube channel i came to watch 1st
Sorry to hear that Mean Joe! Do they think they have you 'fixed'? Always appreciate you taking some time to watch our channel. We have 5-6 videos since 10 days ago. We have been publishing more frequently. So hopefully you can get your mind off of your physical health by having fun with us! I will be praying for you!
1st of all thank you, they are hoping they have it under control but it is a wait & see kinda thing. I'm watching more as i write this.thank's for sharing your right gives my mind a break
Any tips on getting the grass to come back as nice as it was? Can you just wait, and let the grass come back in since it's just tilled up into the soil?
Tim you and Christie are a great couple you just seem to blend well together. You and Johnny did a great job as always on the back and on the ditch have you ever considered getting a lawn roller or something for Johnny for jobs like you did here in the back yard so you caould pack the soil down a little to help you see what it would look like after some settling? Just a thought. Have a great day. God Bless!!!
Dear Tim (or should I say Deere Tim?) I have been enjoying your videos for about a year and am impressed with what your able to do with your little 1025. I own and operate a driveway and grounds repair service and use a 5075e. Boy it's tight in a lot of instances and impossible in others. That little guy would be great for the smaller jobs although I think a 2 or 3 series would be better. I think you agree. But that's not why I'm writing today. Throughout your videos there are a lot of instances like this job where you're leveling out a grade. The tiller is perfect to turn the grass into a workable medium. But in stead of trying to do a flat finish grade with thr FEL which is tricky and time consuming, a box scraper would be perfect to scrape the hills down and start filling the valleys. The bomb however would be a land plane to get finish grade. Your FEL could do what the box scraper would accomplish so you wouldn't really need it. After tilling you would be amazed at how fast a land plane works and how awesome the results would be. This job is screaming for one. Maybe you can rent one and try it out. You'll be buying one. Good luck with your future endeavors and can't wait to see your new tractor.....and heeeeeeeer's Johnny. Dan from Livingston Montana
Neighbour asked me to come over and level his back yard, he has a hump in the middle of the yard, it's about 1' raise and about 15' diameter, he's been cutting lawn over it for 20 years so the hump became part of the yard it this year he would like to level it. I was also considering using Tiller to loosen the soil so it's easy to push and scoop, my tractor loader doesn't have the loader with teeth like yours. 25HP Massey Ferguson GC1725M. Tiller may offer good counterweight also. Would you say using tiller to loosen the soil prior to moving with loader s very effective?
Ok thank you looks like we will be ordering one soon then with the ttwt discount code have a happy holiday season Tim and family and gob bless you and your. Unfortunately not all of us are doing so well during these trying times. But I have god my family and my tractor 🚜 what more do I need
Maybe a bit. I worked on software used to organize the control module aoftware. In other words, to make sure the right software package gets delivered to the right transmission. There are LOTS of things behind the scenes to keep everything going in a large company.
Tractor Time with Tim the absolute best transmission I’ve ever dealt with. That’s cool to know you had a hand in it nice job sir and the others also who had there hand in it.
He might want to get some big rocks to make a barrier for that ditch. A fence might require a permit and a guardrail could be years of waiting on the city to get. My neighbor had several vehicles slide into his yard during the winter until he put big rocks next to the street.
I just spoke to Courtney with good works tractors and he was very professional. I feel about the b2680 you're comparing yes shirt 1025r any see if he had it for sale and yes he does, he has it for sale 14499. Tractor loader mower.
I have a question pertaining to the bucket on your tractor because I can't tell when the bucket is level on the ground. What does you do to tell when it is level on the ground and how can you tell it. That is one problem with the tractors like the John Deere and Kubota brands. I noticed that some tractors have a leveling bar which runs up one side of the bucket and tractor and that is a good feature to have.
Tim, you've probably discussed before...I'm purchasing a Woods Tiller in a bit. Option of forward or reverse rotation. Will be primarily used in previously cultivated ground but cannot discount virgin ground. My ground is pretty much rock free but may see use where it is rocky. What do you recommend?
