S V Ramanan. A great percussionist somehow not sufficiently popular commensurate with his expertise. I remember one of his performances where he backfilled for a mrudhangist that fell sick, in an Aruna Sairam concert. And he stole the show with his excellent performance, better than the lead artist herself. This concert is available in RUclips in two parts.
While I appreciate his simplicity of white shirt, perhaps a more lose fitting one should be helpful to overcome his noticeable discomfort on the stage. Also he SHOULD watch his own video so that he may in future avoid his peculiar antics and gestures that distract the viewer. I have followed his progress from his first performance in the after noon slot in the Academy some fifteen years ago. I do wish him well.
