There is actually a way to make K3 awake while inactive for a longer time than 10 minutes. I wish they included this in the documentation.
    FN + S + O (4 seconds) | disable auto-sleep mode
    FN + S + L + R | set the auto sleep time to 10 mins
    FN + S + L + T | set the auto sleep time to 20 mins
    FN + S + L + Y | set the auto sleep time to 30 mins
Huge thanks to the Keychron User Group on Facebook, where I learned about these shortcuts.

From Keychron K2 documentation. Maybe it will work on K3: The keyboard goes to Auto Sleep Mode in 10 mins of sitting idle to save battery. Press fn + S + O (for 3 seconds) to disable the Auto Sleep Mode. If you want to go back to the Auto Sleep Mode, press fn + S + O (for 3 seconds) again.

Great review, as informative as visually pleasing. Keychron K3 is the first keyboard I'm interested since I got a Drevo Excalibur with brown switches years ago; still, I don't think I'll ever change my Drevo Excalibur, fits my needs amazingly well.

man, I got the k3v2 with the red switches and love it. super quiet and exactly what I was looking for. the red switches are as quiet as my mac keys if not just a bit quieter and feel better. I do like the two height options the keyboard has. For me, the tallest kickstand legs work best.

What do the colors mean? I'm looking for a bluetooth keyboard to use with my android tablet and wfh setup. I use to love mechanical keyboards a decade ago, but havent researched them for a while.
Based on my research I "think" my top choices would be the Keytron K3, Nuphy air75, Nutype f1, or anubus k539.
Non "mechanical" options include the mx keys mini, microsoft designer keyboard, k780, or k380.
My biggest reservations come from wanting a low profile keyboard with good feedback that is quiet and portable enough for me to travel with.

    • @NeverZer0
      @NeverZer0 2 года назад +1

@@monkeyballer32 the colors are based on what kind of feedback you will get from the key stroke and the sounds. If you want a quieter less effort to press the key in go with the red if you want more of a click sound and more effort in pressing the key in to get more feed back there are colors keys for that. I’m sorry I can’t elaborate more on the different options since there are a lot of options out there.

@@gangstaboy9387 what makes your Apex Pro “horrible”? I got one just for fun a few days ago and my only real complaints are how tall the keys feel (compared to Magic Keyboards, MacBook keyboards, etc) and I don’t really like the RGB; having it turned off makes the legends on the keys hard to see.

@@DavidBoni i mean it may be a bit harsh of me to say it's horrible but I've had some keyboard before this and compared to the HyperX Alloy core red I recently owned, these switches does just not feel good. I just don't like them at all. The only thing I like about the keyboard except the RGB is that I can play CSGO with 0.4mm actuation point and same with other games. But I don't know if it's worth it. I feel like 1.1mm would do the trick also like with the keychron k3

Might be the best yes. Certainly is miles better than the G915 with browns that I tried recently! (I really don't like low profile browns based on that.) I'm not super-impressed though. (I have the one with mechanical clicky switches) The space bar was awkwardly light (with too little return force) and the enter key too stiff (ISO version here). But it's gotten better since I've become a bit used to it. What irritates me a bit is that the actuation point on the mechanical blues is so far below the click. I didn't really expect this, not having had a clicky keyboard before. In the start, I adjusted to the tactile feedback and started typing so lightly that I regularly made a click without actuating the key. Which was really annoying. But that might be the case on most clicky keyboards for all I know. It would however make it much easier to not bottom out if the key press actually was right under the click, giving confidence that the click actually meant activation. Which I always thought clicky keys was all about??? But it's getting somewhat better with time by me as a user getting used/calibrated to the exact middle ground between the click and bottoming out that is the actuation point itself. All in all, a good keyboard. I still think I might be a better, faster and less fatigued typist on this low profile board, than a normal profile one, even if it's flawed and many normal profile boards can be deemed objectively better built etc.

There are so few tech reviewers that go into detail about the user experience. I have a classic style mechanical keyboard with linear switches and I would like to try something that can increase my accuracy and speed (lower travel and feedback for when the key is actuated). This is something that should work in theory, but I dont know for sure. Thats why I would like to know more about the user experience.

I actually got it on the Kickstarter, total cost about 65€. I have had it since January, it's so much comfortable than my Anne Pro II, the build is not amazing but it's light and good for traveling. The layout is hands down the best IMO, u have almost same functionality as TKL but much more compact. I got the Keychron Optical Blacks, they're linear, red-like but with more resistance, good enough force and quite silent. U can always get switches for 25$ from Keychron and change them.
I usually use it wired on my desktop, but BT with my macbook worked flawlessly and battery lasted quite a lot. I also would recommend to get the white backlight, it suits the design much better.
Overall I would recommend it, especially for this price, the only keyboard similar is the Logitech G915 TKL, which is 169-220$, with less features.
My only gripe would be that there are not any low-profile keycaps sets available for this kind of layout, so ur kinda stuck with the original ones, which are fine but not the best quality.