Options are good, right!? I personally like the forward tine tiller because it handles rocks better, but many others really like the reverse tine. So, getting one that can be converted, even if it is cumbersome to convert, seems like a reasonable idea.
I agree with the fact that a box blade does make moving dirt/stone around however they work best in a non-established area. You would have ended up with many clumps of grass/dirt where you don't with the tiller. Once you encounter an area where a tiller doesn't work (like my rocky yard) you will find the spot a box blade would be the better choice. Until then I vote with save your pennies and go with the tiller.
you work your heavy hitch tooth bar pretty heavy. have you ever had yours pop off? mine has come off a couple of times digging up some stubborn roots. maybe i just didn't tighten it down enough....or maybe i'm trying to take too much at one time. nice job on the yard and ditch. thoughts on the tooth bar?
Tractor Time with Tim thanks for the quick reply. I've had it about 2 months now. I got it after watching you work with it in one of your episodes (thanks for the discount). I'll try putting a torque wrench to it. silly me didn't think about that. once again, really enjoy your videos. they're really informative and entertaining.
We asked Carl for a photo, but he did not send. Sorry. I cannot imagine that this would be easier with a box blade. Further, I cannot imagine that grass would be easier to grow after scraping with a box blade. Just my opinions.
I am new to your channel and like what I see. I found your channel by watching Stoneyridge Farmer. Are those attachments for your bucket? I like them, would help break up dirt while digging it would seem.
Welcome to our channel. Thanks for checking us out. We show ALL of these attachments in use through our videos. It might take you awhile to work your way through all of the videos, but if you do, you will see the attachments in use, with verbal descriptions of how they are working for us, techniques we are learning, etc. Again, welcome to our channel.
I didn't realize which video you were commenting on...my bad. ...this is a 'toothbar' You can get it at www.heavyhitch.com . it easily attaches to the loader bucket (in seconds...)..removal just as quick. I find that it makes the tractor seem MUCH more powerful, as there are only a few inches contacting the hard soil at first rather than the full 53" of the bucket. We have LOTS of videos of the toothbar, including a few showing the attachment/removal.
great job Tim, the tiller did it's job. The Geo Thermal had to be a very sizable investment, did he mention if after 10 years it's starting to pay him back?
After watching you do assorted projects, why do you need a bigger tractor? I'm amazed with the power that Johnny has. And there's a lot of attachments made for sub compact tractors. Don't tell Johnny I called him a sub compact! You could get a canopy or umbrella to keep the heat off you in the summer. Love watching your videos. 😎😎😎🤔🤔🤔
Yea, you are right. Johnny can accomplish most of the work we need to do. Occasionally, we need a bit more umph, and often we need a '2nd ride' so that we don't have to switch attachments during the job. Vinny can provide some assistance with the latter need assuming we get a bigger trailer. The largest reason for a bigger tractor is the ability to demonstrate the differences to everyone on this channel, and to have some variety.
@@TractorTimewithTim You have a niche market. And a very good market at that. You can get into a lot of areas with Johnny. Might I ask if you have a gear drive on your tiller?
I have a landscaping company and run a Massey Ferguson 2706e. It is a lot bigger then the subcompact. At 58hp and 4000+ lbs, I do the same work as in this video, but quicker. Primary reason I want/need a larger machine is so that I can lift and move pallets of materials at my job sites. I also remove sidewalks and concrete slabs with it. And with the larger bucket, I can probably move 3 times more material at a time than this size subcompact.
I am surprised you are able to do work in a road easement like that without notification to the town/city etc... Up here, the easement is somewhere between 4-12 feet depending on where you are and any work within that easement has to be approved by the local government or you can get fined huge... especially with water drainage areas. And I also agree with others.. I never really saw much in a box blade either, Tim.. until I used one.. And with quick attach, it takes seconds to hook up or unhook..
Yes. Please call Heavy hitch. They will take care of you. There were a small number of toothbars (2-3) which were drilled improperly. They will be able to verify if yours is one of those. It WILL NOT come off if made properly.
