When I was in high school we studied a little story of this Abu Simbel. I admired very much those who carved thi huge rock into a large cave. Their patience is immeasurable, their creativity is great.
human civilization after another crash finding this temple again: amazing, they could have just carved it into the hillside but chose to flex by cutting the hillside into pieces and carving every block before re-assembling it not only that but they incorporated lore into its very design by using 2 different units of measure
Eh......it's so small. You can probably tour the whole site in under an hour. The statues are cool, but with it being so out of the way and difficult to get to, I think it could be skipped. I see that Karnak is the most spectacular as it combines a little bit of everything, so seeing that one would probably be enough for me. IDK, maybe it's because I've seen them on TV too many times, but when I was younger Abu Simbel and Giza seemed far more impressive then they do now.
