We are knee deep with the restoration of this 2000 Jeep XJ and you know what? We got rust issues! Lower rocker panel rust to be more specific. And I bet you do to if you’re like the rest of us shmucks that happen to live in the dreaded rust belt. Unfortunately once rust starts it is almost impossible to stop and when the paint starts to bubble well, you got holes buddy. Luckily there are great companies that produce rust repair panels that allow us to cut out the rusty bits and replace them with shiny new metal. When done properly you will never know it was replaced. Now cutting your car up isn’t for the faint of heart, it can be quite intimating, but it can be less stressful with the correct tools and a little bit of knowledge. So follow along with our 2 part series as we show you how to replace rocker panels on a 2000 Jeep XJ. I also should mention these methods will cross over into almost any rocker replacement job. Enjoy! -Jay

Awesome content and perfect timing. Getting into full on rebuild of 2001 XJ with roached out rockers. Was staring at them wonder how the F to remove them with pillar supports attached. You saved me a ton of time with these 2 videos.
Well done! Now I know I don't want to attempt it LOL
Haha thank you! It’s definitely a intimating job if you’ve never done it.
Jeez compared to mine those rockers were mint! Just found the channel, great content.
Thanks so much! Stick around we got a lot more goodies coming your way!
Good content. Just what I needed to see
I love the show. I don’t know if I missed it in part 2 but could you show replacing the inner rocker as well?? I have to do the same repair and appreciate the detail you all put into your work.
In terms of pench welds underneath the unibody how would you drill them out? Do these pench welds run the along the whole underside or just underneath the pilars?
Thanks so much! We kinda glazed over the inner rocker repair. But basically we made a Z channel that welded to the original inner rocker and that also gave the lower rocker panel a attachment point. If your inners are complete shot they should be completely replaced. Ours were good minus the mountings area. And yes the entire lower pinch weld is spot welded.
Ya think I could do this with my flux core I’m about to tackle rockers
Yes I would imagine you could. I would do some practice welds first though. Just make sure the welds are of good quality and getting penetration. .
Great video! Did you remove all of the old rocker also under the B pillar?
Yes we did. It’s a little more work. But it the right way to do it.
@@CovertsShop Thanks, agree, pretty extensive job so better do it right!
Turn the noise (music?) down, please.
The "rocker" pictures maker your video childish
Eeee life to short to be serious all the time. 😁