Tim, you did a great job, the yard looks very good afterward. I agree with them below how a grader blade / box would be better for the situation, but it didn't take you much time to make it look good with what you have. That's a big part of cutting costs and being efficient, using what you have and not "having" to have another piece of equipment. This is the first video I have watched of yours, so I am not sure what you normally do, but be very careful with homeowners and getting locates marked. They may not be aware that they need to get the property located and I believe the contractor is responsible either way.
@@TractorTimewithTim So now you need another trailer, then you will have enough equipment to haul Johnny, Casey AND Vinnie! You and Christie will be the ultimate multi-tool.
Thanks Tim It would be nice to use it to cool here in Florida. Unfortunately our water table is about 14 feet down. Coincidently we are about 14 feet above sea level. Hmmm.
This is how the heating/cooling is done. They run water (or some other fluid?) through the soil, 5' deep to extract the cool out of it for summer a/c, and to extract the heat out of it for winter. Pretty cool. Unfortunately, I don't know much more about it. Google it...you'll find tons of info.
I bet you and mike morgan (Outdoors with the Morgans) sell more subcompact tractors than any of the salesman do. Its nice to see them actually work before you go and buy one. Nice job on that project. Stay well and stay safe. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Here's a niche job that you handled well. You stated that you didn't really need this tractor for the size of your lot, but look at all the jobs you have done. Look at Jon Ritter, he did the same thing you did, only with orange. Keeps you out of trouble. Life size hobby? Fulfilling a dream? Got a job that makes a living, and a little breather on the side? Writing software is mind bending job. That's why I trained for the hardware side. The heck with the naysayers.
Love the video. I need to know more from you friend about the Thermo system he his. Can you get me any info that would help out search. We are building and want to use this system. Thanks
Tim uses a John Deere 1025r for most of his videos. I have a 2025r and it does great so far with normal projects on my 5 acres. It really depends on how you're going to use it. They're expensive, but worth it!
Thanks for commenting Snaky. Hopefully, you have subscribed! Welcome to our channel. Yes, I think 'they' have found that tiller and front end loader together work pretty well for lots of box-blade tasks. Box blade would still be better for driveway work (rocks), but overall, I view a box blade as a poor man's front end loader. ...of course, many folks will disagree. ...which is fine :-)
Appreciate it. I was thinking of getting a box blade now and tiller in spring but watching how much you accomplish with the tiller in such an efficient manner I may just go tiller only. I have a BX myself and last week got my own version of a "Casey" in the form of a Yanmar ViO17. We love the channel and subscribed and we watch it as a husband/wife team on the TV sometimes. We first found you when researching mini-splits (and bought the Mr. Cool DIY). Then once we found ourselves on acreage again with a desire for some farmers market/food bank farming in mind we came back for the tractor content :)
I am a folk that's a fan of a box blade for moving and leveling soil. That way you're not compacting the soil with Johnny as you spread it and leaving ruts in the yard.but everyone has a way of doing things. Anyways the weather is finally cooling off almost plowing season the original way i found this channel.
Did not change the flow, or even the elevation of the bottom of the ditch. Only changed the slope of the ditch bank. Not concerned about this in the least. Thankfully, we live in the midwest (less government than some places).
Tim is the GURU of tilling.... You and my man Neil need together, you tilling and he in the driveway!
Hvac guy here, love hearing he went GeoThermal. Such an awesome and energy efficient way to heat and cool a home. Great content Tim. Thank you
How is it in northern climates?
The Master of the Tiller is at again! Love it sir! Viewed, Liked, Subscribed, Shared, Commented! I am a fan! Anytime you are tilling or grading I'm watching!
Carl is such a nice guy,so glad seeing you guys help the community you guys deserve the best.
Yep, really nice guy. We enjoyed working with him in his yard.
Thanks. I like the combo of the tiller identifying the rocks and the bucket digging them out. Thanks for the tip.
Guys it's always a good idea to have underground utilities located before digging near a roadway. Hit a fiber optic line and you are going to learn an expensive lesson! Tim was not digging very deep and I'm sure he walked the area down before starting to identify hazards. Good video
Very versatile tractor, I'm so impressed by the 1025r power & maneuverability.
