....hate to say - SUGGEST anything, as you have worked so very hard & the gardens and inside home have come so far in just 1 year and all so very charming; so well done!....However, I so LOVED the former position of the FINIALS when you moved them last year to the FRONT PORCH steps. They really defined and pulled your eye into the front porch and charm of the multiple topiaries on the porch and let your eye rest on the charm of the English House itself. I would once again, relocate the finials back to the front porch steps and move the 2 matching urns where the finials are today; new adjustment due to rails. So that you have ALL four (4) matching URNS pulling / in your eye and inviting you up the steps giving you a big bang/wow factor. Those 4 matching urns once potted up with matching Lantana like last Summer, will truly be a WOW factor defining your entrance steps and new railings! Step back to the street and envision and recall photo from street last Summer. Looking for to my tulips to join my Daffodils and Grape Hy. so looking forward to your 1st Spring Garden of 800 bulbs I think you mentioned last November...WOW!
Everything looks beautiful. The buds on the tree against that blue sky is a welcome sign. Thanks for sharing your time, knowledge and lovely cottage garden with us. You are a joy!
Dearest Linda, you really are a gardener of all seasons - a very realistic gardener who not only shows the glory of the garden but also how to get through the winter chills - you are inspiring ❤
I think the railings are brilliant. However, it seems to me that they overpower the previous composition. I would widen the beds along the steps and maybe put an evergreen small tree in the middle of either bed to balance the visual weight of the new railings. Or transplant the boxwoods along the railings to the other end of the beds, again to give visual balance
I took advantage of the 58 degree weather here in Holland Mi, I cleaned the deck, hung my William Morris patio curtains, and uncovered a bunch of potted boxwood and placed them in their designated spots. My hyacinths are popping up and other bulb greenery are too. I'm glad your railings are installed. They are perfect. Because I'm in another zone I'm going to wait to get all the leafy stuff out of the beds. You usually are about a month ahead of my area in 6b. I absolutely do love the shadow play especially in the morning of my garden in the back. The sun rises in the East and when I open my bedroom curtains I see the shadow of the trees falling on the whole entire Garden in back. Very dramatic. Yes the concrete artichokes look really good there. They really do make the terrace look wider.
I 100% agree with you and the (Hubs) in placing the finials! They look so beautiful and they do trick your eye into thinking the framed space is wider. Also, the hand railing is fabulous! The cottage in the Hill, just keeps getting better and better!! 😍👍🏻👏🏻
Garden shadows are fun to experience. On our previous yard we had a charming flying goose weather vane atop our 1920s garage roof that threw wonderful shadows depending on placement of the sun.
Everything is starting to wake up here in Northeast Texas too!! I’m so excited! Your Garden is thriving already! Happy Spring! Love your Blue Sky! Blessings!❤️🙏
🍀🍀🌱🌱HAPPY SPRING to You LINDA !🌱🌱🍀🍀 Thank You for the Cataloge suggestions.. Can't wait for them to arrive with all the fantastic Ideas I saw online,, I'm sure I will Enjoy..🏵🏵 Hi Stewart..
Whoa can't believe how hot it is there with you already! Loving the railings 😊. So safe. Thank you for sharing. Love from Rosie O from Devon England 🏴
Oh Linda! I love hokas. Have you noticed that Homs wearers always notice other hokas wearers? 😊 Love your garden. So glad I found your channel a year ago. Friend forever!
The railings are fantastic and serve as practical helpers for you and visitors, so very important. I noticed the pretty shadow play in your last video. The concrete finials help frame the brick sides of your house from the front sidewalk view. I think we’ll notice quick growth in your garden with each coming video, so exciting! 🌷
Oh my gosh, your spring garden will be so beautiful in a short time. I have recently re-watched a video of yours from around 12 months ago. Then, you had plans and dreams of how it would look and had begun your very first plantings. Now we will see it come to full beauty. Thank you for everything that you show us. ❤
Snow is starting to melt here as of today.....enjoyed seeing your garden. It is always a joy to see my plant friends pop up after the long cold winter.
My Victorian Cottage has many features and thrifted finds that cascade whimsical and romantic shadows throughout the gardens. I just purchased another antique planter for the old courtyard from an antique store that will add more of those wonderful shadows we love. ❤
Linda, great idea moving the artichokes. I feel your anxiety over all the plants that may not have made it. I pray that they spring forth and become anew. Fingers crossed.
I adore shadow play in my garden. I have a wooden pitched awning right outside my large glass door off the kitchen. It not only make wonderful shadows in the patio throughout the day... but also on my kitchen terracotta tiles. As the sun moves , the patterns move. I love the visuals. When you showed the before and after of the garden, its hard to believe. Looking at it in its current state, that it will look like the after in a few months. That's the hope and heart of a gardener. Whereas your garden looks dried and decomposing , Mine is just the opposite. My yard is so overrun with tall green grasses everywhere. It has been so wet that I can't even see my stone path thats similar to your lemon lane path. I am not looking forward to the many hours it will take to pull them all out. At least right now it comes out pretty good because the soil is so wet. I am in the Bay Area in Ca zone 10
I love ❤️ everything you do Linda. I watch you all the time for ideas and tips on planting seed directly into the garden and garden cleanup. I live in Arkansas so I deal with pretty much the same conditions. Thank you 🙏 for all you do.
I was at Moss Mountain Farm and I was so tempted to stop over in Oklahoma to see Linda's Garden but I had to control my desire to do that. My nephew just moved to Arkansas about an hour and a half from Moss Mountain Farm north of there actually . He and his wife are creating small little Bungalows for airbnbs
@@mifasola1 I actually have been to see P. Allen Smith at Moss Mountain. He had a chicken chat and sold heritage breed chickens. Lunch was also served with some of his favorite dishes. It was a lot of fun. I plan yo go back again when his garden is in its full glory. Oh, I actually got to meet him and get his autograph.
Those Angel wings plants, were new to me last year. I planted them in black iron urns and what a show they were. They filled up the pots beautifully and even spilled over. Just beautiful!
Linda I would suggest you to plant the Senecio in a big pot with a gravel, soil and riversand mixture surrounded by Erigeron. Its also drought tolerant.
Hi Linda - it's been awhile since I've watched you. I'm happy to see you're getting a head start on the spring cleanup. The wrought iron railings look great.
I love the railings! And how nice that your weather is so beautiful and you can get out there and check on everything as it start to green up and grow.
Carlsbad and the whole area around there is heaven for people who like succulents! It was always dangerous for me when I was working and often visited clients down in that area!
Things are even starting to pop here in Minnesota, over 50 degrees here today, unheard of. Love all of your content! Love the before and afters. Hey Stewart.👋
Thought of you today as l was cleaning leaves out of my flower beds. It is 73 in Mississippi! Love watching as your front lawn comes to life in the spring! You are an inspiration to me!
Linda, those stair rails look amazing! I’ve found they are so useful in my own garden as I age, and makes guests feel more comfortable visiting. I love that pretty green shirt you’re wearing. Source, please?
The finials look awesome and the garden step railings look stately - can't wait to see the tulips blooming. How fun will that be - in Indianapolis for St. Patty's Day with your family.
The shadows from the railings when filmed from below are fascinating. Deep blue sky is so luscious. I like the senecio succulents and will be interested to see how you arrange them.
What a great video ! The stairs in the front look beautiful. The dark color of them matches well with the roof ,& we southerners "delight " in the graceful " swoop" of stairs! ( cue Gone with the Wind music) LOL😂 plus.. over 55 years old + railings= happiness !! 😊 Lol From Georgia with love ❤
When I bought my home, many years ago, the very first thing I did was to have black, wrought iron railings installed. They look beautiful, and truly do add stability to my going up and down the steps. To me this was a great investment. Yours look very nice. Watching this video makes me very anxious to get out into my gardens, but I am holding off a little longer. My temperature high for today is 40, and for tomorrow the high will only reach 30.
I love the idea of the railings...VERY cottage addition. I, just my opinion...no expert here, would have made them a thinner style. I think now that they are thicker, I would open up those surrounding beds on each side just a little, to give a bit more balance to the heaviness of the railings. Of course, the overall look will change greatly when all the glorious color of blooms fill in.....can't wait to see your tulips and all. Love the shadows of the railing. ....Winter is SO brown!!!
Speaking of throw rugs…have you considered an outdoor rug for your front porch? I think it would look great! Love the railing and can’t wait to see the much anticipated rails in the back. Bring on Spring, I say!
❤❤ …… won’t be long before you will have beautiful colours in your garden. The cone finials look great in their new spot, the railing beautifully completes the front steps. I think a couple of larger lanterns would look good at the top of the stairs, or also lift them up a little with some pavers, they look a little lost behind the planting. And this is a loving suggestion not a critique😊 xx
Linda I am driving down to Indy from Holland Michigan to see you at the Flower and Patio show and I want to ask you to please autograph my books. It's going to be a day trip for me. I'm really excited about seeing you on the 17th
Thanks for your time today Linda and Stewart. Great video. Linda I can see some of that sweet potato vine in those planters by the steps close to your front door. That chartreuse green color close to lemon lane would be so pretty!
I like the new placement of the front garden artichokes ……..can’t wait for spring and green ❤
The finials look great in their new spots!

