There's a reason. It's a conceptualizing. When you hear the first 40 seconds of the song, it sounds like a generic villain theme. This is the usual time it takes to beat an average grunt. The thing is what comes after. Is not a song a bad guy should have. It's foreshadowing. If you take the time to look beyond the surface, you'll find out they are not bad afterall. And once you notice, you can't look at them like before, that's why the loop skips the first part. I don't know much about music, but i know about game design theory and it seems they applied it to the music.
The graphics are not the best but the story is in the same level of bw or eben a little bit better

Team plasma and team skull are so good, but team star has gotta be a new fave for sure. Also aether foundation has always been good too
Team Rainbow Rocket is still one of my favorites to this day but gen 9 is way up there as well.
I hope they make a suprise return at some point since the dialogue implied they weren't finished with their business in USUM, or who helped Giovanni gather the villains across all the different timelines. Damn cliffhanger lol.
Was not expecting Rainbow Rocket to come back and hit so hard while keeping the soul of the original theme's sound.
One interesting design aspect that's very noticeable with all the grunts lined up like this is that each and every one of them has some sort of face covering or shaded aspect to their faces, usually the eyes. Whether it's large hats/hoods/angles blocking some parts of the lighting, or outright face coverings of some sort, not a single one has their face completely unobscured. It goes with either the criminal aspect of wanting to remain anonymous as they perform their crimes, or alludes to the hidden meaning that things are not as they appear with the Team in question, and that there's a hidden story that's in need of uncovering.
I love how that, even with a minor design aspect present in even the most basic rank-and-file grunts, the visual storytelling in Pokemon is on point!
Sword and Shield weren't the best games, but they weren't horrible. But the music, especially the gym leader music.... chef's kiss
Objectively speaking Sword and Shield is one of the better games. It got 8-9 from major reviwers alongside a 38/40 from Famitsu and a 82 on Metacritics

Star, Neo Plasma and Flare are my favourites.
In terms of nostalgia, I have to go with team Galactic's and both of team plasma's themes. But composition wise, it's a tie between team yell and star like gah dayum, I didn't expect their themes to freakin slap this hard, buds!

Aqua and Magma are so heavily slept on. Best grunt theme, best evil team theme, just..the best. It made me want to be one of them growing up lol

I like both team Auqa/Magma and Team star grunt theme , they are both awesome
Aqua/Magma continues to be my GOAT for villain grunt themes. That's not to say some of these themes aren't bangers, but they just can't compare.

Gen 5 Plasma has awesome opening but falls off pretty quickly but the 2nd iteration is much better!
Gen 6 got a nice one but plasma still better.
Gen 7 team skull sounds like a true villain theme they won. Ether foundation was good but team skull just way better.

Gen 9 is unique as they are not really villains, and the theme reflects it. It’s a good theme.

Wow Team Yell actually has a banger too. I skipped gen 8, but got gen 9. Was not expecting a grunt theme to hit that hard. A shame though, since most of the time you beat a Team Star grunt before the good parts happen.
Being just essentially rabid fans/hooligans was pretty boring though for Team Yell. You'd probably enjoy Piers and Marnie's respective themes then since they're related to Team Yell.
Team Yell was the most forgettable for me to be honest. Team Star did a lot better of a job as an interesting team with rocking music and being more empathetic.
At 1st time I fight team star, the music is so kickass I thought it suits for a boss music. 😂

I wish team star would’ve been evil like older teams. I miss that. It would be so intense if it turned out that Pennys evil and had a much bigger plan holding behind. Especially bc she was hacking the league points and stuff, it would’ve fit her so well

After about two decades of genuine malicious evil teams, i'm fine with the evil teams of now being scaled back to just being troublemakers without ill intentions. Allows for something else to set itself up as the plot instead of the same old "evil team wants to use a legendary pokemon to rule the world".
Following the stories of the games Team Star are the least 'evil' of the teams. The only time they bothered others is when they were recruiting people, team Yell was generally known to be a pain in the ass to have around.
And that's absoutely fine, as Noah above me stated, I rather have groups that have a reason for who/what they are apart from being evil just for the sake of being evil/ruling the world.

Star grew on me as I found out more about their backstory. Rather interesting subversion of expectations actually. Though neither they nor Team Yell are actual proper villains.
Someone hasn't played the game yet/doesn't understand the story behind Team Star. Not every game needs to have a team of big baddies hellbent on world domination.
