Reggie Noble, aka Redman, is definitely a hip hop legend and one of my all-time favorite lyricists. He definitely had the best episode of MTV Cribs back in the day. When the majority of the participants on that show were using fake Cribs, Red used his real house, and the episode was legendary.
Just fyi the samples for the chorus is actually Gap Band "outstanding" and Parliament "Theme from the Black Hole" but good ish Redman is definitely a TOP TIER Lyricist.. and if you think thia is good listen to the Dare iz a Darkside album.
I remember buying his debut album as a kid. That might’ve been the first time I ever thought about whether I was listening to a classic, I liked every song on it. Consider listening to the remix, it has a different beat and some slightly different lyrics.
He’s so underrated as a producer, he produced or co produced all the songs on dare iz and the production on that album is crazy and super ahead of its time. Production on that album is all time great level
You want a "Real One"? Immortal Technique "Richman's World" is more recent or "Signs of The Times". But his late '90s and early 2000s songs will blow your mind. Also listen to Czarface, Inspecta Deck and Esoteric are a crazy duo too. R.I.P. MF DOOM
Bruh review the entire Muddy Waters album. I'm telling you its a classic album. Eric Sermon was serving the Funk inspired beats on the East Coast while Dr. Dre and DJ Quick were serving it up on the West and Redman's flow fits E's production perfectly. Wether you review it on the channel or not just as a Hip-Hop head that album is a must own.
Triddip wat up. "Brothers on my jock" Redman and epmd. His first ever verse. Heads think it's his verse on "hardcore" that's his first ever verse but it ain't. It's on "brothers on my jock" peace
Another classic song that makes a lot of ill lyrical pop culture references is Soul by the pound, video version, by Common sense. Sooo dope. Resurrection, video version by Common sense is also a classic track. One
having more than 2 samples when creating a beat was common back then. Before all these sample laws came through and messed the game up, producers we're really going in with their creativity using all kinds of samples and elements which is why this was the GOLDEN ERA! Pete Rock was especially one of them ones that was the golden child when it came to this. Some of Biggie's songs we're remodified years later cuz of "Sample clearance" issues aka a bunch of cry baby mfs like the song "Ready to die" and "Machine gun funk". But yeah, multiple samples was the wave and really made the songs that much better.
Later on the album, he redoes this song and nails the Korean section. This album is so much fun. During one song, he literally just stops the song and does a ridiculous dj breakdown just to prove he does what the fuck he wants.
Cool to choose Red Man as a reaction, but to be fair. Please choose a better Redman song that accompanies his style. How about a reaction to three songs I'm throwing at you. Such as, Comsic Slop, It's Like That, and Soopa Man Lover 3. Just a suggestion 😊
You gotta react to his whole album dare iz a darkside, one of his classics and the production is insane and way ahead of its time, red produced or co produced all the songs too, ppl don’t realize he did some amazing production work. Album is really dark but also has some crazy dark funky production that shit is awesome.
The third sample is Parliament-Funkadelic.
You gotta check “the headbanger” EPMD with Redman
Excellent suggestion 🍻
