That doesn't say how to protect your books. One of my books has someone who has attached themselves to it right now. I had to unpublish it but the scammer still showed up in my Author's page. Now, I have to get off KDP altogether because Amazon doesn't offer any help with these types of problems.
A woman on Amazon had her book cloned in its entirety 2 years ago, same words, same cover everything. All the scammers have done is change the author name and half the price. The original author has complained to Amazon, sent the publisher and the scammer author cease and desist orders, but nothing has been done! The real author's posted many comments in the reviews section of hwr own book and the cloned book on the sellers page etc (which is how I saw it) but people dont seem to care and keep buying the scam book. Amazon don't care and the scammer doesn't care. Unless you have thousands of dollars free to track scammers down and then sue them, there appears to be nothing that can stop them. Very sad really, as Amazon can clearly see the scammers book is identical and they could block it immediately.
That happened on eBay ? I saw my book seems so strange price etc .. this book is managed distributed by lulu. Your advice thank you so much for your videos !
As I discuss in the video, there is a link in the description of this video to an article that discusses this and has all the resources. Also the app gives this information as well if something is flagged. :)
Thanks for the video. If I see the price has dropped, how do I know if that drop is from Amazon or a scammer? And if a scammer, how can I fix/repair the situation (and report it)? If Amz drops the price, how long is it for and do they return it to your set price when done?
You bet! Hopefully it helps more authors - so far we've had three authors contact us letting us know it revealed a scam on one of their books. The more people who use it, the faster authors can act, and the less profitable these scams will become.
This would be about ReaderScout - a free chrome plugin. I think you are talking about Publisher Rocket? If that is the case, then be sure to contact Rocket's support and they can help you out with that. Usually if someone is getting that, it is because they have a firewall or virus protector stopping rocket from pulling info from our servers...but support can help you with that.
I have one book that Reader Scout flags often, but I cannot see the price change. I realized maybe it was changing in a different market. Is there a way for RS to say which country price has changed and if it is the ebook, paperback, or another format? What is the key to knowing when it is an Amazon price change and not a scammer?
Generous and interesting. If I can avoid offending you to ask as I am concerned with plug in permissions, what permissions does your plug in require? I see allowing any program or plug in as risking our accounts and private info, credit cards, etc as very risky. I found this presentation interesting and of great value however and do thank you. ~ Salty
No problem at all. As for permissions, the only thing ours does is just track your book's information and your author follower number so that the plugin can present that to you. Nothing else.

Sadly, ReaderScout is only for the US marketplace, but that will change soon. :)
