- I feel so fortunate that I finally got a chance to catch İlker Çatak’s German film, ‘Das Lehrerzimmer’ - THE TEACHER'S LOUNGE.
This film captivated me from the first frame to the last and a big part of that is due to Leonie Benesch's amazing performance.
In this review, I'll be discussing my thoughts on the film.

Just saw the film today, and I absolutely agree with almost everything you said on the film. The ending is brilliant in its own way, but I do feel like it leaves a lot of loose ends unnecessarily open… Great review!

I have a master's degree in Education and I no longer work as a teacher, it's not worth it, anything you say, do, or don't do is going to offend some student, and you always end up in trouble.
What surprises me about this movie is that a female teacher can get in trouble because of a student or students who got offended.
In Mexico, if a male teacher says or does anything that makes a student feel humiliated, it is considered violence. But a female teacher can humiliate a student in many ways; whether with comments, accusations or shouting, but female teachers are not accused of violence for humiliating a student.
I don't know Germany, but I like the idea that a female teacher can get in trouble just as much as a male teacher for making a student feel offended.
Thanks so much for sharing! It seems to be perfectly in tune with the modern times, doesn't it? Fascinating to me because I do think in fact the gender of the teacher added an extra layer of depth to my uncertainty in how things would play out as well
Great actors and characters . A little too regimented in plot motivation along with discombobulated scenes.
