      Anyone willing to pay $40K or more for supra is a dumbass. There are Supras listed for over $100k.. so someone buys it spends let's say 60 grand on a poopra.. usually people hungry for compliments would spend that on supra, but once they own one they will realize that nowadays nobody cares about Supras..

    • @sparkzbarca
      @sparkzbarca 6 лет назад +25

      well they aren't investments. Basically what he means is that while no investment is guaranteed, it takes a kind of minimum level of return percentage likelyhood to be an investment, if you don't think that then the lotto is "an investment". He's basically saying, don't buy cars assuming they'll go up in value, it's not a reliable enough investment to qualify as an investment. Rob can afford to "risk" it because at the end of the day, if a car tanks in value, he'll be fine. He doesn't go out of his way to destroy his chances of making money off a car, but he doesn't consider buying cars a means of investing, he buys cars to own and drive them.

      Don Ziolkowski in that case then you shouldn't buy stocks assuming they will only go up in value. It really just depends on the car you buy just like it does with stocks. Not every car will go up in price just like not every stock will go up in price

  • @alwayzurboy
    @alwayzurboy 5 лет назад +93

    Rob you have WAY too many cars so i'd like to make a few suggestions
    1. Fire your tuner/builder
    2. If you're in excess of 800hp, please get a twin disk clutch. In the supra world the v160 destroys everything in front and behind it, hence people run 1500hp thru a stock trans. Crank walk is no fun either.
    3. Go thru your entire suspension with super pro poly bushings, get a 2 way lsd, trd sways, dial in your rear suspension to allow some compressions under power but not so stiff where you shock the tire transient shift. She's will track dead straight and not dance under boost.
    4. Change your brake lines to SS lines, bleed dry and run dot4 brake fluid. Ill guarantee that you can stop more than once. Its known fact that the 20+ year old lines expand under pressure inhibiting braking performance.
    5. Run e85
    6. There are 1000whp supra's out there on stock bottom end that last, torque but more so the down stroke on the motor is what kills a 2J, this was ascertained years ago so a good tuner can keep the torque down but make power.
    7. Turbo sizing is everything / tuning and your turner is everything else.
    8. I have a 1300whp car, 930 on its lowest boost setting with AC and progressive traction control that I routinely take on 8 hour weekend road trips and yes I get caught in the rain
    9. Try the Toyo R888R, it dead hooks 1100whp and can handle 60mph in the rain on a 19'' rim
    10. This is an overly capable 20+ year old platform that can make stupid power but you need to be realistic and upgrade the parts in the body to make the platform itself more modern. There's a reason the supra is in the garage and the 488 is outside.
    Keep making videos but out of respect, some of the things youre saying is 10-15 year old information.

      They made (as in used to) 320HP cars that can be modded into 4-500HP cars with relatively small money. To get into the 1000+HP club you're talking major modifications and big money-especially since everything for a Supra is going to cost a lot. You want 1000HP for relatively small money, go buy a used LS engine, strap on an eBay turbo, and hope it holds together long enough to impress somebody at the dyno lol.

Technology has come a long way in the past 5-10 years by leaps and bounds. You should really consider upgrading your turbo to today's standards and upgrade your standalone fuel management to proefi or Aem infinity, also go e-85. You will love your car so much more after doing so.

    Couple of things that you are totally miss-informing people on Mr.Spaghetti:
    -- You do not need C16 to make 1000hp on a supra, e85 (pump gas on most states) now a days will allow this car to make that power without breaking the bank, 600 on 93 octane with Flex fuel.
    -- To make 850 you don't need much, good standalone (AEM infinity) valve springs / cams and bolt on turbo.
    -- You can make them spool much quicker with the right turbo / manifold combo, mine spools at 3500 full boost by 4500 and holds all the way to 8k (6766 ball bearing turbo)
    -- Clutch technology has come a long way, I have a RPS twin disk carbon clutch on mine and is as easy to drive as a stock clutch supra, also you are totally wrong on the price as I just bought it paid $2500 for it brand new not 6k like you claim
    -- You are right about driving them on the rain, this is def a car that can only be driven on perfect weather
    -- Road racing tires on a straight line car is always a bad idea, I would def recommend ET street Rs thats what I use on mine and car hooks and goes strait.

    After owning a 800hp MKIV supra I can tell you its VERY easy to make the 800hp reliably on the stock bottom end. Supra held the best 0-60 stopping time until the Porsche Carrera GT came around...the brakes are amazing stock. You do need sticky tires...supras are probably the most violent car i've ever been in when the boost kicks in and that back end loves to float around. Stock suspension is definitely very bouncy...probably the best upgrade you can get out of the box imo

    Supra is my dreamcar, getting older though but still love the car. Getting those debts paid and I'm buying one straight away. I'm not looking to have that super fast Supra. I am more into having a Supra that has around 550-600 horsepower and can take corners like a king. That's where the Supra shined when it first came out, this hysteria with Supras being best for drag, mmmm not really.. Well it's an amazing drag car no doubt. But having a Supra that can be use as a daily but still take to the track and put in good laps(not drag). That's is what I am looking for in a Supra these days.

