  • ''''Swales Hugelkultur , Tour of Layout ' Rain Diversion Project ''''
Swales as used in permaculture are designed to slow and capture runoff by spreading it horizontally across the landscape (along an elevation contour line), facilitating runoff infiltration into the soil. This type of swale is created by digging a ditch on contour and piling the dirt on the downhill side of the ditch to create a berm. In arid climates, vegetation (existing or planted) along the swale can benefit from the concentration of runoff. Trees and shrubs along the swale can provide shade which decreases water evaporation.

That's a testament to a ton of sweat and work.
Don't know much of anything about deserts.
But going to spend some time on your channel watching videos.
I'm back east on the southern tip of the Appalachian mountains. West side in Georgia.
    Applauded for this post.
Saw you over on prepper nurse's channel and decided to click on your channel.
    Glad I did.
    :)

Where are you located? I'm in zone 8 and Central Texas. It looks a little like that but you said of mile-high so I was wondering cuz Colorado. I'd like to see more about what grows in the desert area since I'm just getting started with permaculture