Love the new railings on the front stairs from the sidewalk! Also, the two concrete finials look great in their new locations.
Everything looks beautiful. The buds on the tree against that blue sky is a welcome sign. Thanks for sharing your time, knowledge and lovely cottage garden with us. You are a joy!
Love the railings! They look great with your garden and home as well as VERY useful.
Dearest Linda, you really are a gardener of all seasons - a very realistic gardener who not only shows the glory of the garden but also how to get through the winter chills - you are inspiring ❤
Your excitement over your emerging plants is sooo contageous! Can't help but smile with you. Thankyou for sharing.
Love the railing!!! It gives a solid basis for your home next to the tall one next door. I like it!!!❤
Wow! Your right the railings do ground the whole yard! Looks fantastic, and practical.
I love the style of the cottage. It is truly a “cottage “. ❤
I think the railings are brilliant. However, it seems to me that they overpower the previous composition. LV, you are a treasure. 🙏🏽
I have said it for years. You are such a gracious and generous lady. I, too, cannot wait to play in the yard (SWMO).
I love the new placement of the pineapple finials. And I love your new railings. Spring is coming!! Thank you for the videos!
I am in awe of all you've accomplished at your home in such a short period, Linda, both inside and out.
Love the railing, Linda. It helps frame the middle.
Linda I love your new railings, it compliments and completes your beautiful home 😊😊😊

