In hindsight though, it's not necessarily a bad game. It really just lacked the horror atmosphere that 4, and even 5 to an extent, had. 6 was just a pretty competent action game that had some pretty neat gimmicks, again which isn't necessarily bad.
Resi 6 isn't a bad game. Actually, I enjoyed it a lot. It just departed too far from what fans of the originals liked and when you look at it from that perspective of course you're gonna say it's bad. As a game on it's own, it's actually pretty good.

Well to be fair,It's a good and fun game...Just not a true resident evil.I think what made all the games up to 4*Yeah,for me four was still a Re* was the ambiance and a certain coherence in the atmosphere.You didn't change local at a break neck pace like 5 and 6 and you could appreciate your surrouding,letting it build up some kind of tension at least.
I agree with you 100%. But think about how a Zombie Apocalypse/Biohazard works. There's a few different aspects of something like this. First, there's Survival Horror aspect to it (When a small isolated area gets infected, like the mansion). Then, when infection spreads, the military gets involved (guns, explosions, WAR) It's been in movies past and before the release of Resident Evil 1. Then there's the aspect of people who have been through a few Zombie BOW invasions who's trained to fight these things, like RE5 and RE6. They aren't going to fight like they did in RE1 and RE2, those characters are more experienced and stronger. I don't disagree with you one bit. I just find it cool that throughout the years Resident Evil has given us different aspects of fighting BOW's and Zombies through.
Rocknrollazero I originally hated the game. I think merc mode and the combat in general is awesome. The main campaign feels very uneven in terms of quality. I think if they should have cut the campaign down in half and made it more John Wick than Michael Bay.

This is one of my favorite Resident Evil. And I have played all of the main titles as well as some of the spin-offs. I hope Resident Evil 2 and 3 are done with this engine (or with the Revelations 2 engine)

There's only two good things about this game, Pierce's anti-material rifle as that thing is op as fuck when you quick shot, and Chris's ridiculous melee finishers "Chris Smash!" Jake was a good idea but didn't really have enough time to develop, his character ark felt very rushed and almost forced.

For the exact same reason you just mentioned, it's not really good given that has "Resident Evil" in the title, the game is really fun to play and has some cool mechanincs that make the mercenaries one of the best of the series, but the survival horror aspect is gone in the game with the overwhelming amount of action packed scenes, Resident Evil 6 is like a dark themed gory Beat'em up game mixed with a TPS, lack of puzzles and exploration through the areas of the game, no weapon customization like the previous games. (Things that made the previous games good and most people want to see) That's why most people can agree that although the Resident Evil 5 and 6 are fun, they are a disappointment to the series.

I decided to play it specifically because I didn't want to rely on other people's opinions and still couldn't finish it.

TBH, second best RE game for me, i know it shouldn't be technically RE but eh...good game, nice game.

It's hard to even watch this after finishing the absolute PERFECTION that is Resident Evil 7. Aside from Bloodbourne it's absolutely hands down the best fucking game i've ever played. I never thought REmake and Code Veronica would be topped but holy shit RE7 came in and blew them away.

When I saw this stream the only entertain part of the game was when Leon was in the city. At the start of his story. Then hating to seeing the destruction of his character cause of that idiot Helena.