Tim - You really get a lot out of your subcompact tractor - It’s fun to see what is possible with a tractor like yours - BX owner here - Cheers
I'm sure your BX is just as capable. I haven't operated one, but I have looked them over in detail at trade shows, etc.
Thanks for your comment!
I need to do this so bad to my yard but I have acre. I just put in for a 2025r to help with this project. Thanks for the advice
Johnny got R done! nice tiller. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching. Dave!
Tim, I'm so happy you haven't put music all throughout your videos like other RUclipsrs.
Thanks for saying that. We don't see the advantage of the music. If we had more time, we might use a little bit once in awhile, but for the most part, we think the videos are fine without it.
That diesel grunting is music to me....
My dad just bought a 2020 1025R. He does a lot of plowing snow so he got it with the cab and heat. He loves it.
I always enjoy the projects and the “can do” attitude!
Thanks Alan!

Yep! That is the advantage! You can safely drive all over the customer’s yard.
Disadvantage is that you sacrifice power and some functionality.

I agree, I need Heavy Hitch but waiting on it. Maybe they'll give a big veteran discount one of these days!
Very good Tim you and johnny did good thanks for video's can't wait for the next one
That little tractor does more than what I thought it would
Welcome to our channel! Keep watching. I’m convinced we could turn the world upside down with that tractor if we had enough time! :-)
As Christy was videoing from the front of Johnny, his exhaust pipe was a humming when Tim put Johnny under a load. Sounded SWEET!
He might be small, but he is tough!
Good job Tim and Christy like it .
Well Done👍

Its a massive....it's a HLA extra high volume HD bucket in 120".
No I make my own I wouldn't get a purchase a new when I build my own

SpaceX and tractor time with Tim my two favorite things!
cool tractor!
Welcome to our channel, Bill! Check out some more of our content!
Did you aid in building Allison transmissions?
Maybe a bit. I worked on software used to organize the control module aoftware. In other words, to make sure the right software package gets delivered to the right transmission.
There are LOTS of things behind the scenes to keep everything going in a large company.
Tractor Time with Tim the absolute best transmission I’ve ever dealt with. That’s cool to know you had a hand in it nice job sir and the others also who had there hand in it.
Can that heavy hitch be put on an old Simplicity subcompact tractor?
Yep. Any cat1 3 pt. (And there are cat 0 versions available.)
Hi Sidney, my loader has a bucket level indicator on the right side.
I do not believe the ‘e’ series comes with this feature which is unfortunate!
i couldn't decide between x739 and 1023 until i watched this , more versitale
Hello from CHARLESTOWN in.
rock and roll!....get it? rock and.....thanks i'll be here all night. : )

What model JD is this?
hi guys, great video.
you work your heavy hitch tooth bar pretty heavy. have you ever had yours pop off? mine has come off a couple of times digging up some stubborn roots. maybe i just didn't tighten it down enough....or maybe i'm trying to take too much at one time. nice job on the yard and ditch. thoughts on the tooth bar?
I have not had issue with it coming off. I tighten to probably 50 ft/lbs.
How long have you had your toothbar?
Tractor Time with Tim thanks for the quick reply. I've had it about 2 months now. I got it after watching you work with it in one of your episodes (thanks for the discount). I'll try putting a torque wrench to it. silly me didn't think about that. once again, really enjoy your videos. they're really informative and entertaining.
Please call Heavy hitch. Don’t torque it more.
I thought you said there weren't any rocks in Indiana Tim. Lol!
I really need to get a heavy hitch tooth bar faster then digging with the box blade
Yep!
I was going to ask where you got tour tooth bar for your bucket, when you advertised it😁 thanks and love to watch your adventures
How much would something like this cost?
They need an award called the comeback kid for rookies who turn around a team
Can you show us updates months after tilling to level. Just curious if there is a difference in scraping over tilling
We asked Carl for a photo, but he did not send. Sorry.
I cannot imagine that this would be easier with a box blade.
Further, I cannot imagine that grass would be easier to grow after scraping with a box blade.