I love the before and after pictures. It is amazing the changes. Your a miracle worker girl.
Everything looks beautiful!! That railing is the perfect perfect touch. It does help to ground the space!! I can't wait to see the tulip show.
I like the before pics from last year and to see how much you've done since last very impressive KUDOS to you
I 100% agree with you and the (Hubs) in placing the finials! They look so beautiful and they do trick your eye into thinking the framed space is wider. Also, the hand railing is fabulous! The cottage in the Hill, just keeps getting better and better!! 😍👍🏻👏🏻
I love the concrete appointments, they really make the front look larger! Nice!
The shadows from your new railing match the patterns of the bricks in your brick patio ❤
Railings are absolutely fabulous 👌!

Love the new railings on the steps
79° Lucky you! Your looking fabulous! Love white flowers!
The view of the house, looking up from the front sidewalk is spectacular.
The railings look great
What a great shot of the full front of the house Just beautiful ❤

Here in California you inspire me to have patience with my garden. 💛

Wow!!! Did you see the beautiful blue sky above the cottage? Incredible!!
Love the new placement of the finials.❤
Oh,the anticipation of your Spring presentation of tulips.must be so exciting!
Yes on the finial placement! Looks great!
Love the rails
Wow, what a big difference when everything so lushes green in the summer time. So beautiful. I have to stop and take picture's. I love it.

Hi Linda❣️. I love the angel wings plants you got 🧚🏻 They are so pretty and will look great against the blooming tulips❤
I am so anxious for spring. Your enthusiasm is contagious. My daylilies are popping up! I'm so excited to see green. Yay!
The railings are gorgeous and very much needed.
I get that Serena Lily catalog and it's great to extract ideas from. Ooo! I love that side railing!
Love where you put the artichokes. It gives the view a broader view.
Linda, great idea moving the artichokes. I feel your anxiety over all the plants that may not have made it. I pray that they spring forth and become anew. Fingers crossed.
Don't you just love Spring?💕🌸💜🌼💛🌷💚☘
Yes bring it on 😊❤ 🏴

Love the shadows on the stairs from the new railings!
Hi Linda - it's been awhile since I've watched you. I'm happy to see you're getting a head start on the spring cleanup. The wrought iron railings look great.
I can’t believe that you are sooo very warm. Crazy 😮 CT is at 36 right now. ⛄️
The artichoke statues look beautiful in the new spot.
I needed this today, thank you!

Looking forward to seeing your spring garden. I kn it's going to be lovely
Metal edging would be beneficial for the flowerbeds around the staircase railings ❤
With the pineapples on the upper sides, it looks like butterfly wings. It will look great on full bloom.
Linda, would you go over your garden journal some time? What does it look like? What do you write in it? How does it help you?