    Stock Supra brakes were literally top shelf in 1993 and are specifically designed for multiple 100mph+ stops without significant brake fade. If yours isn’t performing well I’d say you’ve got some components wearing out. Your Master Cylinder may well be in need of replacement yet still providing decent pressure. My 1994 Celica GT4 WRC has the same brakes and it doesn’t get driven very much either. After a track day where I felt it’s brakes were adequate but faded way too fast, I went ahead and bit the bullet and rebuilt my Master Cylinder, Front calipers and lubed all four sets of guides and replaced all four sets of pads with new OEM pads even tho they had most of their material left. Plus all new brake fluid. Now it will snap your neck now - over and over and over with no issues. If you’re not familiar with the ‘94 GT4 WRC it is very similar to your Supra aside from it being a 4cyl AWD car. We have the same specs on pistons, bores, stroke, valves,Yamaha heads, etc etc. hell, even the stock Turbos are the same aside from mine having a twin-entry turbine whereas you simply got two of them. Obviously, I didn’t get the complicated sequential setup but mine DID come with factory anti-lag, water/methanol injection and a huge water to air intercooler with integrated IC sprayer bar (cools the heat exchanger with washer fluid).
    I said all that to setup the similarity of the identical braking system, general similarities of the two cars but most importantly to tell you this is a VERY heavy Celica - it’s hundreds of pounds heavier than the next closest model so my brakes do have quite a job to do.
    I’d spend the money to refresh that braking system if yours is fading. It shouldn’t be suffering from brake fade noticeably on track day hard braking.
    Anyway, yours is a beautiful car! Mine is also black, I wish we could get these two andmy MR2 Turbo together for a family photo!

    Yeah but there's something magical about turbo lag. Companies are fighting to make VERY SMALL (say 1 to 1.5 liter) turbo engines with no lag... which is fine to emulate old V6s and shit power wise... but say a turbo diesel truck? When that bitch spools at like 3,000 rpm and it took 5 seconds for it to spool and you take off... it just feels so good. It's like a sling shot of power...
    I have an old Saab 900 turbo from the 80s, and the garrett turbo they put in it was too big for a 2 liter engine, but it comes on strong at like 4,000 rpm. Redline is only 5,500 for those cars, but if you're not careful you'll blast right past it because once it freight trains the boost it feels awesome. It's one of those it's not fast but it feels fast because of what it is situations...

    • @GTRNights
      @GTRNights 6 лет назад

      hmm, well my 2.6l straight 6 twin turbo builds boost starting at 3k and it redlines at 9. Makes 600+hp at 8. So, not sure why you'd try to compare diesel to small gas anyway. Two completely different setups for two completely different purposes.

    "gas is expensive" put it on E85 bra

    • @GTRNights
      @GTRNights 6 лет назад +2

      E85 isn't that much better. You're better off just running what's best for your setup and tune and worry about the money later. But then, if you can afford the car and the build, you probably don't have to worry about the gas prices. At least, I don't. But here's the thing. Ethanol requires about 30% more volume. So you're losing about a 1/3 of a tank quicker than with 91. So add that extra 30% into it and let's do some elementary math.
      91 octane at 3.09 per gallon for 16 gallons = $49.44 per full tank fill up.
      E85 at 2.25 per gallon for 20 gallons (to account for extra 30% usage) = $46.80 per full tank fill up.
      So you're really only saving $2.64 PER TANK and how much do you really drive it? I fill the tank in my GT-R about twice a month so I'm saving less than 6 bucks a month on E85 and my paycheck monthly is well over 7 grand. I'm not sweating that extra 6 bucks, but I do run E85 because that's how I'm choosing to run this build and tune to make 600+hp, burn colder, and have less knock concerns.

One think you pointed the lag on the 1000hp car, can that be resolved with anti-lag to spool up the turbos? I mean since the amount of money spent on the car is huge, so why ot an anti-lag, will it not work as I think it should?

      sergsrt8 where I live (Houston) there is stations with e85 everywhere . The lower cost of e85 balances out the lower fuel economy. I’m getting 5 miles less with e85 when I’m not on it. For winters just flash another tune .

    ISP has a customer with a white Supra running a Borgwarner on E85. All stock long block and internals. Making just a little shy of 950whp last I saw it on the break your heart dyno. Races every weekend or every other weekend. Rob build is from the stone ages.

    This is why you have more than one set of tires and a tune/boost controller with a high and low so you can drive it anywhere on low boost add my friend does. Btw, he does have Tilton clutch, coilovers, aftermarket brakes and so much more and he has 978 whp on high boost, head never been removed.

    Hi Rob, quick question. Love this format, super informative!
    How about a 2006-2009 E92 335i? Is that the dream tuners car then?

    Never cared for the people
    The culture behind the Supra, most are like GTR fanboys, just idiots and childish. If it weren't for those people I'd love the Supra and GTR(skylines, the new R35 is just aged garbage) little more.

      Brolution Gaming ...as opposed to the AARP crowd (Corvette) or rich douches on parade (virtually any exotic)? I agree though. It's not a bad car but it's been oversold. The bad movies and the terrible body kits only reinforce that. It's still less toxic than the Honda Civic but not by a lot. It handles well (far better than the Corvette of the era, I once owned one) but if I wanted a 1K horsepower car I would choose something else. At 430ish horsepower though, it's a pretty cool car. More than that and you're just deciding how much extra low end you're willing to give up since you're ditching the factory twin turbo system

      I want to get and save Supra MK4 and Skyline R34 from these dumb kids and then keep them stock or with few fully reversible minor mods on exhaust and keeping the stock parts. I want to do it before they can import R34s to USA cuz then every Skyline R34 on earth will go bye bye to too rich Paul Walker wannabes and get wasted, just like the Supra, on rice or failed attempts to replicate 1000bhp dragster builds and then prolly total it -_-

      Brolution Gaming Why is there always somebody complaining about a Supra or a skyline??? All the time, some random person that has never owned a Supra or skyline is always talking shit and at the end of the day nobody cares about eachother!!! you guys are envious, thats the true fact of the matter, apart from you guys hating that these cars get attention, you have to complain about the people who like them??? Dude get a life!!! Stop giving a shit youll live longer!!!!

      Cricis11700 nah he's right, personally I love the Supra and the skylines, but the fanbase around these cars is one of the most toxic and idiotic in the whole car community