Just my opinions.
have to agree here -till it then use bucket to remove and readjust the levelness. way easier than digging hard pan! just my 2 cts too.
He said in the video that his bills were less than half of prior bills.
I wish you could come and move a big dirt mound
That guy is H E double toothpick with that tractor great vid.
Welcome to our channel. Stick around. You might enjoy it!
Yes, gear drive. ...we have an article on tillers on our website.
Thanks for your feedback.
And also we have a 7 acre pice of land that we are clearing what would be better a small tractor like Jonny or like a 3or4 series?
Too hard to answer with that amount of information.
Get a mf 200 series or a ford 4000 series
Another good project
Tim I love your videos! do you think you could do a comparison with the tooth bar you have vs the ratchet rake?
No access to one.
And with quick attach, it takes seconds to hook up or unhook..
hey tim my heavy hitch tooth bar keeps coming off, its on my 2038R tightened set screws as tight as possibe. any suggestions ?
Yes. Please call Heavy hitch. They will take care of you. There were a small number of toothbars (2-3) which were drilled improperly.
They will be able to verify if yours is one of those.
It WILL NOT come off if made properly.
Good job
ohhhh, id like to get in there with my box-blade - make it look like a pool table in short order!
I would turn like that when you are doing that it will mess up the shear pin
Tim what happend to the ventrac why arnt u using it please reply
didn't have it...this video was shot quite some time ago.
Welcome to our channel. Please check out some of our other videos!
Do you guys ever come around brownsburg?
Yes, occasionally.
Be neat if you had auxiliary hydraulics on rear of tractor and then had a 6’ Kilfer blade for dragging and leveling.
13:30 is this an old video you were sitting on? I see you still have the Honda.
Yes. We were waiting on Carl to send an ‘after’ photo. ...which we never got.
BTW, we still have the Honda.
@@TractorTimewithTim So now you need another trailer, then you will have enough equipment to haul Johnny, Casey AND Vinnie! You and Christie will be the ultimate multi-tool.
Get the DOT to install a guard rail near the ditch.
Just what I want....a guard rail in my front yard!
What's the purpose of a geothermal system?
More efficient. Uses heat or cool from ground temperature to assist the furnace or a/c
Thanks Tim
It would be nice to use it to cool here in Florida. Unfortunately our water table is about 14 feet down. Coincidently we are about 14 feet above sea level. Hmmm.
You can use it there. No matter about water table. It is very effective for cooling. Check into it.
@@TractorTimewithTim I'll check into it. I'll let you know what I find out.
When you say geo thermal what is that?
google is your best friend
Jon and I are friends.
@@TractorTimewithTim that's why I mentioned him. 😎😎😎
Love the video. I need to know more from you friend about the Thermo system he his. Can you get me any info that would help out search. We are building and want to use this system.
Thanks
60" York rake with wheels
Thank u
Hi Tim I've been watching you for a while and was curious to what compact tractor you recommend keep up the great vids
Too broad of a question
Tim uses a John Deere 1025r for most of his videos. I have a 2025r and it does great so far with normal projects on my 5 acres. It really depends on how you're going to use it. They're expensive, but worth it!
Thats a lawnmower, but it does pack a punch
I used a tractor that is the same as this 1 they are great pieces of machine
Thanks for watching, Dalton. Check out our other videos! We have 300+ of this little guy and some other equipment in action.
Do they have a box blade for Johnny?
'They' don't.
Do "they" find that the tiller has eliminated the need for a box blade? Oh, and I feel like I need to say "first time commenter, long time viewer" :)
Tim, I love the 1 series but I am still not sure why you do not own a skid steer by now. You can do most your jobs in half the time.
Honestly, wouldn’t get half my jobs because of the damage I would do to folks yards.
Good job, however, be careful on the side of the road. Most municipalities might frown on people messing with their right of way.
Did not change the flow, or even the elevation of the bottom of the ditch. Only changed the slope of the ditch bank. Not concerned about this in the least.
Thankfully, we live in the midwest (less government than some places).
