You can actually hold the control wheel in a direction to switch quickly between menus. Like if im in climate and want entertainment I can just push and hold the control wheel downwards.
Thank you very much for this... I have the choice of going for a lower mileage 320d E-Dynamics without Sat-Nav, or one with double miles but with Sat-Nav... this has helped me decide..... think it will be the lower mileage.
Mick Mcginley. The drive that reads the nav discs is a DVD drive but it doesn't have the software to play DVD films. For that you need something like a Dension 500 gateway and a seperate DVD player which will plug into the back of the screen. Not the tidiest solution but there is a vid on you tube of how it works and links in to headrest monitors too
I think there's a kit called a Dension 500 which will allow it to play DVDS, it will pair to Bluetooth if the option was spec'd in the first install, alternatively the Dension 500 also has a Bluetooth add on or the Parrot kit I had fitted to mine was excellent, really nice install and felt like it was stock option.
I got a problem mate like for me you see how you can change different perspectives of the map I only have the arrow perspective and nothing else why is that??
Not without ripping the guts out I don't think. You've gotta think long and hard is it worth the effort, the cost and will it continue to work afterwards.
Hi there,I have the same unit as the 1 displayed.there is a CD player and another slot which sat nav disk goes in.it says on it DVD but when a DVD is installed it won't play.can u tell me why please.thanks Mick
for me it will be a deal breaker when i will buy my next car. But can you tell me , wich version of idrive is your because i saw that you only have one button next to your idrive wheel, and there are cars who have a few more. What are the differences. Thx.
When i use the rds function on fm the text is garbled but on another car it isn't. And do you know if i can get an iso to burn the navigation map on a disc for Lebanon?
I got a question. I just bought a 3 series from 2006 with a standard screen with. On the testdrive i noticed that in navigation mode i didn t see the map overview. I only saw arrows and distance till the next turn. Can i chance this in settings or do i need to update the navigation software
I think on the standard business sat nav it was a more basic display but don't quote me on that. Sorry I can be of more help, I take it it's not just zoomed all the way out?
I did some research after this post, it is indeed a older nav-system with only arrows. Didnt notice it during testdrive wich is unlucky. But thanks for your comment
+Frederik Randers With the early E90 / E91 it was aux only, but you could fit a Dension 500 which will sort this out, the later models had sub and aux input.
okay thanks, got try and fatham out the rest , only bought the 330i .....05 the other day and i am slowly working my way around all the switches, your video gives me easy intructions into the sat nav if you needed to add a location. after watching your vid, im sure i can manage that ..lol .....thanks
Man cave modder. If memory serves me right (the car was sold two years ago) the CCC version is the later style. If you're buying new BMW will be able to help, and they will also help you empty your wallet. I would eBay it, most sellers list which models the disc works with. Try this item number in eBay 281699753663. Regards

The professional is a larger wide screen with more features. This is the previous version available between 2004 and 2009
No its the same size buy that called CIC this CCC

looks awesome. thanks for posting this m8
id there a part 2 to this video once you know how to work the iDrive?
My idrive didn't have Bluetooth but the car did have a Parrot kit fitted and connected to the steering wheel controls
Good video, this is just what i was looking for, thanks.
I have this CCC iDrive, did think about the upgrade to CIC but you’re looking at least £800. Quite a lot of money.
Mick, it won't play video files, for that you need a Dension 500 gateway and an external DVD player which will do the trick
I got a problem mate like for me you see how you can change different perspectives of the map I only have the arrow perspective and nothing else why is that??
The navigation system is almost identical to my 2008 MINI. I've had to buy a BMW disc just to update the software
Well done mate thanks heaps you were very helpful to say the least
Fantastic. Thanks so much for posting

Is there any way to upgrade the old (2006 ish) version of the iDrive to the newer looking one?
Buy an Android screen
It just needs the latest maps dvd for that system
No Bluetooth?
Good review tho 👍
What do you do to the control wheel to access settings????

Great review, quick question: can it play DVDs? And can you pair it with an iPhone via Bluetooth. Thanks in advance.
depending on which one on mine you can pair using blueetooth and play music from your iPhone too
thank you

I don’t know I’m afraid. This car has long since been sold on, good luck though
How do you do bluetooth?
how do i turn the display back on - i dont have it programmed to my sterring wheels options, Any way i can do it via voice commands
Jr Perez i think you just Need to Click the idrive Controller and its back on
Mhhhh the facelift iDrive is so much better
That's progress for you. Not a bad start for BMW though
bishbashbosh.tv : Yes, the iDrive is amazing......no matter 2005 or 2009.
